  1. Fat Sam, Lambert or Irvine.
  2. Because goals and assists are a far more tangible commodity in a game of football. Yes Morgan is one of the best at interceptions etc but its almost impossible to directly link that to clean sheets for example.
  3. I'm not fussed on any of those to be honest, with the exception of Forster who I expect us to sign. We never wanted Caulker anyway, we weren't beaten to him.
  4. *calling Matthew Le Stats to isle 3*

Yes, without a doubt. I just mean he is in a realistic position and has been very vocal about wanting the top job. Wouldn't blame him in the slightest, just an observation.

I hadn't heard about that forward planning! Impressive in theory.
  7. Exactly, well surmised.

Certainly sounds like if ever the Dutch job came calling he would be off though.
  9. Standard negotiation, I'd be more alarmed if they accepted our first offer to be honest (unless they were in well documented dire financial problems)
  10. I'm surprised he's not been linked more publicly to be honest.
  11. Wanyama would be DM with the strict instruction to pass 5 yards to the likes of Cork/Davis/JWP etc
  12. 2-7-1 I'm a firm believer in controlling the midfield.
  13. The trouble is there is a fine balance in stifling the huge potential of JWP and Reed. Ahead of them we already have Cork, Davis, Wanyama (+ Morgan). I am genuinely excited about Reed and confident we will see a much improved JWP this year as well.
  14. For me the only way the Clasie story can be true is if we are about to lose Morgan.
  15. I'm with Alpine on this one. We have more enough already in our squad to cover the loss of Morgan.
  16. Can people actually read back over previous comments rather than whinging that we've lost out on Caulker and going into meltdown over the fact QPR have beaten us to this signing. I'm going to say it just one more time to spell it out.... Saints were NEVER in for Caulker. We did NOT meet the release clause and did not even make enquiries. I know this for a fact. Literally no need for this thread to remain open.
  17. No, we didn't. We weren't interested.
  18. Completely agree. My biggest concern regarding Morgan is who he ends up with. I can understand someone like Arsenal but I will not be able to stomach seeing him playing for Spuds.
  19. Although immensely disappointing we could handle losing Schneiderlin IMO. Our CM is packed with options and I genuinely believe that Harrison Reed is going to be a star!
  20. As unreliable as Goal is, I want to believe there is more to the Rojo story. He fits exactly our policy of signing up and coming players who are just establishing themselves as internationals. It is also worth noting that he is equally comfortable at centre back as he is left back which could kill two birds with one stone (in terms of additional central cover). This would also mean a bit of flexibility to allow Targett to progress through as and when he is ready. As its an exciting link (tenuous or not) here's the obligatory video -
  21. I'm sure we will. We're just testing the water I suspect.
  22. BBC Solent Sport ‏@solentsport 1m Our colleagues at @BBCSportScot report that Celtic have rejected a bid from #SaintsFC for goalkeeper @FraserForster. Not close to £7.5m tho. Nabil Hassan ‏@NabilHassan79 5m Sorry, this addition from @BBCSportScot on Forster to #saintsfc: 'The offer made was derisory & well below the figures reported of £7.5m'.
  23. That's a fair point and I fully appreciate that. However we have just brought in circa £60 million, there should be no need to compromise IMO.
  24. I fully understand what priority means thank you. I'm not suggesting we should go out and buy someone to specifically be 4th choice. I'm saying at the start of last season we all agreed we must sign a CB to replace Fonte. It turned out that Lovren was the perfect partner for him though and undoubtedly raised his game. It remains to be seen how he will react to Lovren leaving, but I think that will need addressing at some point in the not too distant future. Combine all that with the threadbare backup options and that is why I'm saying we need two centre backs. Lovren Fonte Yoshida Jos Replacement Replacement Fonte Yoshida
  25. In an ideal world it would be the below, though as we all know we don't live in one. Forster Clyne Fonte De Vrij Rojo Wanyama Schneiderlin Davis Ramirez Tadic Pelle
