  1. I don`t know anyone who died in the war (any war come to think of it) but that doesn`t stop me paying my respects on a yearly basis to those who did. Nobody is asking you to grieve. Just pay a small respect to those 550 Southampton residents (many of whom may have been Saints fans) who died that night. Alpine was asking if the club was going to do anything to just mark the centenary of the biggest peacetime tragedy to hit the city. I don`t really mind if they do or they don`t, but there does seem to be some strange attitudes coming out on this thread.
  2. An unbelievably crass statement but somewhat typical of modern morality. I don`t know anyone who died in the War but I wouldn`t disrespect them with remarks like that.
  3. Kato, his trusty side-kick??
  4. They were people that lived in the city (or town as it was then) and a lot were born in the city and had children at local schools.
  5. I believe that around 550 people from Southampton died in the tragedy. 550 in one night. The club wants to be an integral part of the community so I for one do not see any harm if they mark the day in some small way.
  6. He was VERY good at that!!
  7. I don't think that Alpine should banned. He not as offensive as some, but I do find his constant negativity incredibly tiresome. Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk
  8. Why cant you just accept that we dont believe everything is that negative currently?
  9. The problem is that a few posters on here (you included) only seem to post negative things even when things are going well. You were convinced that we would lose by 3 clear goals today after we went 1 down. People just get ****ed off with your continual negative take on everything. You must understand that. 10. But Alpine said we would lose by 3 clear goals. He has no faith in Saints at all. Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk
  11. I guess it`s because WE ARE!! I know that it doesn`t fit the serial moaners on here, but we are having a bad run and are still top. We were always going to have a bad run at some time.
  12. Did you go to the JPT Final?
  13. Should have had a hat trick if I remember correctly. Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk
  14. I think that Peter Shilton did it at The Dell for Leicester around 1967
  15. Surely this applies to all "rascist" remarks.
  16. Are people from Portsm*uth the exception? This is actually a semi-serious question. If the (acceptable?) hate displayed on this forum towards Pompey fans was transfered to any other sector of the community it would soon be stamped on. What actually is the difference? It is hate based on where these people come from and what team they support. I am not knocking it. I am as bad as anyone else when it comes to the Skates, but just wonder where the line is drawn.
  17. I try to go through life without knowingly offending anyone. I try not to be rascist, sexist, gingerist, shortist, baldist or any other -ist you care to mention, but I get very annoyed at the ease at which these various cards are played. I can`t believe that real people nowadays are actually as sensitive and easily offended as is made out. I have so many things going on in my life that I, as a white person, can`t be bothered to be offended at what Ms Abbott said. I am just waiting for the time when I am playing a game with my grandchildren, saying "Boo!" and being accused of being "Goose-ist".
  18. I really hope that your remark comes back to bite you on 7th April.
  19. Why??
  20. Surely it is getting very difficult to say what is rascist and what is not. I have heard people say that they going for a chinky take-away. Is that "rascist"? Is it meant in a derogatory way? I find it very confusing as to what and what is not acceptable when talking about black people. It seems to change. I said to someone the other day that "I was talking to this coloured guy". I did not mean it in a rascist way, but I understand that the word is now apparently offensive and that "black" is now O.K. Must be my advanced years, but I could do with an updated "do/don`t" glossary of terms that are currently acceptable and those that are not. I would have thought that the most offensive word used on this and other forums is "mong", but this is hardly commented on.
  21. It might seem a bit cruel laughing at this but it is a bugbear of mine that everyone should have at least a BASIC command of the English language. Use of capitals, some punctuation, half decent spelling and use of correct words (are/our, of/have etc.) shouldn`t be too difficult, should it?
