  1. Biggest gathering of Sotonians in the city in one place between 10th and 14th April. Probably best you (re)read the blog (again), rather than me regurgitating it for you.
  2. In what sense do you think marking an historic event for 60 seconds detracts from supporting the team?!? Wibble...
  3. Presume 'over-board' wasn't a bad taste pun? And is marking a historic tragic event once in hundred years really going over the top?!?
  4. Interesting blog fom The Echo website a couple of months ago. Apologies if this has been highlighted before but couldn't see anything and thought it worth raising again. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/view_from_the_chapel/9528467.Saints_and_Titanic___the_fabric_of_Southampton/ I tend to agree with the writer - given that the Titanic disaster was one of the biggest and most tragic events to hit the city, it would be fitting to marks the 100th anniversary while 30,000 or so with connections to Southampton are in one place. Four out of every five crew members came from the city. 547 Sotonians died on 14 April 1912. There will surely be numerous people at SMS that night who have direct family ties with the disaster. Just a look at the interactive map of the city (below) showing who died/survived brings home just how huge the impact must have been. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/heritage/titanic/crew/map/ Does anyone know if the club is going to mark the anniversary? I definitely think it would be fitting. Even if it was just the laying of a wreath prior to kick off. Perhaps we could lobby the club in some way? It is an important part of our city's heritage.
  5. Agree, need to draw a line under this one. In some perverse way it may have done us a favour - illustrating we have no devine right to win games, and we need to treat very game like a cup final if we're going to go up. I thought there was a good argument to play Deano yesterday. If nothing else he always puts in hard graft and we could have done with his industry in midfield. I'd play him at Posh for the same reason. Chappers just not back in his groove yet. Anyway, onto the Skates and 3 points...
  6. Appalling defending. Even Schneiderlin didn't move on the line.
  7. Pedant, with a capital P!
  8. Okay 'outraged of Purley', I get that - and of course we will, but if you think there won't be banter between the fans you are deluded (or have never been to a Derby game).
  9. Seem to have plenty in our songbook, but I did like this one from the Auld Firm game: Rangers fans: "We're Rangers 'till we die, we're Rangers 'til we die...etc" Celtic fans: "You're Rangers 'til July, you're Rangers 'til July..." Very clever. Surely something we can sing at our blue brethren if they pipe up with that one? Any others?
  10. Don't entirely agree. I think most of us soon realised we had no devine rights win it. Some WH fans are only just coming to terms with that fact.
  11. They are delusional on there. They also all thought they'd walk the league. I hope they end up in the play-off's - I won't be putting money on them to win it though...
  12. Reading won't lose. A draw most likely, but can see West Ham's fans getting on their back again so a Reading win is more likely than a West Ham one. Think WHU will win at Posh though. As long as we keep winning, I don't really care...
  13. Definitely need to keep our feet on the ground. Need to treat every game like a cup final - starting with Doncaster. Lessons of history are very valuable, but I trust Adkins to do the right things and keep us focussed. One game at a time and all that. Even found myself getting carried away last night, but today - looking through our fixture lists - I am back to fretting and doing impossible table permutations in my head. Life as a Saints fan! COYS!
  14. About 5th row back to the right of the goal, lower tier. Went ballistic like everyone around me. Had absolutely no doubt at all that he'd score it. Only disappointment was that RL went to th left of the goal to celebrate. What a legend he is.
  15. I witnessed a miracle on Saturday - watching two guys in the disabled section leap out of their seats and run up and down the stairs. A priceless memory!
  16. Did anyone notice AL strop off after being substituted? Pulled his hand away when Adkins shook it and threw the coat given to him on the floor. Bit odd, given it was about the 90th minute, and it made sense to bring Cork on to help defensively in the last few minutes. Maybe just frustrated at his own performance? Second half he was anonymous (being generous with language there!).
  17. Looked jaded. Good to give him a break.
  18. 47. From So'ton originally (St. Mary's then Lordswood), but have lived in S. London since 1986. First game - not sure, but would have been 1975 I suspect. Do remember being at the WBA FA Cup game (replay) 75/76, but that sticks out because we had seats in Upper West Stand. Usually to be found in Milton Rd chocolate boxes, then graduated to under west stand. Usually Kingsland at SMS. No idea on first away game, can't remember, but would have been 76/77 most likely.

  21. All round great performances today - Cork, Morgan, Adam were standouts for me. Brilliant team goal for 3rd and Chungs goal was even better than it looked on telly (was right behind it) - instant cult hero. Great win.
  22. We are not playing badly, and Brum failed to beat us at home. Get a grip fer chrissakes...
  23. West Ham 2 down
