Gordon Brown didn’t cause the financial crash but it didn’t work out too well for him. Fact is many people vote for selfish reasons and if they feel like they are worse off they are less likely to vote for the incumbent. The Conservatives try and win votes by painting themselves as the experts on the economy yet come ballot time everyone will remember this:
-
Never said it was the primary reason, it’s just a factor that will make a difference. Great point as usual tho
-
Because, even ignoring the rise in house prices and cost of living, it’s not as easy to get a mortgage now as it was in the 90s when I got on the ladder. Buying a house for me was actually easier than renting. To rent you usually needed to pay a months rent deposit plus a months rent up front to even get a place. I bought a house when I had next to nothing in the bank, that’s just impossible today.
-
It would be harder for someone in that situation today.
-
Maybe, but they would probably have to save for a deposit. When I brought my first house I had not long left uni and barely had a penny to my name. I got a 101% mortgage and brought a 3 bed in that range. As I said, we had it piss easy in comparison.
-
I don’t think that’s fair. It’s incredibly hard for young people nowadays to get on the ladder compared to when I brought my first house, even for those with half decent jobs who are careful with their money. Renting is just throwing money down the drain so it’s only natural that many will be maxed out already and hit hard by the rate rise. Comparatively me and my parents generation have had it piss easy, many sat on massive equity with decent pensions just through riding the house bubble.
-
There are all sorts of reasons why people vote how they do, if people feel worse off it generally doesn’t help the party in power, that is just obvious.
-
I wasn’t moaning about my mortgage, I’m on a fixed for a while yet. My point was that if people are struggling financially they tend to take it out on the party in power when they vote. I would imagine they will this time particularly given how the Conservatives crashed the economy so spectacularly causing rates to shoot up. That spell it out clearly enough for you or do you want me to draw some pictures with crayons?
-
Also, with every month that goes by there are thousands more people who are worse off because they have had to renew their mortgage.
-
They are a complete mess under Sunak, it's just gaff after gaff. Last week it was them making a big song and dance about extremists hijacking our democracy, now it turns out extremists are funding their party. You couldn't make it up.

Kensington Palace needs to employ someone better at Photoshop? It really is a load of fuss about nothing, pretty much everything you see is photoshopped to some extent, they have just done a shit job.
-
It’s not that black and white though is it, one alternative would be to respond with a degree of concern for the welfare of the innocent people in Gaza. Maybe let them have water, food and medical supplies. What is going on there now is medieval. You have kids who have been bombed having their limbs amputated without anaesthetic or even pain relief. Women giving birth via C section under the same conditions. Kids staving to death.
-
Short term they have reduced Hamas's capabilities but long term they have just made the situation worse. Hatred for Israel and support for Hamas in the region has grown and that will only end up with another situation like before.
-
They won't eliminate Hamas and they know it. They are just handing out revenge in the form of collective punishment of everyone in Gaza.
-
Same could be said of Israel to be fair.
-
Could work in our favour, PNE are in good form and we have key players out. With a bit of luck PNE might have nothing to play for when it is rearranged.
-
Those sort of fires take ages to put out don't they? Can't see it going ahead.

I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories but there must be some crazy reason why there are not two better candidates up for the job of leader of the free world. I kinda get the Trump thing, he's bat-shit crazy but has his cult following, how the hell no one has replaced Biden needs some explaining. You would just have to be youngish and slightly human and it would be a democrat slam dunk. As it stands they are leaving the door wide open for the orange man, doesn't make any sense to me.
-
What does that even mean? Stop trying to win football matches because we might not win enough to get an automatic spot? Genius.
-
We’re obviously not favourites to go up but there is still a long way to go, the picture can change quickly with a few results. Think the break will do us good, if we can stay in touch after the next couple of games it is all to play for.
-
Everyone is aware, but nothing is done about it, that is probably part of SOG's point. As Frankie Boyle says: "If we can have a genocide live-streamed during the Super Bowl and say nothing, theres no challenge in the coming years that we won’t fail."
-
If the club go ahead with their plan we will just end up with the people who usually sit in the Northam/Itchen corner moving to the Chapel and Kingsland corner to be near the away fans. The Northam will just end up like the Chapel and the club will have achieved nothing.

You just don't like the links because they show what "your side" are doing.

Because he was better placed to make the header.

Looked like Jan should have left it for Manning to me.
