What's he like as a keeper? Better or worse than Lumely?
-
ah. I was looking at the First team page https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/teams/mens-team both missing from there.
-
No Onuachu there either.

Its stating the obvious, but it's a damn sight easier to sign players that you think will be good enough for the Prem with £60m in you back pocket. What do we do, sign a player in our budget that we fear might fail at this level, or wait until the final week of the window to get a loan in that we can afford that we think will cut it?
-
Looked a little lost when he played for Wolves. Not easy for foreign players to hit the ground running in the Prem I'd of thought left side forward was the one position we don't want another. We need a guy that can be the fulcrum. Someone with Adams hold up play, but maybe a bit more ability.
-
where on earth did the heart issue story come from? Very strange.
-
I'm not familiar with his game, but can't see RM sacrificing touch and passing for 'legs'. If the players offers both, then we would have a winner in my eyes.
-
Just wondered if we were alone in that fact? Do other sides sign injured, or injury prone players and get almost nothing out of them for their entire contract (we are some way from that with Stewart just yet I should add). Signing an injured player is madness IMO, especially as you only have to wait 4 or five months until anther window opens...just wait until the next one FFS. If the player goes elsewhere, so be it.
-
I know he doesn't fit our style and I know some loose passes led directly to goals at West Ham (causing him to have a `mare'), but boy could we do with a guy that offers his doggedness when we haven't got the ball. He's a Jack Cork type, that just runs and runs, puts opponents under pressure, gets a foot in, gets an interception...gets the ball back. Our midfield lacks that little bit of bite and legs.
-
Tremendous talent. Can't see them allowing him to come here, but like your thinking.
-
we got our fingers burned a little by AA not cutting it in the higher division, so maybe they just didn't see a Prem player. I liked him, but they might be right. Even on a free it int a good deal if he cant play at the this level. Thought he was a better option than Lallana though!
-
No idea. If the papers say so, then perhaps we did and perhaps we have more than £15m available to spend. Excellent. We have signed Downes since then, so who knows how the budget was impacted.
-
Trabzonspor have score one goal in three games. They will be back with a better offer. Not sure it will be as much as we want, but he's their target.
-
We know we have got £15m to spend...plus whatever we get for Onuachu and ABK, assuming those deals get done. Whether that's enough to sign a talented attacker, I am not sure.
-
When decent championship layers are going for £25m, it does not surprise me that we have struggled to bring in that creative talent. We just don't seem to have the funds. Obviously we don't want to just sign a player unless we think they will cut it, but if we had no money I thought we might take O'Hare on a free. There is still time to strengthen.
-
I don't know how good Szmodics is, but perhaps our scouts have determined that he won't cut it in the top flight. You do understand them. We are looking for top quality players, but have limited funds available to spend. That makes it very difficult to bring in players. We have tried to sign MOR and Carvalho...and for all we know several others, but just haven't been able to tempt the selling clubs...yet. Our options are currently Onuachu, AA and Mara. Not ideal. Wasn't Downes our top priority? We haven't failed, completely. We have signed BBD and McCarthy. Again, far from ideal, but we have signed them. I think we will bring in three more players before the window closes. Wish we had them in right now, but that's the way it is.
-
Oh dear. I hope it's not too serious. I know he doesn't have too many fans on here, but I'm sure we all wish him well. Got to ask, why on earth are Hoffenheim revealing this kind of detail though. Is it not private medical information?
-
Missing out on Carvalho could be a bigger loss than MOR. Asprilla is still available, but who wants to get involved in that mess, and not sure we can afford him either.
-
Who was the last signing that genuinely got you excited?

Kevin Phillips. -
I agree. My only concern is that Trabzonspor have spent about €10m (net) this summer already, which is similar to what they spent (net) last season. Net spend was roughly €0 the summer before that and about €12m the season before that.
-
Perhaps not, but still looking forward to seeing those three players. A little continuity early on might not be the worst thing. Three more will come in before the window closes is my guess.
-
Still at Braga. Just turned 28. Looks like clubs are passing on him.Linked with Marseilles, who just sold Vitinha (who they bought for €32m - I seem to recall there were some on here that fancied him, but he flopped) to Genoa for €16m. You wonder if that's bollocks though. Are they really going back to that well? Doubt we are interested. We will want someone already in the UK, on loan, that can hit the ground running.
-
Perhaps we bid, discovered they wanted double our offer, so moved on to Carvalho, discovering similar. Rather than 'waste' time, as some on here suggest, maybe we've been very efficient. With greater funds at our disposal, we can obviously recalibrate. Doesn't mean we will bid again. We just might not value the player in the same ballpark as Celtic. We shall see.
-
out of interest, who would you like us to sign to fill the central striker position?
-
Fergie wasn't regarded as a good man manager, was he? More of an authoritarian, and with the history/strength to allow him to bin players. Must be a nightmare managing multimillionaire young players. I just wondered if RM ought to carry some blame for not being able to take ABK on the journey. Or is it just a case of the player always being the issue.
