Will Roko and the board go for broke in January!!!
Shroppie replied to Bermuda Saint's topic in The Saints
This. Other teams' transfer activity in the summer proves that you don't buy success with random big money buys. Our approach has been proved to work. Identify needs then match to players with the right mentality and skills to fill the gaps and fit in with the current squad. Don't buy a star player then change everything to fit around that player. Wouldn't be surprised if our activity is limited to maybe signing up Toby and Bertrand plus perhaps backup keeper and, depending on Jrod situation, a striker. Cork's contract is an interesting one. Got a feeling we have a target in mind to replace/upgrade and Jack may not get the renewal. Which would be a shame. -
It's immediate

Lowe wanted the cheap cheap option And thought he knew best
-
On the other hand, as he seems to have picked some up for rather silly reasons, perhaps he can manage to avoid any for a bit. It's not as if he's a defender sometimes having to make risky challenges. Maybe RK needs to gave a quiet word

End of December. Then there's a suspension for 10 by the end of April.

I have a lot of respect for Nigel Pearson. He instilled belief in team that had none and saved us from relegation, against the odds. Didn't deserve to be pushed out. Yes, we've had technically better managers but his commitment and passion were great and he had a really good close rapport with fans.

I'll happily agree with your excellent observations. I always enjoy a day in Hull: apart from a few idiots (and it has to be said provoked by idiots of our own) the fans are friendly, enjoy talking about the game and give credit where due. And I think Hull are a decent side who should have no trouble staying up.

So does a moderately p!ssed Shroppie :)

What a great day. Always enjoy a trip to Hull and a win makes it even better. Several good pints, excellent curry now fantastic cheesy music in a dubious pub waiting for the train home. Good time to be a Saints fan. ?

I'm really beginning to think we're invisible. If we finish 2nd, the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th teams will get CL.
-
If anyone else is looking, mine's available. PM if interested. Daughter thoughtlessly getting married that day. To an Arsenal fan. ?

My guess is just the usual paper talk encouraged by agent touting him around. And it's the Mirror
-
Would agree with that. Was surprised he was so rooted to his line but guess he was well blocked off by a very physical team. Would still like to see him come off his line more and take command. It takes pressure off defenders and in any collision the benefit for a free kick usually goes to the keeper.

Just back from the game. Great first half, superb Pelle strike and good to see Long get a goal. Garden and Targett dud well, midfield very assured. Could have had 2 more. Worrying that we tired under the physical barrage in the second half. Tadic faded and Pelle looked out on his feet. Midfield mistakes crept in, Wanyama the worst culprit but not alone. Forster didn't take charge when they had a series of corners and the equaliser was inevitable. Great character though to come back for the win, well taken by Pelle, great reaction. Hard to pick between Fonte, Davis and Pelle for MOTM. Tough job to recover for Hull.

See you about 5:30!

Because my friend is ill I have a spare senior (over 65) ticket for the game. Free to the first reply.
-
I'm more than happy for him to have a low (invisible) profile instil the end of January!
-
The only signings I'm concerned to see will be Cork and Jrod.
-
At least 2. I'm going with a mate. Is Targett fit? If so, think he'll play.
-
True. But would Lallana have found 4 assists and a goal on Saturday?
-
Interesting watching AL's performance. He added movement and energy but, in contrast with Tadic, it usually came to nothing rather than the telling ball to set up a chance. We definitely have the better player.
-
I'll be there as it's only down the road. For information, it's always windy, frequently cold and usually wet.

"Southampton are the real f**king deal this season..."

Excellent idea but will need a very advanced swear filter
