This might shock you but sometimes footballers need to be good at more than one thing... I know "ball goes in goal" is about your level of comprehension but being able defend isn't the only thing a CB needs to be good at. Passing, starting attacks, positional awareness, pace, intelligence, flexibility are all handy traits for a CB to have rather than just being good at putting a foot in and being good in the air.

Top ones on there would be Caleta-Car, Kouyate, Tomiyasu (already gone though), Diop (not happening imo), and Tarkowski (never happening). Don't want Cahill, Phillips, Jones. Don't know about a few others.

Funnelling players wide and then blocking balls when they come in is how we defend. It isn't a mistake showing them outside and then blocking the ball in, it's deliberate.

That doesn't make sense. If he was getting caught out and having to scramble that would be "tackles", not interceptions. For an interception to happen he must be in the right position, that's basically the only prerequisite.

With a high line and a high press teams will often try a route one approach of hitting it over the top, especially when boxed in, whereas a team who sits deeper and presses less will see that sort of ball played less often against them. Bednarek gets a high density of balls over the top to deal with, which traditionally are easier to intercept than short accurate passes so his numbers are inflated. This is my take anyway.

As Bednarek and Salisu are much more of the former and less of the latter, however, then in this case a CB who can pass would be very handy. One thing we definitely need is pace so we can use our high line with Salisu and them, Nat Phillips is slow as anything, was amongst the reasons Liverpool had to stop playing their high line last season.

Kamara and milenkovic are linked with Newcastle and West ham respectively for around that money and I think both are much better.

I've been very positive this window but we have £30m in the bank right now and if all we sign is Nat Phillips, a truly mediocre at best CB who wouldn't look out of place in the championship, I'll be pretty annoyed. Would be a bollocks signing tbh.

It's not niceness, its making a deal more appealing for little loss (arguably gain as we want Leicester to beat wolves really for our ambitions, they are much closer to us in the league)

Plus helping them get Vest in for game 1 makes him a more appealing prospect than someone from abroad who may have to isolate/not play for a week or two, thus making them more likely to buy him instead. Not letting him do it would not really benefit us at all.
