I hope you're right, but I worry about his lack of pace. Would be interesting to see him paired with anyone but Hoedt. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I'm not sure he wanted a bloated squad. Most people agreed we needed Tadic, Boufal, Forster replacements in the summer, plus a tall CB and a striker who could score. We got all those (albeit maybe not as good as we might have hoped). The problem was failing to offload anyone bar Tadic. When we're successful, teams clamour to buy from us. It's a different story when we've scraped survival. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I can't disagree with any of that. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Never knew that Mark is his middle name. Apparently his first name is Lesley. [emoji44][emoji3525] Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Have you seen the size of Bournemouth, Huddersfield and Cardiff wage bills compared with ours? Can't remember exactly but I think we're paying about four times as much. Remember Carrillo, Boufal, Forster and others on loan. Plus payoff for Pellegrino, of course. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Great. But are you sure you're not sitting on your fence? We need you now. [emoji23] Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

All of that is decent thinking. Are you available fir a managerial position? [emoji6] Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I'm agreeing with you: it's tempting to put it down to bad luck, but you're right - it's not that (except when good goals are disallowed). And teams with the right attitude bounce back from bad luck. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

A final thought on the team selection. Sorry, Charlie, but you contributed very little. So what was the point of playing him? Romeu can be a liability, bur he gives the defence some protection, and whatever pair we choose at the moment needs protection! (As an aside, I'm at a loss to know our best pairing, just like MH is. Vestergaard is too slow, Hoedt shows bad judgement and bad positioning, Stephens I like but is weak in the air, Maya is usually ok, but I think was struggling with Hoedt on Saturday and I've forgotten about Bednarek, but isn't he reasonable?) If we'd played without an out-and-out striker, with Romeu, Hojbjerg and Lemina, we would still have a decent attack of Armstrong, Gabbiadini and Redmond. As likely to get goals as anyone else - these got two and should have been more on Saturday. And that would give Lemina licence to be more advanced and do his tricks in more dangerous areas. Yes. Been obvious for some time that there's enormous mental fragility. We've forgotten how to win and it's clearly very frustrating. We are actually playing some decent football but failing at key moments, both in attack and defence. It's tempting to put it down to bad luck, but it's effort, determination and grit. Better fitness would be a good starting point. As someone once said, the harder I work, the luckier I get. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

It's significant. The payoff costs, plus wages for failures are adding up. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

What I guessed. We just have to hope that somehow things suddenly turn round. It can happen - look at Huddersfield. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

But not fatal. Am I the only one who's realised that the Kasilovinov variation allows Turnham Green? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Yes, but we've been like that for a bit. Teams that play quite attractive football but are "unlucky" and keep losing go down. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I try to be a reasonable optimist and realist. You can't just make poor players vanish and there won't be good replacements available in January. Likewise, paying off Hughes when we're still paying off Pellegrino and possibly Puel, and paying the wages of the likes of Forster, Boufal and Carrillo isn't something that can be taken on lightly. But the alternative is losing the Premier income which would be disastrous for the club and the city. We've reached the point where we're stuck in a dangerous rut and I don't think Hughes can get us out. We were recently considered boring by a contingent on here, but we could defend. Teams can be reasonably successful by grinding out results, playing not well, but amassing points. (Burnley) But once you're consistently playing some attractive football but not winning because of stupid mistakes and lack of fitness, the rot has set in. We just haven't got the necessary backbone. The key problem is we've got no one capable of choosing a replacement. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

We've now got the shape I didn't want, assuming Gabbiadini is now alone as a striker. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
