I was on a family holiday in France. Remember my Dad being gutted it was booked. Had only just arrived in Le Harve when the game was underway, Dad managed to find some guys from Soton sitting in their car on the dockside, listening to the match on the radio. We stood there with their radio cranked up and window down, all thoughts of the holiday, or getting off the dock, forgotten. Cue mental celebrations when we scored, and again when we won, with a single car horn hooting and lots of bemused locals staring at the small group of mad English folks. Brilliant.

I dont dismiss every negative news story. But if you have spent over 15 years reading the Standard Sport pages, as I have, then the level of optimism / "Exclusive!" / bias / complete and utter delusion in favour of London Premier League clubs -v- the rest would not be a surprise.
