  1. Thank god I am not the only one who's going mad! It's funny, despite all the evidence to the contrary, I still remain convinced I've seen him play for Saints! I've come to the conclusion that I've either had an "Inception" type dream, where on Sunday night I spent '20 years' watching an alternate Saints team (we did win the league three times in a row in the 90's, right?) OR I too am confusing him with some other journeyman, more famous for another club, ending his career at our place... While I'm at it, did Mark Walters, Stuart Ripley, Sammy Lee, Justin Fashanu, Jamie Redknapp, Peter Reid and Derek Statham also make an appearance or two for us, or have I dreamt them up too?!
  2. Bobby Moore. Oh no, sh*t I'm doing it again...
  3. Oops! False memory syndrome... Was convinced he had a few loan games with us (in those days when we had "other peoples players, like Reid, drifting in for a few games) but just checked 'the bible' and no. I blame the drugs...
  4. Ian Turner. Lee Todd. Ken Armstrong. Dean Richards. Ray Wallace. Graham Baker. Gordon Cowans. Sammy Lee. Kevin Richardson. MLT (sorry, but we know it's true!). Brett Ormerod.
  5. They need to focus on their real derby rivals, Weymouth. Odd that they are cultivating this mouthy 'hoolie' image - I used to live there, it's a lovely middle-class little town. Not as if they have any 'inner-city' issues or problem 'yoof'?
  6. Jock Wallace (Rangers). Adkins was of course also a physio, as was Liverpool legend Bob Paisley. Boring but true. I really like Adkins from what I've seen. Seems like a really sound bloke.
  7. Right on cue, Manji arrives. No further comment M'lud, I rest my case...
  8. Every silver lining has a big dark cloud. Just wouldn't be you if you just said "great result" or something. Finish that drink, your glass is half empty...
  9. It's sadly full of aggressive, negative, Kids who try to outscore each other. Even the most reasoned debate will be spoiled by people piling in, name-calling and being generally offensive (not to mention inarticulate). FF will say something reasonably interesting and he'll get swarmed by pathetic, petty, idiots calling him all sorts. The site used to be a good place for a reasoned intelligent debate - not that it didn't get heated - and has suffered by great posters like Um Pahars getting sick of it and leaving. Like most things in life it's become 'dumbed down'. I pop on now and then, like now, but tend to get off sharpish, as the tone, regardless off the topic, descends Inevitably to playground level. Shame.
  10. And you think Mike Osman is unfunny...
  11. Disappointing, but a step in the right direction. Solved a problem at one end, now need to focus on the other. It will come, and we WILL still go up, mark my words.
  12. I find such optimism so inspiring... Remember Norwich, remember Sunderland the other year. It CAN be done.
  13. ?!? Nut case.
  14. Sincere condolences Daren.
  15. Well said! Can't believe some fantacists actually believed th O'Neill stuff - quite ridiculous. As for being underwhelmed, well great, then your expectations will be low and you won't be giving him stick if he doesn't immediately turn things around. Will you? Have just read his interview on the OS, and like his common sense, no nonsense, "football is a simple game" approach (it is!). Puts me in mind of Worthington actually. He will do well.
  16. Yes, there's not much wrong, other than that. If he has anyone he might be able to bring in on loan to add a bit of pace/width, great, but I still feel we have the best squad in the division. Just need to get reorganised and back to that form we saw at Bristol Rovers.
  17. We should probably focus on getting out of the "third division" (in fact, getting out of the bottom four of the 3rd tier!), before fantasising about the PL! This is the guy for the job.
  18. Give it up... Phil Brown was never a serious candidate.
  19. "You are football ignorant".
  20. Great news, great appointment. Now let's stop farting around and get on with winning this league!!
  21. Looking forward to Adkins? Yes I bloody well am!
  22. Perhaps you should cast your mind back to Pardew's last game. That is the difference a decent manager can make...
  23. Have no expectation of a result today. Wilkens is firmly in the 'Wigley category'. Hopefully another defeat will convince Cortese to get his hand in his pocket and sort the Adkins mess out. Had he have done so earlier in the week, we might have had a better chance of a result today...
  24. And given they are by far the best two that we are apparently interested in, I wouldn't hold your breath for a 'Wow' any time soon!
  25. Can't blame Bournemouth for wanting to let their fans know their manager has resisted overtures from a bigger club. Talking of disrespectful, it's pretty disrespectful to not offer compensation to a club when you take their manager...
