I wasn’t going to bother but since you (and others) have asked these are posts I felt overstepped. I haven’t bothered looking at earlier pages (other than the first page - referenced below), but I’d wager there’s similar stuff there. It’s as much - maybe more - about the ‘punching down’ tone as it is the words. Haven’t assigned quotes either as you’ll see who said what if you look back. No doubt I’ll be branded a snowflake for not appreciating the ‘bantz’. I’d imagine though, any LGBT fan reading through this thread wouldn’t find it particularly welcoming… but the mods clearly don’t see a problem with it, so hey ho… ******* “We'll probably end up with a LGBTQ+ manager after they've given advice” ******* “They were going to call it the fan advisory group but calling them the FAG might not go down so well these days. Especially looking at some of their pictures.” ******* “safe spaces for the gay lot” ******* “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again success as a manager ✅ International experience ✅ black ✅ woman ✅ gay ✅ so much it right about this one” ******* Oh, and you opened the thread with this one, which is I guess where the penny dropped that the whole thing was some big piss-take at the expense of gay people… “Why have they chose the shortest and coldest month of the year to celebrate the bright, colourful, rainbow people that we as a society benefit from?”
-
Erm, no. The stuff moderators are supposed to moderate.
-
Erm no… and it would be a pretty odd way of doing so. Not that it should matter, but I am straight and married to a woman. I have close family and friends who are gay though. I’ve found a lot of the content on this thread which - from the title at least - you’d expect to be supportive for/to LGBTQ+ fans - a rather odd, if not troubling read.
-
You can see them for yourself - you even wrote a couple - snide homophonic comments wrapped up no doubt as ‘harmless laddish banter’. The lower half of the page before this is full of them. Insinuations that ‘the gay lot’ can’t be managers, don’t know anything about football etc. Pretty depressing stuff given we’re a quarter of the way through the 21st Century…
-
Homophobic gammons mainly…
-
Do moderators even bother reading this forum these days?
-
Trying to imagine being small-minded enough to type that out… I can’t.
-
Not to mention if the mooted plans for an indoor arena happen too. You’d assume this is all part of the Project Renaissance initiative.
-
We know the answer to your last question…
-
@londonsaint’s post addresses this ludicrous short-term approach. It’s why we are where we are. Nothing will ever change while SR are owners I fear.
-
That sums up their incompetence perfectly…
-
Thumping win for Charlton then…
-
Excellent response. Well done you👍
-
SR ‘doing SR’ is worryingly likely…
-
Wondering if Viera - despite his iffy managerial record - might be an optimal choice… big name, bit of ‘glamour’/media attention, potential loans from Arsenal/Man City, and perhaps most importantly from an SR perspective - the chance to promote TE as #2 (as he was at Genoa), with an eye on succession planning… [NB I doubt very much he wants the job!]
-
At least he’s way out… can’t think he’d join with WC coming up? (unless someone knows something 😣)
-
Not really. Pep isn’t looking for a job. Rodgers is highly unlikely, but not totally out of the question.
-
Yeah, that’s the worry…
-
O’Neill is out of the running according to most (trustworthy) commentators. Out of whose three options I think I might gamble on the third option! (recognising how dangerous that can be with SR!).
-
Not really. He made a gaff in the QPR game but made at least one crucial save too. The two keepers are much of a muchness, not sure why some people seem to think Macca is prime Dino Zoff…
-
Country clue? It’s ridiculous that experienced managers have to prove themselves to beat a default choice of someone with no first team track record at all. What a ludicrous situation SR have us in again…
