Fair post this. I don't think I have enjoyed an away games less. Souless. Looking down the pitch it puts you off when you can see cars driving along a road about 10 metres above the eyeline of their stand. I have respect for fans of clubs like Orient and Northampton too and I hate those arrogant chants of "we've got more fans than you" etc etc. We should be applauding these sort of fans and taking the **** out of plastic mancs etc - they are the real frauds. Job done today - but we have a long way to go.

Love to chat to you on this. I really dont rate Morgan and thought he was anonymous today. I keep thinking I must be missing something but I am damned if I can see it.
-
I think that is Gunner from Fair Oak
-
I don't think he reads any other posts other than his own. Probably too many cans of Red Stripe Just joking Docker.
-
Absolutely spot on.

Yea but my great Grandad watched them in sashes, then cherry halves, then cherry quarters before stripes so shove that in your pipe Also in the twenties and thirties we had navy blue shorts so should we go back to them as well? The sash would look good for just one season and then we could go back to stripes.

Just back, Andy - The scoreline did not flatter Northampton - they outplayed us completely in the 2nd H. Another 5 minutes and it would have been Tranmere all over again.
-
I have to say, as the club historian I think this is quite brilliant and stylish. Personally I would lose the scarf on the badge. I have one of the original sashes actually worn in our original kit and this kit does it justice. Nice one MLG

Yea away wins are usually very enjoyable but today wasn't. Very frustrating.
-
Thought we were very poor 2nd half, no midfield, giving he ball away constantly and we let Northampton boss us and get back into game we should have closed down. Midfield is Problem.
-
On my way back Nickg - just having a pint in W Ilsley. Glad we won but the 2nd half was the worst I have seen this season. 3 nil up w should have cruised it but we could not keep possesion and our midfield were out fought. Another 5 mins and we would have been looking at a Tranmere situation. The cup is all about winning and we did but don't get carried away as if you would!

I have already had a word with relevant parties at Solent Uni, Eelpie. Hopefully we will get a yes.

Get in Tim, love your mac! Well done, It will be good to bring him over. James, Andy and I are very grateful for your continued GITR help.
-
I'd love to but it is terribly libelous and I don't want to give Steve Grant kittens. Over a pint mind you, my lips tend to loosen!

Could well be I wonder how long hart will have to wait before his contract is fully paid up?
-
Using your crafty notion of highlighting the last 11 games, instead of say the last 4. Come on Nick we weren't all born yesterday. No doubt we will see you on Question Time very soon.
-
Hypo - you should have seen me at 9:45 when the Hartlepool win was confirmed. Having been a Saints fan a long time now I just don't count my chickens - sorry it was the way I was brought up. If you think I am bad you should meet my Dad - he's twice as bad and drives me mad with his pessimistic view. If we beat Man Utd in the Champions League final 6-0 my Dad's first comment would be something along the lines "don't think our centre-half coped very well with Rooney!!

Kingsland - there is no doubt the only way is up now - we have survived all the **** that all clubs will have to navigate ie new ground (just look at Everton) and administration (loads of clubs facing that). Great we have come out the other side financially secure albeit in the 3rd tier. I have no doubt within 2 years we will be a CCC team and there is a good chance we can make the Prem (if it still exists) within another 2 years. However right now we are very much in transition and the whole point of me daring to criticise NickG's fluffy optimism is to make sure we keep a sense of perspective. I have never been one to say I have caught a fish until it is frying in my pan and imo NickG is just a little too gung ho with his exuberance. However having said that Nick is quite entitled to offer his optimistic view on life and there is nothing wrong with cheering Hypo up (no offence) with a load of stats with W in it. We all need a genuine lift after the last 5 years as you correctly point out. But I bet you AP does not subscribe to this beating of the chest, haven't we done well mentality. Personally I like to celebrate after the ref's final whistle not while we are still languishing in a relegation position. As Nick said earlier it is all about personality and how we all view Saints and our support but there are two sides to every spun coin and those that would rather not count their chickens (or fish) before the whistle has blown should be allowed their say, without prejudice. Cheers anyway.

I assume you meant to say Grant instead of the 2nd Hart? Grant, despite his tenure at Chelsea when he inherited a very expensive side, is unproven as a manager and it is interesting that after he was sacked at Cheldea no one else came in for him. If I was a Poopey fan God forbid I would have preferred to have kept Hart.

I have always found the Panda in Bedford Place to be good.
-
So we have a chief executive being charged with tax evasion A delusional penniless Chairman who according to the press this morning was not aware the manager was being sacked and disagrees with the decision. A mystery owner who has never visited the club and who has never even spoken to the manager on the phone. A major shareholder who's father is wanted for gun running. A decent manager who was doing as best as could be hoped, dismissed with no one else lined up. A DoF who was unaware the manager was being sacked, who is in Germany and appears not be able to get a work permit. A transfer embargo on signing players. A ramshackle ground and the embarrassment of pulling out of hosting the 2018 games. No wonder the Guardian this morning has described recent events at Fratton as "resembling a lost episode of Faulty Towers".

Hypo, I am really glad you are enjoying your football - seriously I am. In fact, so am I. I'm off to Northampton on Saturday and looking forward to it. The trouble I have with NickG is that he seems almost evangelic in his efforts to convince us we are world beaters, albeit in the 3rd tier. All I am trying to point out is that despite this so called great run of ours over the last 11 games we are still only 3 points off bottom place. With all Nick's stats that is almost unbelievable and a contradiction to your statement that we are "currently on a very good run of form" and "seeing a load of wins". Stats are meaningless (how about 5 points from the last 12?) - every manager will tell you its the position in the table they go by! Yes we nearly went out of existance, yes we got saved but how long should we be doffing the cap of gratefulness? Sorry Hypo (no offence) I was brought up in an era of top-flight football and beating Hartlepool away 3-1 might be a good night's work on the evening, will not have me clamouring for a seat on the end-of-season open top bus, Nick has lined up.
-
Nick it is you who are obsessed - look at the time of your OP, you were obviously primed and ready to go with your crafted spin at the final whistle. You paint a one-sided picture with your carefully selected stats (a politician's trick if ever there was one) and before you know it there is talk of play offs etc when the reality is we are still only 3 points (last night's win if you like) from bottom place and would only be 11th if we got our 10 points back. We are building slowly but like I said there are big flaws in our team in all areas which suggests realistic expectations this season, despite your fluffy stats, should be no more than mid-table at best. Just my thoughts Nick - I am sorry if you have a problem with me disputing your "everything is rosy" opinion? I thought that's what people do on forums?
-
That makes sense. Play off talk is far-fetched and not a little arrogant at present. Great to win but let's get out of the bottom 4 first and keep our feet firmly on the ground. There are still big flaws in that team and yet Nick seems on a one man mission to convince us all that Saints can do no wrong. There is a difference to being positive and gung-ho. And Hypo, no offence but you remind me of Black Adder's mate in the trenches, was he called George?

Pompey sack manager - is there a place for this
Fitzhugh Fella replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
You're up late - are you celebrating the double? Saints winning and the possibility that GB could, just could be Poopey's next manager? I shan't sleep with that enchanting prospect dangling over the night ahead.
