Indeed.

One of those names (like Healy, Cureton et al) that you remember coming off the bench against us and the ground giving a collective "oh here we go...". About time we signed a player like this, I think he'll do well.
-
Would have been better (for the tabloids) if his surname, was Butler, but there you go... Good signing hopefully - great experience and an out and out goal scorer. More goal scoring/creating options for AP.
-
Generally they lump the whole Liebherr family together - The Times Rich List did anyway (c. £2.1bn from memory).

Can anyone see Cortese putting up with this much longer ?

Don't bother then! 4-1 today, +ve points. Okay, one swallow does not a summer (autumn?) make, but a start. Incidentally, after sacking Pardew who are 'you' intending to appoint? -
Haven't bothered to read this whole thread, so someone may have mentioned him - but what about Jay Tabb. Saw an article recently which said that Brendan Rogers was trying to offload him on loan from Reading. Okay, he's not a striker per-se but is one of those tricky attacking players who can unlock defences and create chances. Always remember him causing us all sorts of problems at Brentford in the cup a few years ago.

Not according to Soccer Saturday... who cares, at least we have that monkey off our back. Mind, still tons of work to do to get anywhere near "safety", think we'll be alright though.

Yes, because it is a long-term plan, and short-term, knee-jerk reactions do not help (as surely we have learned from the last 10 years?!!?). -
The Guardian really has their teeth into P*mpey and "Dr" Fahim. Always good reading...
-
There's a rumour on one of their message boards that David O'Leary or GLEN HODDLE have been lined up to replace Hart (allegedly this comes from Harry Harris). Can't see either of them getting them out of their predicament, but just imagine Hoddle at P*mpey - he'd be even more popular in these parts!
-
I'm still not a fan of Chairman or owners appearing in squad pictures, but the BIG difference is that ML has put his money where his mouth is and has 'earned' the right to appear in the picture. L*** never did - it was just an ego trip on his part.
-
The start of our record-breaking winning run. Probably.
-
Good article. Those idiots already agitating for Pardew to be replaced should know better (you know who you are!) - we have a good young ambitious manager, who already has a wealth of experience. We are on the right track, and it's only a matter of time before we're moving up the table. Replacing managers as a s/t reaction ISN'T the answer. COYS
-
First team to take points off Charlton, and a good away point - shows what we're capable of, and we should now only get better. Need to get the 3 points at home now, and where we can away, and we'll be fine.

I was responding to Brightsparks post, and did. What part of my post was e x c r a m e n t in your view? Supporting Pardew, or that the previous regimes were, well, n o t t h a t g r e a t ?
-
Oh please... ...because high turnover of managers has really worked for us in the past hasn't it?! Clearly our start is v disappointing, but this club was rotten (and rotting) to the core - the new regime, need time and a bit of faith from us to turn it around. This is a LONG TERM project - short term reactions won't help at all.
-
So why post a thread like this?!?! He is as accountable for the state of our club as Obama is for the global recession... He's doing the right things, we'll get there.
-
I'd think we'd be a natural choice on the South Coast, due to the transport links and the fact we already have infrastructure for the ground (i.e. just a few Liebherr cranes needed to add a few thousand seats on, rather than P*mpey who don't have a new ground yet, and look increasingly unlikely to get one).
-
As the late, great, Dave Allen used to say "It's my f&^$£g cake, why can't I eat it?!".
-
Would make sense for him to go to Reading or Watford, given both have "lost" Tommy Smith... Let's hope we get a decent fee for him, and buy someone more appropriate for the division pronto.
-
Has taken full control of PFC, assured all debts. Storrie not involved in takeover. Sorry, not Saints related, but interesting nonetheless. Presumably why they've been able to start buying players.
-
Sounded like a much more promising performance - and let's not forget we were up against a Premier League team. A disappointing result, given we were in front, but things are still moving in the right direction. Such a shame about Murty - hopefully not long term, but not looking good. Also, 3rd highest gate of the night, behind West Ham and Leeds. Would it be rude to mention we also got almost 5k more than the Blue Few down the road too...?!
-
It is, but it is only TEMPORARY. AP is trying to build a team with limited time to do so, and while the season is on (not his fault, not the new boards fault). He is also trying to get the best out of those young players here last year and subjected to L***'s ridiculous experiment - as many of us said at the time, their confidence could be seriuosly damaged by throwing them into the first team, and so it has proved. AP has to try and rectify that. So, YES it is frustrating. YES, we want to get wins on the board ASAP. But let's all give Alan Pardew and his team all the support they need - little point b*tching about things when everyone is at last starting to do the right things. It just needs time, and togetherness as a club. This season is clearly going to be about getting to mid-table mediocrity, nothing more, so let's support Alan as he tries to breathe life into the dying remnants of a team that he inherited.
-
Actually, Ormerod would be a good shout in this Division - is he still getting a game for Preston?
-
Did you see us last season?? Pardew signings bedded in, we'll be fine. As they used to say in Dad's Army - "Don't Panic!".
