  1. if we can't find a left back better than Djenepo you don't sign him, obviously. I suspect we want to loan a player and thats not easy to find the quality and a player willing to move for one season.
  2. Two seasons ago it killed us.We got away with it last season, but not having two good fullbacks on each side is foolish considering the importance of the position. I guess like last year, every year, there is only so much money to spend.
  3. yeah, its the £25m-30m figure that was bandied about that throws me a little. It just seems too high a price for a player without any games under his belt, so its maybe not accurate, but if it was, then we must see him as being bloody amazing and thus we'd go for the loan even without an option to buy.
  4. Seems slightly strange that we were willing to spend north of £25m on a player that is only deemed good enough to go out on loan to the championship. I guess he will get more games, but I kind of expected him to subsequently be loaned to a Prem side, unless of course none are interested in taking him on loan.
  5. I still don't understand why we signed Lis.
  6. Not necessarily my cup of tea, but Keane, Boly and Suyuncu are not getting games. Sanchez at Spurs is another, and maybe more interesting.
  7. You might be right. We want to bring talent here, and then reap the benefits ourselves. I guess if there is no other option we might consider it. Not sure if we are still looking at fullback, but the Livramento injury might force our hand a little in terms of utilising the loan market.
  8. If he live west of West London then certainly could. I suspect the club still has flats in Ocean village he can rent/use during the week.
  9. If we are a happy to loan him, we seem to be a good option. The Broja loan - lots of games, did well - must play in our favour, not to mention the strong City link with players and head scout.
  10. thought we were comparing it to Southampton, Leicester and Dortmund?
  11. Do we see movement? A lot of signings just `happen'. We seen quite a few links to strikers in the last day or so, all be it, they could be complete bollocks.
  12. at a stretch, more game time? We are shitter than those clubs, ergo he ought to find his way into the starting line up easier. other than that, I've got nothing.
  13. Is that the transfer fee being mentioned or his wages? I am inclined to agree with you, but these few millions (£2.5m in wages for Stephens, £3m for Romeu) do start to add up and we do need to save a few bob if we are to ever start paying off the loan.
  14. what the hell happened there? How does an England player become useless almost overnight?
  15. Really enjoy watching him when he is on song. Hs been a very underrated Prem player. However, his form dropped off a cliff last year. Do you think his legs have gone or was it just one of those things and partly down to the struggle of the entire first team?
  16. possibly saves us about £2.5m in wages. How much do you think the transfer fee is likely to be?
  17. Newcastle signed Botman for £30m, Palace signed Cheick Doucoure for £20m, while Fulham signed Joao Paljinha for a fee that was close to £20m.
  18. Big compared to others maybe, but we have racked up £140m of losses over last three years and have a debt heading towards £100m. We have spent more than we brought in, all be it COVID-effected. As for Wolves, Fosun wrote off £126m of debt the cub owed them earlier this year.
  19. following in Livramento's footsteps
  20. What, Gordon? He looks a real talent to me and was in a different league to the rest of the Everton side. Electric pace on the break...
  21. I'm struggling to see the similarities.
  22. Shame the fee is probably pie in the sky stuff. Watford have spent £5m on a striker, so it seems unlikely they will spent more on a CB.
  23. Simeu needs another loan at a higher level than last season.
  24. Very comfortable and pleased with the dealings. He says they needed to bring in a lot of players and very happy with the quality of player they have managed to get. Firstly they "didn't have a choice", as they had quite a few loans last season that played a lot of games. Spence was always going to Spurs, Davis was always going back to Villa and United wouldn't deal on Garner. Zichernigel went back to Watford and was an option, but they saw better value/quality elsewhere. They also had quite a few out of contract players that couldn't get games in the Championship, so were not going to play in the Prem. They took the opportunity to bring in quality, not just bodies, They needed a new keeper as their current one called their bluff on a huge wage request. They needed keeper cover too. The Lingard signing is painted as a no brainer. £80k a week plus performance related bonuses on a free. Even if there was a big signing on fee, its still value and no risk should they go down. He needs to play for a new contract. He loves Williams and Richards signings (although the latter got injured in pre season). He was worried about CM, but they has since signed a couple of strong players. He's absolutely loving life back, although its impossible to get a ticket home or away this season. Corp hospitality and home ends will be the only way he sees them live.
  25. To be fair, I think he might need some time to find his feet in the Prem, time that United don't have, but I think most Man U fans are not impressed at seeing him linked with a move away and would like to see him being given a chance after a very good loan spell.
