  1. You'll have to enlighten me because I don't think it's clear at all
  2. I take it you're not the type to give away your last Malteser? Anyway, you're completely missing the point that immigration benefits us all, so there's no squeezing up necessary: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/news/news-articles/1114/051114-economic-impact-EU-immigration http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-26447244
  3. You're stuck in the old nation state ideology. The planet belongs to everyone and we don't have a natural right to close off parts of it for ourselves
  4. Guys, I find it as disconcerting as anyone but change is a constant. In 50 years time the world will be unrecognisable. It will almost certainly be more crowded, but people will change and adapt. We might think it's not as good as the old days but our kids will have grown up with it so they won't know any different. OK so the south East will be more crowded, but the focal points of our economy will change and expand. Look at New York - it's virtually impossible to get an apartment on manhatten island these days unless you are wealthy, which older generations may see as a shame, but the result is that Brooklyn is the hip place to be. London is going the same way. As others have said, there are far more densely populated countries than the UK and they manage to have a decent infrastructure. That all said, there are huge challenges coming up, mainly from climate change and ageing populations. One of the most interesting predictions is that water shortages will mean the majority of people will have to go vegetarian in 40 years time - I for one won't enjoy that but will just have to embrace it I guess (if I'm still alive)! http://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2012/aug/26/food-shortages-world-vegetarianism
  5. Also, I'm supportive of feminism, but Caroline Lucas trying to make out that Bennett is only getting flak because she's a woman is such nonsense
  6. I'm still confused about this Citizens Income thing. They're now saying they still want to do it, but not in this parliament because it's such a big change. Is it really a practical idea? I'm not convinced. Why does it need 5 years to work out a policy? The whole thing was based on idealistic assumptions about how much it would save. And now again their leader doesn't know the figures. I'm not convinced they're credible at all
  7. We would miss Pelle's link up play perhaps more than you think but I agree it's probably time to give him a rest
  8. So how does that compare to other keepers? Anyone who thinks he could have saved the first goal is mad though
  9. Not a pen
  10. Big club ref
  11. Much respect
  12. On his YouTube video prior to signing, most of his goals and key interventions come from central striking positions rather than cutting inside from the wing. It's just tricky tactically these days to play two up front
  13. Not sure what your point is. You seem to be suggesting its "uncool" to care about things?
  14. There's a fair argument that an across the board living wage would cost jobs, but we're talking about our so called community club that can clearly afford it
  15. Why not? Do you not have empathy for others less fortunate than you?
  16. This is an absolutely laughable comment. What planet do you live on where low skilled workers can bargain their wages? They accept what they can get. The alternative is being on benefits, and they should be commended for going down the option of working in a crap job for bad pay
  17. No one doubts that he's a good shot stopper
  18. I know it's only highlights but he's looking good on MOTD2. Only the third shot was poor, and even that reminded me of the powder puff shots Lallana and Rodriguez used to do
  19. OK well I stand by my original point
  20. And living standards are irrelevant?
  21. Although I do think they should take their chances and leave the Euro. It can't get too much worse for them really
  22. They can refuse to trade with Greece. The fact that Russia is now going into recession shows the power they have
  23. Are none of the Green Party supporters on here going to defend them? The best we've had is "oh but we don't really expect them to form a government". The Citizens Income seems like the left wing version of the flat tax to me, the idea that efficiency from simplifying the system will make up for all its deficiencies. I've really been trying hard to let the Greens impress me, and voted for then in the euro elections. but they do seem to be a bit too idealistic to be a serious option
  24. I don't remember Antti Niemi being as weak as Forster at commanding his area, surely we can get someone as good as him again?
  25. A 7 way debate will be terrible, no one will have time to say anything except their sound bites. And they should have separate Scotland and Wales debates if they want the regional parties involved
