  1. our corner, only an underhit pass prevents a glorious one on one with the keeper. Managers/coaches that don't sort out things like that should be sacked IMO.
  2. fuckign hell that is a shit pass our by bednarek. putting us in massive trouble got away with it in the end.
  3. shit striker hold up play by Adams. Got to do far better than that
  4. yep. Not sure what the hell he is doing. Also, we break but Downes just stops as he sees few options. Very annoying not to take advantage of the opportunity.
  5. woeful. He should show some fucking bottle, come inside and smack it on his left foot. Seven games into the season (and scored today) - he should be full of confidence.
  6. poor passing and giving the ball away cheaply again killed us there.
  7. Company did a similar thing at Burnley and was successful. This season is not a write off quite yet. Automatic promotion looks tough, but we could still turn things around.
  8. nothing, but I guess RM doesn't want to change things in terms of formation, because he still thinks the players are learning his system and way of playing. Not sure how long it takes for that to become natural and importantly bear fruit in terms of goals and points. "How long" is something that has been asked of him.
  9. Echo your sentiments about the white sand and blue beaches. We toured most of the island (Sardinia) last year. Spiaggia La Pelosa (North West tip) is one of the best beaches I have ever seen. It also has some of the most amazing coastal (cliff top) roads you will ever drive on - scared the shit out of a vertigo sufferer like me though. Car hire was fucking expensive though. Wish I'd been able to go to a footie game while I was there. Was a big fan of Italian football back in the days of Channel4 coverage. The stadium England played in during 1990 world cup was still there, but Cagliari have moved out long ago.
  10. I thought Bolognia was nice. Florence and Venice are great. Sicily has a lot to offer too IMO. The main cities Palermo and Catania are a little scruffy, but it's a great place to tour around. I much prefer it to Sardinia, which has better (fabulous) beaches, but not much else. Back to the San Siro game. It was a dream come true to see us play at one of the big clubs. Somehow managed to get tickets for everyone. It was a shame the ground was empty though. Playing them on a full house would have been magic. We should have won. Not sure How Van Dick didn't score.
  11. What system is he built for? Has he any redeeming features?
  12. Kevin Philips.
  13. If you want inspiration, Forest lost six and drew one of their first seven games in their 21/22 promotion season. Only a winner take all defeat away at Bournemouth prevented automatic promotion in the end. However, they did sack Houghton after the 7th game!
  14. Here's the results of the first seven games of the promoted teams over the last ten years: 2022/23 Burnley w3 d3 L1 Sheff Utd w4 d2 L1 21/22 Fulham w5 D1 L1 Bournemouth W4 D3 20/21 Norwich w4 D1 L2 Watford w4 D2 L1 19/20 Leeds w5 D1 L1 West Brom w3 D4 18/19 Norwich w2 d2 L3 Sheff Utd w4 L3 17/18 Wolves w4 D2 L1 Cardiff w5 D1 L1 16/17 Newcastle w5 L2 Brighton w3 d2 L2 15/16 Burnley w4 D2 L1 Boro w4 d2 L1 14/15 Bournemouth w2 d2 L3 Watford w5 l2 13/14 Leicester w5 D1 L1 Burnley w4 d2 L1
  15. Very good point. This is me to a tee. I am happy for us to pass it across and between the back four and go backwards a little too often, but only if I see the benefits of that method a few times in a game. Right now, I am really struggling to see the fruits of this labour. What exactly is it giving us? I've yet to see us get beyond a press and expose an opponent's stretched defence. Never mind creating that perfect goal, have we even created a chance as a result? I do wonder of this approach is even needed in the championship. Getting between the lines seems relatively easy without lots of short possession based passing by defenders.
  16. A bit fed up, but not really surprised. I predicted that we'd win the early games against some poor teams when we still had the Prem quality like JWP and then when we lost them, the side would look lost for the next month and lose games.
  17. not really.
  18. if he had Premier league suitors he'd be in the Premier league.
  19. is RM cancelling the inverted fullbacks the same as when Ralph tossed the five man defence in the bin? All that time spent learning it (I am guessing they did actually spend time, but who knows) completely wasted when the players could have been learning something useful?
  20. he works really hard. But we desperately need a striker. Not a player that used to be a striker three years ago.
  21. putting to one side the old passing it out from the back thing costing us goals for a second, another problem we have is that there just isn't much attacking threat either. We don't seem to have much clue what to do in the final third. Did we create ay clear cut chances tonight? My stream cut out a lot, so not sure what I missed.
  22. there's only one Powell...say it's true?
  23. You are right. They keep spunking millions buying out contracts (and then giving them three year deals) on employed managers that aren't all that. Makes it tough to sack them five minutes later. They did give Jones the old heave ho in the end mind
  24. what is AA's best role?
  25. clinging to the hope we somehow emulate a team like Forest, who lost 6 and drew one in their first 7 games two seasons ago. They sacked Houghton and went on an amazing run that saw them promoted via the play offs. A couple of wins (which we have) in those first 7 games and they would have got automatic.
