  1. Not exactly a thrill a minute, that half.
  2. Austin scuffs one from close after a nice effort by Redmond.
  3. Defour's done his hamstring.
  4. Burnley had a pen shout there before Austin's chance on a tackle by Virgil..commentators on my feed thought it was a pen...
  5. Tadic almost in...
  6. A bit of a blast from the past on the Prem's international feed...David Prutton is doing colour commentary.
  7. Targett injured...McQueen on...
  8. I was worried about him after the Watford game but boy is he showing signs of flourishing. I enjoyed it when he got lippy with his teammates after he bailed them out following VVD's Yoshida moment. He is showing signs that he might develop into a leader now he is the main man DM-wise. To address the previous comment I think the fans had issues with Sadio Mane because of his inconsistency and he did not seem to care all that much at times. Or at all. He seems really happy by comparison at Liverpool, chumming it up with Klopp etc. As for Wanyama there was an extended period where it seemed obvious that he would rather not be a Saint. Destabilizing the club in the middle of qualifying for the Europa was not cool. And running down his contract so he could engineer a move to Spurs of all teams was more than a little irritating. From my perspective, Lallana has caught ten times more grief from the fans than Sadio and Victor combined.
  9. Also worth pointing out that we've had three away games on the bounce, including a long away trip to Israel. Very reasonable performances considering.
  10. I thought that both ex-pat Canadian Saints (like me), or Canadian-born Saints could use their own forum. We need one, because as everyone knows, Canadians are awesome. Canadian Saints are even greater than awesome and are therefore thoroughly deserving of their own thread. So I thought I'd give it a go, since I can't find one on here already. It might be a good place to talk about where to watch upcoming games, or we could even talk about how great Connor McJesus is. Not that I'm biased at all. Or I could just end up talking to myself, which is fine.
  11. Completely satisfied with that. Deserved to win. Romeu was my MOM, notwithstanding his Yoshida-like back pass in the 1st half. I suppose that few will agree with me when I say that we're too hard on JWP. We miss his dead-ball delivery and he deserves more patience as he develops his all-round game. I'm also concerned with the lack of patience with Redmond. He looks like a tidy player to me, perhaps hurt by the comparisons to Mane.
  12. FT: 0-0. I'm satisfied with that performance. Not the easiest place to play. We were the better team.
  13. That was a big chance missed by JWP...
  14. Austin off for JWP.
  15. Hopefully Long's pace will worry Huth and Morgan. Would have liked to see Tadic stay on, though.
  16. Long about to come on...
  17. Austin should have done better there...
  18. Nice effort on goal by Redmond. For me he's looked comfortable on the ball and has linked up well.
  19. Saints look like the better team to me. Nice spell of possession with nothing incisive. Commentators over here love Romeu. He had me worried in the Watford game. Nice to see he's found his feet.
  20. So Black denies that he is culpable and the Telegraph won't disclose the entire transcript or entire footage of his encounter with them. The club's statement seems like a pretty rational response to me.
  21. I too thought that Game 3 was inevitable, but was not really looking forward to it. Canada looked drowsy again and the hockey was so boring to watch again, except for the last 3 minutes, which were great. Ralph looked miserable at the end- I felt sorry for him. His team deserved better. I'm working on the theory that Team Europe lulled Canada into a stupor by piping recordings of Puel's English language interviews into the Canadian changing room during the pre-game.
  22. Perhaps in phase 2 of its investigation, the Telegraph could turn its investigative attention to all the journalists who print lies in the papers designed to unsettle or tap up players at smaller clubs, at the behest of larger clubs. If they are so interested in keeping things clean in English football, that is. Many journalists are part of the problem and it really irritates me to see the Telegraph get all self-righteous about their journalistic role in uncovering malpractice, when so many other journalists are part of the great crap-churning machine that is the player transfer system in football.
  23. Well, that was a little hard on Ralph and Team Europe. They played almost a perfect shut-down game against Canada, nursed a lead through most of the game but lost it on two very late goals. Canada took the game 2-1, and the series 2-0. Ralph is coming back to Southampton with a significantly burnished reputation in international hockey.
  24. Ralph is trying to get Team Europe ready to play the best hockey team in the world right now, with puck drop in a few hours. I feel sorry for him with this Black business, particularly because I think that integrity is something that he values above most other things. I am not 100% sure on his role at Saints but I assumed that he is something akin to Katharina's surrogate at the club. His comments about integrity a few days ago have really painted him into a corner. That being said, as Chairman of the club, he really needs to be on hand to deal with nonsense like this instead of coaching at a pre-season hockey tournament. Or perhaps he could just fire Black by Skype. It's been done before...
