First one he has to take control of that situation, he sees the ball coming in over Salisu he has to claim that. How does it get down to Richarlisons foot in the 6 yard box, why is it not taken in the air. A top keeper comes for that ball, clatters anything in his path, and claims it around or above head height. It shouldn't be allowed to drop to foot height with him rooted to his line. The second hits the post and goes in because he gets a finger to it but not enough but it is a good height imo, and it's his near post when the shot is coming in from an angle, you have to have that covered. The third on paper was hard as it was a free header straight in front of him but it was straight at him and hit his hand and then his leg, neither kept it out though. If he'd saved it people would have called it a good save but it was a 50/50 for me and he never seems to be on the right end of those.
-
I disagree, I'm pretty sure he gets finger tips to it anyway but not strong enough to keep it out. Also, it's made to look harder by poor positioning, he should have his near post covered always.

We made a massive profit on our previous deals, we have something like £25-30m left over, why are we wasting our time with bargain deals in the championship?
-
It was hit well but it was also near post from a good angle, feel he probably could have done more personally. A good GK saves that for me.

It's my fiance's too, might have picked a poor one to finally bring her along!
-
We shall see, he will probably play a 4222 with a very defensive fullback so it is very similar to a 3atb, doubt he plays both RBs though unfortunately.

Forster KWP Bednarek Salisu Livramento Romeu JWP Perraud A. Armstrong Adams Djenepo tight 343 with KWP as RCB, quick counter attacking inside forwards who are good against the ball and Adams who holds the ball up well to give us an out ball. Absolutely park the bus all game and try to nick something on the break or from a set piece.
-
In the top 5 so far, good start so far but I'm starting Adam Armstrong against united so I doubt I keep it up!

Free agent Cahill with low wages wouldn't be the worst, so long as it wouldn't be our only signing at CB

7th most likely to be relegated as it stands, oddswise. We are still less likely than Watford, Brentford, Norwich, Palace, Newcastle and Burnley

Every goal was his fault imo. The first one a good keeper either claims that or makes a call, he didn't take charge of a situation he had a much better view of and let a young CB get caught in nomans land, although Salisu was also poor. Second, for me you can't be beaten at your near post from there. Third was probably the harshest as it was a free header from 6 yards out but it was straight at him and it went through him somehow. I don't think Forster is better either, we need to spend some of this money on a new keeper sharpish. A good keeper maybe lets in one of those and then we are still in it.
-
We played a good first half and threw it away with individual errors against a good side. The meltdown was predictable but still not worthy of suggesting things like bringing in Big Sam or Eddie Howe
-
I really hope this sort of thing convinces them to get a new keeper. Miscommunication between Salisu and Macca for the first, second beaten at his near post, third was basically straight at him and went straight through, not good enough. JWP, Armstrong, Adams, Livramento, Perraud, and Romeu were all quite good imo. Macca, Stephens, Walcott, Djenepo were poor, Macca being dire and costing us the game.
-
Crazy line up. Exciting though. I get Tella not starting as all the hype was around him as a striker and these are our top two strikers. Livramento is a massive surprise, deep end, Stephens and Salisu scares me a bit, neither is great in the air and DCL is amazing in the air. Stu should be starting for me instead of Walcott too, not sure what that's about.

Earlier on in the window Ralph said we would like to make some business early but also hold onto some money for the back end of the window as some deals might fall through and suddenly you might get an opportunity you don't expect. I don't think players like Tomiyasu, Caleta-Car, or Milenkovic would be thinking of saints as their ideal next move but if they find themselves without a prem suitor then maybe the appeal of the league and the sales pitch from Ralph might be able to punt above our weight a bit. With regards to your second question, he'd be both imo. Better than Vestergaard and probably good enough to start immediately while also being young and full of promise.
-
What is it? I feel we could easily stretch to £20m for the right player.
-
Leaving us open for a Tomiyasu swoop!
-
If we could pinch him that would be a lovely deal
-
Same, Chambers is a decent player and versatile too. I dunno if he'd be an improvement on Bednarek but I wouldn't be actively against it as a depth option unlike Dier.

Seriously? I think Liverpool supporters are idiots who way overrate their own players, it wasn't too long ago I remember them saying Sterling leaving didn't matter as they have Ibe, or calling Karius the best keeper in the league. They are an especially arrogant fanbase who way overrate their own lot, like a lot of fanbases especially with academy lads like Nat. Also it's not based on very little, we watched him for half a season, I'd wager thats more than our fans see of most of our targets. This was his only half season in a remotely competitive setting so I'd wager we know about as much as is possible to know as an external fan who doesn't follow their youth set up or German second tier football. Finally I remember Celtic rating the hell out of VvD so I'm not sure I agree on that one.
-
Very good point here. Defending isn't just on defenders, that's why Ralph always talks about how important it is for 10's and forwards to be good "against the ball". Injuries really messed up those automisms and brought in significantly worse people against the ball all over the pitch.
-
I personally think the £15m Liverpool want for Nat Phillips after a poor half season in the prem and a poor half season in the german second tier would be a bigger rip off than most listed. Absolutely mental, no wonder we moved on. Dier is dogshite imo, shouldn't be worth more than about £5m and they'd probably ask for like £20m so that is very silly too. Luckily we aren't the "sign flops from big boys" sort of side, we are the "take to speculative a punt on unproven talent" types so we will steer well clear of both with any luck.
-
This sort of attitude is how clubs like Bournemouth and Sheffield united get relegated after spending stupid money on the likes of Brewster, Ibe, and Solanke. Being at a big club does not mean you are good, in fact when Liverpool sell squad players they seem to pretty universally flop, Ings excluded and maybe someone else I'm forgetting. There are good deals to be found if you scout right like KWP, Romeu, Zaha, Ake, Lamptey but it is by no means a stamp of quality.

He gets 0.78 interceptions a game, Vestergaard (1.4), Bednarek (2.3), Stephens (1.5) and Salisu (1.7) all get off significantly more. See my earlier comment on why saints defenders might have more interceptions though. He is lower on tackles, recoveries, aerial duel %, and tackle % than atleast two of our existing centerbacks for each metric, dead bottom for recoveries and aerial duels. One thing he does top is "errors leading to chances" which he is top of with Stephens. Dier is dire.
