  1. Still might get reading up I suppose the fluky gits! But just cannot see a premier league club taking a gamble. Like you say he can get clubs up quite well and that is his best bet of getting a crack at the premier league, but most managers do not get long to prove they have what it takes. Palace, Cardiff, saints last season, reading last season..... I would like to see him with a club like WBA to see what he is made of, for this season and next, as they will stay up.
  2. Right I'm off to bed!
  3. I do not think it is the same. He knew about bringing a lower league size up and to land a job with a league 1 team like Southampton with the ambition and the set up would have been amazing. With Reading it is a team that were relegated from the premier league, which they got into out of nowhere. Now they are not good enough and the place does not have the same buzz as it had at here. The bandwagon just kept rolling! I thought the Wolves job would have suited him and I think he would have had the same buzz and set up that he had here. But becoming a manager of a team that was in the premier league get relegated, the fans expect you to go straight back up, whoever you are. If you do not you can only lose.
  4. Which one of the films are you saying the UK produce. From Soup to Nuts, a 1928 short comedy film starring Laurel and Hardy as butlers hired for a high society dinner party Soup to Nuts, a 1930 feature film starring the trio who later became the Three Stooges
  5. It has come a good 15 years after I stopped smoking it on a daily basis. Then 9 years ago I gave smoking all together and have not smoked a joint or a cigarette since. I get the urge to smoke it again, but have the fear that I would take up cigarette smoking again, so contemplating brownies!
  6. Top half finish I would settle foe and anything better brilliant. I would love a cup final as well. Win brilliant. But just winning that semi was a great memory!
  7. I just want to add, we are in much better shape now and have moved on to the next level.
  8. I hope he lands another premier league job, as he deserves a proper crack at managing at that level. He was guiding us to safety. I think he could be good for WBA. Loved his time here as manager on our fantastic rise to the top flight. Just hope it is not a week on Sat. Great bloke!
  9. I still love FA Cup 3rd round day, but the build up to the final is never the same. Used to start on the morning of the final with the players at the hotel, follow them to Wembley..... Terrible now 17:15 kick off, before the end of the regular season. But I look toward to tomorrow and hope the dream continues. I hope for another 2003 with a better ending..... Great memories.
  10. I have a joke around with players when I referee, but over the course of a game and a season, you know the best way to handle players. As long as I do not swear that is fine. I tell them to shut up, joke with them when they say things like 'you are getting everything wrong'. Then if that player makes a mistake I will let him know about his mistake. Most of the time you give a smile and get on with it and shake hands at the end.
  11. Seriously players can ask, it is when they go nuts. Ok, if he did see it then he decided it was not 'deliberate'. So on with the game. Once the ref has said no, that should be then end of it. He is not going to change his decision. This is the reason I think this grey area should be removed. Handball is handball end of, like in hockey, if it hits your foot it is a foul if you mean it or not.
  12. I like Clattenburg as a ref and I like Lallana. They should both shut the feck up and get on with their jobs. Clearly see it is on the blindside to the ref and the Lino is on the other side of the pitch. Best view Lallana. Ref could not see it, so could not give it. Get on with the game!
  13. Never question a referee and then go to the fa. Coincidence that this happens the same day Lallana goes off crying about what a ref said to him?
  14. Great article and it has left me wanting to see more pictures and learn more about the stations and where they are.
  15. But you would think we would produce one good keeper even if he went on at an older age to be a class keeper with someone else. There is a shortage of outstanding English keepers that needs to be addressed so surely we should do invest in this area?
  16. I am searching deep in my memories, but cannot remember a Saints centre back that we have produced going on to a top flight career. Neither a keeper or a ball winning midfielder. Strange, but something surely to be addressed to get this champions league academy team
  17. I would give sharp a game up front with osvaldo.. No scrap that!
  18. But you would expect one of our keepers to have come good even if at another club. CB I am not sure why this is. Even are full backs have always been attacking minded of late and would make good wingers, like bale.
  19. I think he has a huge future here. Just needs to be patient and his time will come. I just hope he does not jump ship before this happens.
  20. I am going 8th, now the tough spell is out of the way and we are 9th. Good old Motty called this after the Hull game and again he has called a strong run in for Saints. I agree again.
  21. Strange as I was thinking it is about time we produced a youth goalkeeper and centre backs oh and a ball winning midfielder. It all seems about pace and attacking players of late. Walcott, chamberlain, bale, Shaw, Lallana....... When we get a keeper, they normally improve. Paul jones, niemi and now Boric. But we have not had a keeper come through and make the post his own, or any centre backs I can remember. Even going back to the Wallace brothers, shearer and Matty. Skills or pace.
  22. Agreed, apart from the academy which I think we could get enough players.... If only we could produce a keeper and some centre backs. Anyone else notice we produce really good attacking players even full backs, but not many solid centre backs, midfielders (ball winners) or goalkeeper. All a little bit fast but no old fashion get stuck in players.
  23. Absolutely nuts, it seems most on here want to see us struggle so you can say told you so (not happened with this poster as yet though). Let's try and improve season on season and take it from there. So far we have improved on last season and a top 10 finish would be an improvement. Then we aim for top and and then Europe. The problem with most fans is that they want everything NOW! Great say we did land a top 6 place, would that be best for the squad we have, or would it be better to slowly strengthen the squad and bring through young players. Yes we have had a poor run of results, but think we will turn it around and be past the 40 point mark by March. All in all I think the season will be seen as a success by the majority of Saints fans, which I reminded you again our not the handful we have on here who seen determined to see us fail!
  24. It is tough, a player can go over in the box (or anywhere on the field) through momentum but not dive. Refs would get this wrong and players would be sent off for falling over! Should bring in hand ball is hand ball, would get rid of grey areas!
  25. Oh and if it is not, it will be played, just at some other point of the season.
