  1. Ouch. Very different to Rodrygo's release clause of €1000 million.
  2. seeing as they got £55m or whatever for Cucarella, £35m for McCallister balances things out. They are also looking for £70m for Caicedo, which seems high, so that will balance things a little. I wonder of those two transfers will be the lot. If they keep Mitoma, Ensico and Ferguson, with March and Undav they retain that attacking threat. Sign Colwill and the back four is retained. They just need to enhance their CM. Lavia doesn't fit their profile, but might be a smart move if they could get him for less than £40m
  3. Sure, a no brainer for saints, but would it not make more sense for Chelsea to buy him now and then loan him to another Prem club? There seems little point in him getting more game time at Championship level when he has proved he is more than capable of playing in the Prem.
  4. Are Bournemouth actually interested in signing, never mind buying Stephens?
  5. Quite a few new players formed the basis of the Burnley promotion side Cullen 43 (league starts) Brownhill 41 - existing squad member Muric 41 Roberts 39 - existing squad member Maatsen 38 Tella 31 Harwood-Bellis 31 Beyer 29 Zaroury 27 Cork 26 - existing squad member Gudmundsson 23 - existing squad member Vitinho 23 Barnes 22 - existing squad member Rodriguez 20 - existing squad member Taylor 17 - existing squad member Benson 14 Ekdal 9 Bastian 7 Dakhill 7
  6. As the fans become walking billboards, they ought to get paid to wear them.
  7. I really like the third one. The first two are horrible and show that as soon as you add black to the (red and white) mix, it ruins things IMO. It's time to drop the black, return to navy shorts and get this show back on the road.
  8. 11 of the 14 permanent signings they made last season were aged between 18 and 22. While the players likely to leave are Mendy 31, Kovacic 29, Loftus Cheak 27, Ziyech 30, Aubamayang 33 and Kante 32. The Chelsea squad could be very young next season
  9. He's been terrific for us since he came, but last season he simply did not do any of the things he has been doing well, which is creating that little bit of time and space for himself, starting attacks and really taking on opponents to turn defence into attack. We've seen almost nothing from him in that regard all season, he's got lost somewhere and somehow. His crossing has never been good but it really showed as we were desperate for some ball in the box. Maybe opponents worked him out. Maybe he lost a little confidence. I don't know, but whatever happened, it really took something away from our attack. Defensively, he has been OK, but not sure he has `locked down' opposing wingers or stopped enough crosses coming in. Playing him at left back has worked on a few occasions, but not all. I wonder what his market is this summer. I thought he might be a Palace type player maybe?
  10. It's a big fat `yes' from me. Add navy shorts and we have a kit suitable to win promotion in.
  11. Surprised to be honest, but he's looked pretty solid when called upon. Got to wonder what his reflexes are like these days and how quickly he comes off his line. Does that mean the youngsters Wright and Bycroft are not seen as ready/good enough to be third choice? Or maybe McCarthy and Lis are both off? Baz, McCarthy, Lis, Willy, Wright, Bycroft...
  12. we spent a fortune in January trying to stay up. The idea that we weren't totally committed, because it could help force some unwanted players out the door, seems a bit far fetched.
  13. Ugarte and Caicedo to replace Kante and Kovacic? One less suitor for Lavia possibly?
  14. Unless you are under 14, in which case it's a 250% increase. Still good value mind at £50 renew/£60 new.
  15. No, that's about the size of it. We were in admin and the club had to accept the Wolves offer. He couldn't really say "no, I'm not leaving" as the clubs very survival seemingly relied on that transfer money.
  16. I agree. He doesn't see himself as a Championship player and it's just a matter if anyone else agrees with him and makes a suitable offer. Shame. He is exciting and there is a possibility of him becoming a great player in time.
  17. He was a Saints fan. His family were too. I believe he wanted to stay, but the club was in massive trouble, so obviously had to accept an offer from Wolves. Not sure there is much option for him at that point. When a club doesn't want to keep you, I guess you have to depart. His transfer went through on July 1st. The Markus Liebherr negotiations were well underway in June and concluded on July 9th. Perhaps the Surman transfer had been done and dusted in June and just announced July 1st. If the offer from Wolves had come in later maybe we would have turned it down.
  18. Ely same period Brentford 45 Wolves 0 Chelsea 87 Leeds 82 Leicester 40 Man U 0 Brentford 58 Spurs 70 West Ham 54 Man City 61 Palace 0 Arsenal 90 Bournemouth 61 Newcastle 19 Forrest 0 Fulham 17 Brighton 71 Liverpool 64
  19. He was given a fair crack of the whip at the start. There were some flashes of skill and his pace was obvious to see, but he didn't really deliver much in the first seven games. Jones Brentford 45 Wolves 90 Selles Chelsea 59 Leeds 63 Leicester 80 Man U 76 Brentford 90 He looked a little lost playing off the striker, but seeing as he had only played 17, 10, 17, 19, 60, 45, 45, 29, 0 2, 0, 13, 0, 0, 0, 0, 7, 6, 0, 1 and 45 minutes in the Rennes side prior to joining us, perhaps it was not surprising he wasn't fully up to speed. Selles obviously lost faith in him, but it became a selection salad thereafter as we all know. Spurs 20 West Ham 36 Man City 69 Palace 80 Arsenal 13 Bournemouth 14 Newcastle 70 Forrest 29 Fulham 28 Brighton 19 Liverpool 86
  20. sounds like he has told SFC he wants out, and they have told him he can go if they get £Xm.
  21. I suspect Broja is now on a huge contract at Chelsea, so maybe out of our reach in the Prem, never mind the Championship - not that he would drop down to the Championship. I think a lot on here don't want to see us sign anymore untried youngsters. Tino and Lavia worked out well, immediately, but Edozie and Larios less so and we will have to wait and see if they blossom. Like you, I wonder if being a Championship side means those types won't come to us now? In the end, you only need to look at how many youngsters from the Prem were loaned by the top 6 Championship sides to know that is an avenue worth exploring.
  22. Adams didn't sign a new deal while we were in the Prem. I can't see him signing one now that we are in the championship.
  23. Not sure the clauses will stack. The buyback would effectively be just £32m. It's possible suppose. He's a quality player. No doubt about it. Hope we can keep him. First and foremost, I really enjoy watching him play for us.
  24. Where has the `Perraud wants to leave' stuff come from? There was a post on here a while back saying that's what they heard, can't recall from who, but his social media post suggests he will be here next season: “The season is over for me today.Really disappointing to finish this way but it's football. A difficult season where I learned a lot. I will give everything to support my teammates for the next four games. Thank you for your support Saints fans see you soon.”
  25. Sure, he won't want to be play in the Championship, but someone still has to buy him though. And they have to meet our asking price, whatever that is.
