More hunch than hope (though based purely on his interviews I’ve read/heard, so no empirical evidence). I got shot down in flames for saying this elsewhere but I’m confident that a combo of Wood, Quarshie, Edwards, THB (if he stays) - with Charles/Bree as backup - is good enough for us. Suspect Kayi Sanda will be loaned out, but he’s another potential back-up.

I’m not sure our promotion hopes rest solely on Stephens… I also have a hunch Will Still will be pretty ruthless - if people aren’t performing their place will go to someone else - in a way that RM never was.

Exactly right. It’s synonymous with men and women’s tennis (Billie-Jean, Bobby Riggs aside...) they are two versions of the same sport. Not mutually exclusive, but men’s tennis increasingly much more about pace & power, women’s tennis can often be more artful. I have twins (boy & girl). Much preferred watching girls football, no egos, all about teamwork, technically much better. That’s said the girl was the better player and played at a much higher level (with the SFC Academy & development squad for 5 years). At about 12 - prior to joining Saints - we were advised to put the girl into a boys team, did super well at that age (POTY twice), but later when Saints Development team played U15/16 boys JPL teams, they could match them for skill & technique, but not strength & power.

She was bloody awful last night (even before the godawful penalty). She has skill, no doubt, but thinks she’s a lot better than she is…

That was just particularly terrible I think. Awful selection of takers by Wiegman (Kelly & Bronze should have been in the first three takers). In fact Wiegman got it wrong pretty much all night, Sweden were miles better. She owes Chloe Kelly a very large G&T… Wife & daughter are there for the semi-final - hope we put on a better show!

It’s a nice kit, but just looks ‘half done’. I wish someone would come out and explain the rationale - it makes no sense. It’s not difficult to make names, numbers & sponsors stand out on the back of striped kit, as most other ‘striped teams’ prove year on year…

There was actually talk about them getting more than one deduction (PL & EFL) such is the state of their financial shenanigans. Could be in consecutive seasons though.

I’m sure he’s considered his options, but can’t help thinking it feels a bit of a waste (of his talents). Good enough for the PL - or a decent club in one of the major European leagues. Think Bestikas are spending a bit though, so maybe they’ll have a bigger profile in European competition next season.

Yeah, but that was countries - therefore it united nations. Is anyone outside of Surrey that excited about Chelsea winning this? Chelsea & City aren’t even the best two clubs in England. They will keep running it though as it creates TV revenue and armchair football fans will pretty much watch anything. I’m more than happy for the ‘Super clubs’ to bugger off and do this all the time. But young players can, and do, improve. Goalies in particular mature more slowly than outfield players. No idea if Gav has improved enough to be a true #1 yet? (his loan spell at SL and injury may suggest otherwise). It is one big decision that Still & Spors need to address though, and quickly. McCarthy thankfully came good in the playoffs but was unconvincing last year (putting it mildly). Should have bought that Rotherham goalie a couple of years ago. Think Birmingham got him for a snip….
