  1. Careful..! If now anyone takes up your bet, they can proffer £1 to your £100.
  2. GM, if all some people can see is the faults in Papa Waigo's play, then they'll crucify him, because there are several. But there are also plenty of excellent traits that he has, and for me, they easily outweigh his bad points.
  3. Not only that, but this season's top 6 are definitely 10 or so points further on than for recent previous seasons. If this was an average season, we'd be right in there, or just under, with 2 games in hand, -10 points or not, bad start or not.
  4. Dog - any chance of explaining to me what Lapdance has to do with Paycheck..? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ twist
  5. I always content myself that they are actually situated in Porchester, rather than Portsea Island, which is effectively Portsmouth. They're addressed as Portsmouth, probably because they were in Dundas Way, Portsmouth, many years ago. They were actually pretty crap back then, but they've improved out of all proportion.
  6. Well that's funny because I stopped using Western Digital because they were so unreliable. I started using Seagate HDDs again, after many years of not doing so, and I haven't had a peep of a problem Must find some wood to touch..!
  7. Double checked your rules..?
  8. That would require an understanding, between the clubs, and the conspiracy would get out into the public domain. All the clubs within the top 6 are too close to each other for one or two to go light on the lesser teams, so that they can provide a buffer against Saints. I don't see that reasoning at all.
  9. I was going to say, move the Champions League Final to Cardiff, but on second thoughts, I like the Millenium Stadium. Not that it will bother Saints anyway.
  10. I'm sure there are one or two still around, dotted about Southampton.
  11. Whatever, in your wildest dreams, made you think that SKY, of all companies, gives a sh!t about football fans..? They are not a public service. All they care about is MONEY, and how quickly it can be got from you whilst providing you with the most minimum of service they can get away with before someone finds them out. You can go hang, for all they care. A football fixture on a Monday night in the West Country..? I bet some Geordie's will consider it a holiday. They'll probably thank SKY and increase their subscriptions.
  12. But that kind of reasoning doesn't fall into the fanatical supporters idea that footbal teams are either brilliant or crap. You're talking about grey areas, and that is something we are programmed to ignore, because it requires thought.
  13. For betting houses, the score after 90 minutes + injury time is usually the result they go on, for some silly reason. I don't suppose for a moment it is so that they can retain more money from betting. EDIT: From William Hill's Betting Rules. 8. CORRECT SCORES a) Bets must predict the score at the end of normal time. b) Extra time does not count.
  14. No doubt several people will have an alternative discussion about our imminent relegation.
  15. Indeed. Didn't anyone consider that PLAY and PAY might sound very similar, when sung in a crowd..?
  16. Do you work for the United Nations..?
  17. Well this is it, isn't it. It's the thing certain people have been banging on about about for months, and it's true. You can't start the season with -10 points AND then give everyone a form start by taking 10 games to wipe out the penalty. I know it's being said so regularly that people are well and truly p!ssed off to read it again, but it's true. A two-week preseason, and turning jaded players around, who you can see aren't up to the job, without additional major help, plus -10 points IS too much to reasonably ask. And I don't give a monkey's that Leeds got to the playoffs with a -15 penalty, either. They ended up with 76 points anyway, and that won't get you into the playoffs this season.
  18. I was only kidding. Forgot to put the necessary smiley on. EDIT: BTW, I finished my Brian O'Neil pic. I gave up on the player for the opposition. He was probably in away colours anyway, and I can't remember who vaguely played in what, for which club, for about two games, back in 1973. So here's Brian coming away with the ball, against Newcastle United [we think] in season 1972-73. Note the crowd clothing is still greyed out. This is because crowds didn't wear the shirt back then, and anyway, they are in the distance, so colours would be much less intense. Besides, people wore duller clothes back then. That's my excuse, for not colouring them, anyhow.
  19. stmusicdude - I'm aware they don't have a very good away record, but their manager Lee Clark, believes they've turned the corner on that front. We'll see against Gillingham. It could be that Saints have plunged them back into their away game problems, but one thing is true; there they are, in a very good position in the table, at present. You don't get there by not doing reasonably well. yorkiesaint - When I did the Predictor again, I was putting down scores that reflect the goals Saints have been getting all season. Quite a few of the wins were 3-1s - let's face it, it is our popular score. But there were several 1-0s and 2-0s too. I don't think I put in a single 4-1 or 5-1, so that GD just comes from steadily outscoring the opposition. I don't think +54 is impossible, but probably unlikely. The issue isn't GD anyway. If we get to the playoffs, I'm pretty sure we'll have outscored everybody, or nearly everybody. Funnily enough, a pundit on SKY reckons Rickie will score 40 goals by the end of the season alone. Frankly, I can't see him dong that from this standpoint. I can see +54 before that.
  20. Before being thrashed by Saints, Huddrsfield had won their last 3 away games.
  21. Hmm, now what can it be..? Curious..!?! Ah... I know. A little matter of a game with Carlisle around that date perhaps..? :smt041
  22. I'm sure you are. Personally, I'd like the England radar to be well away from our Rickie. We can't spare him.
  23. Sorry overseas peeps, but those 5 goals are just peachy to watch, again and again: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/default.stm
  24. Ah well that's all right then. Air New Zealand it is for me then next time. And there I was thinking I was going to have to put up with Singapore Airlines.
