  1. Err... she's our [GB's] Gold Medal winner from the Winter Olympics. You know, that sporty thing that wasn't football every time you changed the channel to BBC2 for the last couple of weeks. It's over now.
  2. It was for people who had gone to the match to write up their experiences and impressions of the team's performance. That's why we made it a Sticky. Won't be making the same mistake again.
  3. Now that IS a good shout. I think their away strip was all brown [or blue], because I remember thinking, at the time, that both Newcastle strips were crap, as always. How about Irving Nattrass as a guess for the player. How about that for storing trivia in the old grey matter..? EDIT: Chelsea wore white socks.
  4. Yes, it would make him about 8, at the time. This was way back before the Premiership, Stevo. When they didn't use to play football.
  5. Good shout, but they wore white shorts at the time.
  6. Nope. I'm been thinking of club's home strips that didn't clash, and club's away strips, for those that did, from back in 1972-73. At least I've managed to get the right season. I can't recognise the player either. I'm usually good for remembering faces too.
  7. What a waste of a third of your posts for today, Norway.
  8. I sometimes wish people would properly think out an idea before they post it.
  9. Back in October I got 82 points, 4th place, but there were 2 Saints games still to play. Everyone else who could affect the playoffs had played their 46 games. I did the Predictor again last night and got 83 points with 1 game left, but 7th place. Once again, everyone else who could affect the outcome had played their 46 games. We had to win our final game to pip Swindon with 86 points. Seeing as I saved the outcome, why not share it, I thought..?. Don't panic when you see it. Remember we've one game left to play, away to Brighton:
  10. Ta. The work-in-progress is coming along. It is quite boring to do, but the outcome is often worth it. Click on the thumbnail for an update. EDIT: BTW, does anyone have any idea who we're playing there..? That opposition strip is the same colour throughout, so that's a clue. Of course, if you can identify the background player, then go to the head of the class.
  11. Yeah I think we'll go back to that for the next match.
  12. Earth is a pretty thing today, decked out in her very best colours.
  13. After so many inept replies to this thread, I'm not sure it was worth starting after all. Which means, I'm not sure there'll be a club to join.
  14. Agreed he may have been scruffy, but isn't that more of a comment about the image politics of today, rather than the content politics of yesterday..? I may not have entirely agreed with the method of Michael Foot's politics, but there's no denying that he worked towards an ideal where everyone, not just some, or many, or most, had a chance in life, and were free from the clutches of poverty and injustice.
  15. You have a keyboard and a forum at your disposal. Stop following the herd and start another thread. We might even make it a Sticky for you. On the other hand, I'll edit your title, and this thread can do the job. OK..?
  16. Never read a Superman comic..? They were always being advertised in there, when I was a kid. Note the tiny cartoon in this link. That was the sort of thing you'd see. http://www.thegag.com/a1880.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joy_buzzer Now you know.
  17. [and take a deep breath] Yeah, I noted that last night. Pretty honest assessment.
  18. Don't know if you've looked at the BBC Predictor, Prof, or the upcoming fixtures for all teams, but not only do we have to play nearly all of them, but they have to play each other. They'll be a lot of points won and lost there. Hopefully, either the top teams always beat the teams below them, or they all draw, so that 1 point is lost per match.
  19. I'm pretty sure you fans are not the only ones. 5 seasons of utter mediocrity and failure are going to sit long in the mind. I feel exactly the same way, but I'm starting to feel the layers of anxiety coming off when I see, hear or read of this team's performances. Another month or so of this stuff and we'll all be at the pinch-ourselves-stage to make sure we're not dreaming.
  20. There's a point where opposition teams have to take responsibility for their own defeats, and there comes a point where they are simply blown away by a better team. I think this was the latter. Huddersfield Town are no mugs, and after this mauling they are still no mugs, as will probably be proved against Gillingham on Saturday. Where Saints go from here, in terms of standard of performance, is almost entirely upto them. With the current players, from this point on, I feel that it will be what particular mood they are in which will determine what result they achieve.
  21. I think that's a bit of an excuse. Despite St Marys being very impressive, the Galpharm Stadium is hardly a shed.
  22. Me too. Mind you, after checking [counting the letters], it's Alexander Oxlade-Chamberlain, with 26. The British all-time must be Forbes [Ernest] Phillipson-Masters, with 29.
