Saints 0 Man Utd 0 - Buildup, Match and over-reactions Thread
Shroppie replied to Heisenberg's topic in The Saints
At least Man U now have no possibility of top 4, so all their eggs are totally in the Europa basket. Ought to help us. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk -
Yes I was, and no they didn't. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Seconded. And I'm not keen on Silva. And please don't start listing wildly unrealistic "big" names. Still not sure Puel will go. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I think "alongside a lot of average sides" is about right for us this season. We'll never know how well we'd have done if any of a whole range of factors had been different - the Fonte shinanigans, a proper replacement when he went, injuries, different manager, less rotation, more rotation, different tactics. I'm not 100% happy with Puel but on balance think he deserves another season, if he wants it. And on the changes yesterday, Puel's got a lose-lose situation. He hasn't actually made many changes recently, so the team have had a chance to build understanding and coherence. That's had mixed success so perhaps new faces were needed. But his declared intention was to keep the team fresh and fit, so we can probably expect him to revert on Weds. So is that unfair on players who came in and had decent games, or unfair on the "first team" who are getting used to playing together consistently if he keeps some of yesterday's players? Can't win. A3, and sort of B2, in that ideally for me the Tories would be the biggest party but with a reduced or no majority, stopping the more extreme of their policies. Won't happen, though. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

You're absolutely right. And there are plenty of disappointed moaners around today who are really struggling to find a credible criticism of yesterday. Still some repeating their mantra of negative football (it wasn't), wrong team (it worked well and rested players), wrong subs (Redmond was key) and I could go on but won't bother. It's fine to be critical if you've actually seen a game and there is something to criticise. But simply repeating the same soundbites regardless of the evidence is lazy, illogical and unintelligent. (But it seems to be working for Theresa May, but that's for another thread entirely) Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

18 goals in 9 games is 2 per match. I seem to recall be scored exactly that. And I accept we missed a penalty and could/should have had more. But we won comfortably. I'm not celebrating like we won the World Cup. Just happy with a win. What's wrong with that? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

They barely got into our half before half time, and had absolutely no chances. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

My feelings exactly. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Yes. And no fans are representative. They're all just fans, with their own views. I do that know whether you think you're being clever or funny, but you're neither. So presumably you're just having a go at me. I've been around far too long to be bothered. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Which is probably typical for a mid-table team. If we were regularly beating the top 6, we'd probably be top 4, and the truth is we're not that good. But we're not bad either. With a B team, we played some decent football today, should have won by a hatful, but won. We weren't boring. We attacked. We won. And be careful about judging fan unrest by a bunch of ranting posters on here. I was at the game today, spoke with plenty of fans and the overwhelming feeling was that Puel has his faults, but hasn't done a bad job. It's worth reflecting that we could have done a lot worse this season. We're not sweating on relegation, we've been to Wembley and had an exciting (if ultimately anticlimactic) adventure in Europe. Thank you Saints, and Claude. I've had a great season. I guess some others have far higher, and probably unrealistic expectations. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

No. If they beat Palace they will still be a point behind them, with a far worse GD, so they'd have to win again to stay up. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Not really. Hull would still have to win last two. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

At the game. In control. Usual story, no final cutting edge. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

It wasn't made up. If you actually read my post, I said I had heard fans (it was actually just two) expressing the opinion. And if you also take the time to read later posts (not mine) you'll see that sentiment has been repeated. But I stand by what I said. Some fans (not me) aren't happy that we have a French manager.
