I reckon a better manager than Hughton could turn him into a different player
-
He did say they would have liked to be able to say more but that they couldn't while negotiations were ongoing. I think there's a fair argument that to admit that they had received approaches would have weakened their negotiating position
-
If I was Morgan I'd want to leave, only natural to want a new experience after 6 years at the club

French jornalist Romain Molina says Liebherr wants to sell
Ex Lion Tamer replied to Bewildered's topic in The Saints
It may simply be that they've been assigned to cover Saints as part of their ' patch ' -
Clearly leaked in order to try to change the narrative around the club. Let's hope they can deliver on their 'hopes'

Every club has a price. Cortese took us from league 1, I'm sure he wouldn't baulk at a relegation fight in the Premier league
-
I'm inclined to believe Steve Grant's suggestion that Cortese wanted to sack Poch in December but was talked out of it by the players. Yes we had success during his tenure but I think he was a loose cannon who would have made a major slip up at some stage. There are plenty of other good chief execs out there who I'd go to first
-
That would be a great way to weaken our hand in transfer negotiations
-
I'm sure he'd enjoy the challenge of building the club up again. And maybe this is the only way Kat can get her money while selling the club at a price he can afford

Almost as if he knew this thread was going to be created...

Basically, at this stage we have only sold players to champions league clubs plus man Utd. Hard to stand in players' way when those clubs come knocking. If Morgan goes to spurs that will be a kick in the teeth, but he's given us several seasons and may be set on having a change of scene. Can't blame the guy if he wants to live in London over Southampton. None of which helps us of course, but we are in a difficult situation. Basically the players have clocked that (understandably) we're not going to invest to get into the Champions league, so having finished 8th last season, they're looking for a new challenge (and more money into the bargain)
-
But if we're having a firesale, he wouldn't need to agitate to leave, we'd just let him go.
-
I'm very disappointed at the apparent decision to sell chambers. However, if our policy is that we will only sell players who want to leave and get the chance to go to a champions league club, then this would fit with that. My main question though is, if we're having a firesale, why did we release such a snide statement when Lallana left? Wouldn't we be fine with him leaving?

I do actually agree that the public will probably turn against Ed if he becomes PM, just as they did with Major and Brown. However, if the public wasn't so shallow then I think he'd be very good for the country. Cameron, on the other hand, is just a glorified PR man with no real esteem in world affairs or even among colleagues
-
What does that even mean? All very vague. The key to be being a good leader is seeming like one? I'd rather have Pm who knows about policy , stands up to power and is a good negotiator. It's people like you who ensure politics is all spin and no substance
-
No they didn't, they said that austerity would choke off the recovery (the economy was growing when Labour left office), and lo and behold we had three years of stagnation. Also bear in mind that Osborne has slyly changed policy since then, delaying his targets for deficit reduction and investing more in infrastructure
-
Still only 21, I'd say he has the potential to be better than Pelle
-
Bargain at £6m
-
Enner's goal record is better than Javier Hernandez's was in his last season in Mexico and he has looked good in this World Cup. He's 25 though so perhaps not as much room for improvement.
-
He signed a new contract earlier this month http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2014/Jun/antonio-valencia-signs-new-deal.aspx Unless he means Enner Valencia who looks decent to be fair
-
He probably won't make it but I do always remember how Kenwyn Jones looked useless before he suddenly became one of our most important players
-
Can you please tell me what is good about him?
-
Ok so I haven't read this whole thread. But based on his Wikipedia page, I just do not get the love for Koeman. It seems like he underachieved at almost all his clubs, and is living off his reputation as a player. A bit like Laudrup. Would much prefer someone like Yakin who is on the way up

Chambers to Ipswich on loan. Loan fee - £68m

They got smashed by the big clubs, he looked tactically naive
