Actually its five year deal signed to 2027. Pretty long contract for the Championship.

Very similar records. Potter got Swansea to 10th in the Championship. Jones did slightly better, getting Luton to 6th and into the playoffs. Potter worked out well for Brighton. Let's hope Jones does the same at our place.

not a chance we pay them £4/5m. His wages are only about £300k a year. Having said that he did just sign a five year contract (so may be on a bit more now) and it cost Brighton £3m to buy Potter and his staff out of their deal. Will we be bringing any of Jones' staff with him?

Cheers. Thank fuck for that. The debt is big enough already without adding to it. Confirms in advance of the next set of accounts that they didn't pay off the debt when they bought the club (as some on here suggested) and a sizeable amount of income will need to be used to pay off the interest each year, never mind paying down the loan.
-
Not seen anything about that. Can you point me to the story online? Is that in addition to the existing loan or to effectively refinance it?

Interesting post. I'm concerned.

Potter achieved a couple of league promotions with Ostersund. Howe's first PL job was obviously with Bournemouth, who he'd got promoted, twice.

If this fella can coach, man manage, is tactically astute, picks the right team and of course the side wins, it won't take long before he has the full respect of players. Fucking tough job though.

Not a chance the owners are employing a manager with the needs of the championship even half in mind. No chance. The focus is purely on turning this season around and progressing from there.
-
You are probably right. I know we might be a poison chalice, but £6m a season ought to be able to attract someone that does. We are possibly going the Graham Potter route. Do you what their fans reaction was to his appointment?
-
not sure it's quite the same, but if Mara came in on buttons then scored 20 goals in his first season his agent would be knocking on the managers door for Ing' money.
-
Absolutely. It's such a great opportunity to get the whole club, employees and fans alike excited again, but pretty much everyone is going to nervous and perhaps `flat'. In the end though, all that matters is if he can get players onboard quickly and of course results. The feel good factor from fans will quickly follow.

I am guessing Jones' on about £400k a year at Luton. I assume he won't get the £6m we paid Ralph from us? I've always wondered how that negotiation goes. I mean, £1m might be ample to get him, but why shouldn't he expect what Ralph got?

Keeping a championship side in the Prem having got them up is pretty tough. The players at your disposal are often just not good enough. Plenty have been successful in the FL, won promotion and managed to keep team up such as Peter Reid, Curbishley, Martin O'Neil, Tony Pulis, Steve Bruce, Tigana, Sean Dyche. Often they have momentum and lots of goodwill, but they still need to win games. I wondered if Football League managers that were employed by more established Prem sides had faired better. There's George Graham, David Moyles, Martinez andGraham Potter that were pretty successful, but plenty more that came and went very quickly. I think it my be tougher to make the jump when going to a new club.

shut up you twat

let me counter that with some other observations of his play. The chance for Willock just before half time was because he didn't track his runner at all. He just stood there and watched it. The sort of defending that gets you relegated. The third goal, he completely sells himself and is too slow to even make a challenge leaving us massively short. I'd argue he is being lazy there too. It was a nice goal and I know people seem to like him on here, but he should be criticised along with many others.
-
we had just got a foothold in the game. Fuck. Don't take your chances and that's what happens.
-
my god. Walcott dithers, absolutely terrible weight of pass, ely gets us back on track and adams cant score. Kind of sums our attacking play up in a nutshell. At least we are attacking though.
-
got some ball in midfield...but need the attacking players to do a little more.
-
nice forward pass by AMN. Bit of composure and decent weight of pass too - not said that often this season.
-
How do you miss that?
-
check out the tracking of Longstaff's run for that chance. Perraud just gives up. Fucking woeful defending.
-
we are shit. Everyone will blame Ralph, but fuck me, who is going to get tune out of this lot?
