  1. to replace Romeu and provide emergency left back cover? He was great against us when on loan at WBA, but how did he do overall for them?
  2. Sell now, get maybe £30m. Keep and next summer the price (as will our league position) will be determined by how many goals he gets. Not having a firing replacement already in place is a concern.
  3. Mara replaces one of those doesn't he? Not sure he replaces both though. I wonder how many forwards we want to have. I am sure we are working on a striker transfer, but is it to replace Broja or Che?
  4. Tricky one. It's not as simple as some posters who say `it would be madness to sell now'. Two years left on his contract. Now is he time to sell to maximise our return or we need to offer him a new contract. Would you do that, and how much would you pay? Is he worth £100k a week for example? Does he want to stay? Does he want to move back up North perhaps? This human element is often ignored. If we sell, how much is he worth? He hasnt scored a lot of goals previously, but is it possible that he scores 15-20 goals for us this season? What value do we put on that? Is his all round game really that good and are the facets he brings essential to us? If we sell, who do we replace him with? Do we need to sell to buy any other players? Is the buying market non-existent for our `unwanted' players?
  5. where do they get this information from? I mean, it makes sense, but who reveals this to a journalist?
  6. which knee did he do? I'd of thought those loops were taxing unless you were well on the way to full recovery.
  7. looks as good as new. Well, certainly comfortable anyway. Maybe that right back cover wont be needed after all. Fingers crossed.

    Injury Watch

decent video on Saints twitter feed of him ball juggling, including a fair amount of flexible movement. Bodes well.
  9. one of the most interesting aspects of this game. Hope he has an absolute stormer.
  10. did they discover his weekly wage?
  11. I know Chelsea were decent last year, so the law of averages would suggest he would figure in a lot of games where they won, but I don't think they lost a single Prem game when he played. Not sure that means diddly squat, but as I don't know how good a player he is, its all I've got to add.
  12. 1. Lingard is on £80k a week, not £200k. 2. Gibbs cost £25m not £44m. 3. Gibbs tends to play as a winger, Lingard in the middle. Gibbs and Lingard both were on the field on Saturday. Even if they played in the same role, can you have too many attacking talents? Wish we had too many ball players behind out strikers. 4. Gibbs was outstanding last season. He also looked damn good when he came on on Saturday. Took the piss out of Everton defenders. Lingard has a lot to play for. A new contract for starters. 5. They have three strikers. Which decent clubs don't have competition up front? 6. They lost Garner and Zinchernagel from their central midfield area and they had sod all behind that. Multiple new CM recruits were desperately needed. 7. Seems pretty coordinated. They signed the best from the championship in Gibbs, Toffolo and Obrien. They signed experienced Prem keeper on loan, which protects their finances if they go down. They signed young pacey talented fullbacks. Championship sides know how good Richards is. To be honest I dont know what a coordinated approach would look like. I get the feeling that fans' problem with Forest is based purely on jealousy. Rather than sign 6 first team players and make do with a bench full of league 1 level players, they have bought a bench too. If you were the manager, you would have done exactly the same. Tell me what other choice was there? Sorry, not sure why I even give a fuck. Lets talk Saints.
  13. Let me assure you, Forest fans are absolutely loving this and could not give a fuck about what happened to Fulham. They lost 6 starters in the summer, have replaced them very well and replaced all the players that were not even good enough to get in their side in the championship. For them, the summer window has been absolutely fantastic. To paraphrase my Forest supporting brother in law: "To be competitive, there was simply no other choice but to recruit a lot of players this summer. The number of signings doesn't matter. Good players gel quickly. All that matters is how good those players are and how they perform over the next year and beyond."
  14. sounds good, but aren't those two Italian clubs just `old rumours'?
  15. For some reason I thought Rondon chipped in with some goals last season, but he scored 1 in 11 starts pus 12 sub appearances. He was a 1 in 4 man at WBA. They really need DCL back fit. Is he still injured?
  16. This cycling of money between sister clubs seems to happen more and more. Will we be doing that soon I wonder?
  17. Wonder how many strikers Chelsea would like to keep for the season. They don't really have many, Hazertz, Broja, and maybe Aubanyang. Sterling maybe, Batshuayi if desperate.
  18. I thought he looked pretty good last season. He was Everton's best player anyway. £60m though. Blimey. The money these big clubs have is unbelievable. How on earth do you compete when they buy a squad player for as much as we spend in an entire window on five or six players. It's little wonder we get absolutely murdered from time to time (like we did at SMS against Chelsea last season).
  19. Patrick Mahomes got a (up to) $503m (depending on performances) 10 year contract at the Chiefs. He's a superstar and with wages (and the cap) continuously rising, it's seen by many as a very sound investment.
  20. I like him, but that's a hell of a lot of money if accurate.
  21. Is there any chance he goes the other way? Everton seem like the size of club Broja might want, all be it they are struggling a little currently.
  22. Richards broke his leg during pre season.
  23. They play wing backs. They signed Toffolo and Omar Richards, but the latter may have a serious injury.
  24. Ha. Starting to look like it. 16 players signed in total by my count so far. Of those, Aguilera was acquired and immediately loaned out. Of the starting line up, the three centre backs and Johnson were from the promotion side, with just 3 of the 9 subs from the promotion season. So that's 13 new players and 7 existing. Richards and Niakhate (both new signings) and Colback (existing player) were injured. Existing players Soh, Smith (3rd choice keeper), Cafu, Arta and Taylor didn't make the squad and probably won't be required. Big old turnover of players, but of the promotion side, Samba wanted out, Spence, Garner, Davis, Lowe and Zinkernagel were all loans that went back. So they needed six first team players for starters and replaced most of the bench/squad players that were not good enough to play in the championship so are hardly likely t be good enough for the Prem. If you were the manager, wouldn't you have done exactly the same? One extra note. Lots of criticism over the £25m plus add ons Gibbs transfer fee, but he took Everton to pieces when he came on. Could be a very good signing for them. I'd of been happy to see him at our place.
