  1. Why would a team be worried about beating us in pre-season, when all they are trying to do is get themselves ready for competitive football? Both teams IMHO will start pretty close to what the manager thinks their best XI is. Ours will change before Wrexham with player trading.
  2. Loan repayments on infrastructure costs fall outside of PSR, as long as you can show separation from day to day costs such as wages, maintenance, etc. Everton spent the stadium loans on paying the wages, which is why they have issues. Whether Solak/Sports Republic would be willing to underwrite these costs is another story, but likely why he has stated he would be welcome to additional investors joining the project.
  3. Read on and you'll see that comment has been addressed... "Unless the existing building has got lighter over time there is no way to utilise what's there for expansion upwards."
  4. Without seeing the existing plans and structural calculations everything is speculation. However... Likely that SMS was built to a budget, and if it was thought that expansion would be difficult over the Itchen then the foundations would have been put in for what we have now and no more. Unless the existing building has got lighter over time there is no way to utilise what's there for expansion upwards. There are options to add to the existing foundations, but would need major works to dismantle elements of the existing to allow access for plant - 30t piling rigs... Recent renders essentially show the Itchen having a shiny new front with a small extension to give more corporate space, which would mean new foundations outside of the current footprint. For the Chapel, Kingsland & Northam, I doubt that extra corporate was a major part of the thinking 25/30 years ago. Whilst there was forward planning for "bolt on" extensions, these probably would need to be redesigned to allow the incorporation of further boxes & entertainment spaces. This could all be achieved behind the existing though, akin to the Liverpool main stand works a few years ago, or Man City's new hotel going in this summer.
  5. How upset will people be if Kuryu Matsuki gets sold without paying for Southampton? Dodgy Twitter (X) rumours linking him to Germany so it's a possibility. Only cost 1.5m Euros, so even selling for 5m would be a decent profit in books, for effectively bringing him to Europe... If we can use Goztepe like this surely that is a good part of the group model?
  6. Textor hasn’t a pot to P in, his other clubs all struggling…
  7. If ABK isn't going then we should look to use his quality in the squad. This should be where the multi-club model comes in and move one of the younger lads out to Turkey or France for 6 months so that they get some competitive football... Then reassess in January, either ABK or Bednarek will go I assume...
  8. The same TalkSport that employs Keys & Gray? Absolutely no standards there so Jenas will fit in just fine. Wouldn’t surprise me if they employed Adam Johnson….

  10. All the Prem gambling sponsors are Indonesian market firms. Fun88, W88, BK8, Net88, SportsBet etc… If the gambling firms are still offering silly money we’d be stupid not to take it realistically. Edit: And they’re still legal until 26/27.
  11. To those complaining about “crab” football, and not utilising the pace in our attacking players, do you not realise that everyone will sit deep and let us have the ball, not allowing space for our attackers to use their pace? The “crab” football is designed to draw them out and create space for our players to exploit. The alternative is we flood forward and try to get the ball through 9/10 players on the edge of their box, mostly at this level solid defenders who will kick and head it away all night with our tricky pacey players not getting a sniff. Then once we’ve got everyone in their half they counter us and score. Kind of how we used to play against Citeh… Unfortunately we’re in the Championship with Championship players, only Leicester can claim to have a Premier League 1st 11 and be able to play on the front foot and break teams down easily all season!!
  12. Guessing Wood comes if ABK goes, all seems to have gone quiet on that front though?? If Wood comes then Swans get Edwards to replace so a good old game of deadline day dominoes, and someone likely to end up selling without getting the replacement!!
  13. Because making a quick £15m and putting the whole £220m investment at risk is what will make them a great profit? They’re not asset strippers and will do what they think is best for the future prospects of the business…
  14. Defensively we’re poor, but we’ve only added Captain Mannering at left back so you can’t expect a lot. The weakness in midfield is more worrying, little creativity without Alcaraz, and no bite. Downes should help, but will need more…
