  1. Nah - I left Southampton in the late 1960s. I worked (as in danced) all over the place, mainly London, but I taught and had my shop in Buckinghamshire. Why?
  2. I've had a couple of these recently and, like you, I've ignored them completely. I'm with 02 but I reckon it happens across all networks.
  3. WAS - I've retired now (although I suppose I've changed jobs yet again cos I look after my grandchildren two days a week).
  4. No, I was a properly trained professional dancer. Properly trained professional dancers, generally speaking, don't have much topless to shake about because they don't have any excess fat. HTH
  5. That's why I said 'area'. There are many, many interesting places in the area. Last time we stayed in Much Wenlock. Although we didn't realise it at the time, it has connections with the Olympics.
  6. Worked as a professional dancer / dance teacher / dancewear retail outlet owner. Dancers have short professional lives (especially female ones). So went back to college then worked for the NHS as a Project Manager and then Project / Contracts auditor. HUGE change of direction lol
  7. Norfolk Poss city break by train - Bruges or Amsterdam again maybe Ironbridge area
  8. Not for me, it wasn't. I don't have any trouble understanding what Verbal has to say. I think his points are succinct and in no way magniloquent.
  9. Would you kindly translate this into words that a simpleton like me can understand, please? Having googled magniloquent, I have only one thing to say: Pot, kettle, black
  10. I think the 'old dears' still volunteer for Oxfam - they certainly do in my local shop. But there's so much competition for 'old dears' with so many charity shops in every town. Charities are going to have an even tougher time with local government funding being withdrawn from so many, and I think the little local ones will suffer far more than the well-known ones.
  11. I sort of agree with what you're saying Sergei but, given your last sentence, do you not think it's possible that Lenny Henry does, in fact, do a lot more than appear on CR once every 18 months? He may be being quiet about what he does. But I do agree with that last sentence of yours. But there's a problem and it's a problem with charity giving in general. Charities have to appeal for funds and there are two meanings to the word 'appeal'. Appeal as in 'ask for' and appeal as in 'be attractive to'. Unfortunately some charities are not as 'appealing' as others and I guess that's why there are programmes like CiN and CR - to bring our attention to the less attractive ones that are just as deserving.
  12. Watching the news just now, and the item on the debate in the HoC, I noticed that Comedy Dave's hair is whipping back at the crown and he's taken to doing a comb-over (or rather a comb-back). I think I'll pop down the road tonight to his HQ and offer him a bottle of Regaine.
  13. I do struggle to understand why the prices are so high now. OK I understand that the price of a barrel on the markets is c £117 but it has been much higher (£126 pb in 2009) yet prices at the pump have never been this high. Surely it's not the oil companies profiteering? http://www.ioga.com/Special/crudeoil_Hist.htm
  14. I'm sure the feeling's mutual.
  15. Dunce's usual modus operandi is to support the perceived winner. Remember in the election how he supported UKIP until it became apparent that UKIP had failed? Dunce became a born-again Tory.
  16. Aah the renowned 'heel and toe'. I used to impress when I did that. I'm too old now, though
  17. Why thank you I'm not, but I AM honest and it WAS a very run-down area in the 60s. Because I moved away (actually from Sholing) in the late 60s, I have no knowledge of how it was in the 70s and onwards. You obviously do, so I'll bow to your superior knowledge. Good news if it improved.
  18. I often employ the good old 'switch on my lights for a split second' ploy. Instinctively the bumper rider thinks I'm braking and pulls back.
  19. And always has been - and I'm going back 50 years!
  20. But how do we get round the fact that he's using human shields in strategic areas? I know that's why one sortie pulled out this morning, so how else can we neutralise his defences?

  22. If you don't donate, you have absolutely no mandate to say how it should be used. People decide how it should be used by voting with their wallets.
  23. Goodness me - you're a very fast reader So you would have realised then that the articles weren't controversial or denigrating but quite simply stated the facts. Is that what the Sunday Sport does? http://www.sundaysport.com/ So it does
  24. http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2011/mar/19/budget-squeeze-families-tax It is to be hoped that Gorgeous George will address the many anomalies in his previously annouced plans. For example: "The figures underline the impact on families if there is just one main earner, with a partner staying at home to raise children. David Kilshaw, chair of private client advisory at KPMG, says: "The analysis shows how the change to the higher rate threshold affects families where there is one main breadwinner in that bracket. Our family on £43,500, where there is a single income, is £645 worse off next year, whereas a family with a combined income of £44,000 is £22 better off.""
