  1. How are things going at Ebbsfleet? I went to see them in the cup final win over Torquay. Great day out. I here that numbers have faded a bit. The ground was in desperate need of something, or a new ground. The club are in a fantastic up and coming area. Not looking for a takeover away from MyFC?
  2. Were was Guildford City original ground on Joseph road? http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&biw=1276&bih=823&q=Joseph%E2%80%99s+Road+guildford&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=Joseph's+Rd,+Guildford+GU1&gl=uk&ei=vHe9TKiyAYuhOvWYlUI&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CBgQ8gEwAA
  3. I might take you up on this. I lived in Guildford for a couple of years 1996-1998 Portsmouth Road, and Sycamore Road. While I was living there I did look at the history of the Club. I also follow the Guildford Flames as i worked at the Spectrum Centre for a year in their triple winning season. I could never find where Guildford Played so used to go and watch Woking.
  4. So how was it?
  5. Just wondering if any of you guys have a local non league team that you watch? Of course most of you will maybe go and watch Eastleigh, but as I live in a town called Royston (a few miles from Cambridge) I go and watch these sometimes. Support my local team as such. I go and watch Saints as often as possible and even more than ever this season, but do you guys watch you local team, and if so post their website, and one day our small local teams paths just might cross. Used to watch Cambridge United for a bit at the start of last season, but they looked like they could be heading towards the same league as Saints around late September time, so knocked that on the head! http://www.roystontownfc.co.uk
  6. Really, they offer parking? Where? Would not get there to early as evening games would come from work so just about get there for kick off, and Saturdays would arrive about 2pm.
  7. I think that Hoddle was a really good manager for us, and left us when we were at the height of what we could achieve. What was it 7 clean sheets and playing good football. I think if he had stayed we would have not got any better than we were and as well as it being Spurs he could see this. WGS a completely different manager, who before he joined had a team of mis-fits who were playing terrible football and were not fit. WGS got them up to high fitness levels and they could use their little bit of ability for longer. Fitness was so important, as was working hard for each other. Out of our managers since the mid 90's until now these two stick out in my mind of doing a very good job in two different ways, and have been the most successful at the club in recent years. Hoddle - Built a good team playing football and good at the back WGS - Built a very good team, but again like Hoddle took us as far as he could and then just held on for to long. WGS did not take over a team that was on the up by far, they were teriible!
  8. Now this sounds cracking. I know the route out because up to 2006 I lived in Sholing.
  9. I would but the return jouney is not planned out very well. Under the Itchen bridge sounds a good shout. Might have to look out for this one. How do I get to that from the mini roundabout at the end od the Itchen bridge, and is it the stadium end or the other end?
  10. Right I will watch out for that name, this bloke was married, petty normal, as I have come across some right idiots on away days. the bloke on his own to my right on the other hand was calling out, slagging off all the players, and stating the obvious and talking to people who you could tell did not want to talk to him. He was wearing a tracksuit and is the sort of person I would expect to be chatting to on here well 50% anyway.... a moron!
  11. This is the thing, I hate leaving games early and have to get back to Cambridge. If I leave straight after the game I should be back home between 12.30 and 01.00 midweek. Saturdays not so much of a rush to get out so some pop in the pub could be the way to go. Like I said rather pay for parking than to wait for traffic to clear. Also do not want the flack on here for leaving 5 minutes early, and after travelling that far to get to the game seems stupid to leave before it has finished!!!
  12. As I am now a regular visitor to SMS again this season, I have become increasingly frustrated by the parking for home games. I have tried several places. Retail Park - not suppose to park here for more than an hour. Not sure why you cannot for evening games? Lesiure world - again not suppose to park here, but you can park for longer, but is a distance NCP car park out the back of Mayflower, but took over an hour to get out after the Rochdale game Station car park - still a bit of a trek and cannot always get a space. I do not mind paying for parking, this is not an issue, but does anyone know any good parking which is close ish to the ground and where you can shoot off either up to the M27 or up the A33? Cheers
  13. I was speaking to him yesterday, as he was at the game on his own like myself with the wife out with the kids in Halifiax. Just wondering if he was a poster on here at all. Said he goes to many of the nothern away games, a little bit like myself. In a rush to get to my car and go and pick up the kids and wifer before the roads got jammed, I did not ask his name. If not on here perhaps I will see him at Carlisle or Rochdale away.
  14. Not saying he will never get it right, just the main point was we needed to change the tactics slightly. Nothing wrong with trying to play football, as that is what we all want to be watching.
  15. In the first half Huddersfield push well forward in a very advance stance. This did not give time for the ball to be thrown/kicked out to the full backs, before someone was right on them. When the ball is thrown or kicked out it should be for the full back to jog on to, and not wait for it to come to him. Everything from yesterday just seem to be done at half pace. What you do have to think is if they know we are going to try and play football then did they press us to stop us building from the back and by doing so surely there would be a case for a quick (not hoof) but ball forward over the defence to run onto. It just seemed the team were sent out with instructions an then we did not change them. Surely this is not good. I noticed Lee clarke telling his team to sit back a bit more. This was after about 50 minutes. Think he was telling them to take a bit of a breather as they were at 100% during the first half and would have tired at the end. As it was the last 15 they looked to weaken, but we could not get the goal that could have got us right back with a chance of a point!
  16. Oh they were 100% playing out from the back for the sake of it. Sometimes KD was passing it to his full backs and they had a man on them already.... this was not wise. Overall we tried to play football and over played at times, little passes that were not needed. I am not saying do not play football, but you do need to mix it up a bit and get the right balance. Also they were a big team, and I reallyt think we needed someone to run at the back 4 and not try and hit it over them to get in behind. We got the match tactics 100% wrong today, and just did not come out the traps quick enough IMO.
  17. I did write the above from what I saw today, but have just read the Adkins press conference article. So he was on the sideline, surely he could get the message across to stop messing around with the ball in our own box? He must have gave the insructions in the first place to pass all the time? Well at least the team are listening to him, or just proving a point.... which would be very worrying if it is the case!
  18. Now I am all up for playing good football and building from the back, but sometimes today the distribution from KD was stupid. Trying to play to ball out short and receive it back again and being put under unnessasary pressure at that back. It just looked like they were told that we must not kick the ball long at all costs, in the first half. We did not seem to fancy this game at all with the lashing rain from the start an the strong breeze cirlcling around the ground. We were second to every ball, and did not close the ball own at all around the edge of our box. They were up for it and very physcial and won in all areas of the park. Last 15 minutes we looked much better, but never really looked like scoring. But going back to the first point it just seemed like passing short for the sake of it, when sometimes a hoof up field is what is needed. We never get the balance right do we!! Roll on next weeks.
  19. I cannot call this one, as it seems they have hit form as well. Winning 3-0 at Colchester is not a bad result. I think it will be a really good game on my first visit to Huddersfield. Another away ground to cross off the list.
  20. Well I was hoping for a better return than that to be honest. That is near relegation form!
  21. We are having such a good run at the moment and we WILL slip up in at least a couple of those games. It is just the way the league is. We will still win the eague though I still have no doubt!!
  22. Brilliant result, and reading the reports a great performance. 10 points from the last 12, with only 1 goal against and off to Huddersfield next week and really looking forwar to it!
