  1. What I actually meant was that there ought to be some sort of regulation of Insolvency and Administration 'experts' and CVAs. Football clubs are beyond the financial laws of this country it seems. PFC being liars and cheats is as plain as the nose on your face
  2. You'd think the Financial Services Authority would have some jurisdiction here. After all, it amounts to lying and cheating.
  3. Did you see how uncomfortable Cleggon looked when DC was answering EM about the NHS? Maybe it was because DC had to field two aggressive questions from Lib MPs. Maybe he (Clegg) realises, finally, that it isn't quite working out as he'd imagined.
  4. They'll get a massive return on that little investment!
  5. From that link: Sorry, you clicked a link to an article that we've detected is no longer available on the publication's website. Please close this window and try clicking a link to another article.
  6. These days, don't you have to provide a washing machine and cooker, even in an unfurnished property?
  7. Deadwax again: http://www.new-reviews.co.uk/?p=1491
  8. I thought that a company could only come out of administration if the terms of the CVA were agreed by the relevant creditors. If the terms of the CVA change, do not the creditors have a right to have the CVA revisited?
  9. I can also manage a bit of Spanish and Italian (enough to order beers, coffee, ask directions and ask if people can speak English). I have a very small smattering of Greek and I did briefly learn Russian many years ago. With both these languages, I struggled with the cyrillic (sp?) alphabet.
  10. So I'm told
  11. Shouldn't it be: If there were [to be] an election tomorrow?
  12. Wasn't I reading just the other day that one of the American banks (JP Morgan?) was in trouble because it had a hedge fund that bet on the banks (collectively) failing?
  13. Seems to me that everything in your life is. Tell me, do you EVER smile? Are you EVER happy? Or is your username just a self-fulfilling prophesy?
  14. He's smart enough to work this out for himself actually. He's got to save for HIS old age 'cos I sure as hell won't be around when he retires
  15. You going to start the ball rolling then?
  16. You mean the 'greengrocers' apostrophes'? I'm so tempted to rub them out if I see them on, for instance, a board outside a butcher's shop or similar. GRRRR! Although I know it's perfectly proper grammar, I'm fed up with hearing 'the event impacted the victim' (as an example). I'd rather hear 'the event had an impact on the victim. I also dislike 'going forward' and the American habit of answering a question with 'So ..........' Hey, I'm a grumpy old woman today
  17. Nah - wouldn't want to live there. Too many tax fraudsters. My 'location' is my homage to ML.
  18. Alcohol, nicotine and a much younger partner. Easy
  19. No but I deplore the ridiculous wages some sportsmen and women earn. But then that's Sky for you
  20. I couldn't wait to retire and did so last year. I've had a year's freedom and now I'm bored witless and struggling a bit on my meagre NHS pension. I'm lucky to have Mr TF to share the bills and of course he's got years of work ahead of him, but I don't want to be a kept woman. I'm going to try to find a part-time job because I do look after my grandchildren two days a week but I'm not sure how well someone of my age will fare. Having said that, I did change jobs easily about 18 months ago, but maybe that's because I look a lot younger than I actually am Wish me luck!
  21. And now it seems some of them even get a good wedge just for joining http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2011/jan/17/lloyds-banking-group-bonuses So, they get paid for starting work, they get paid extra (on top of their huge salaries) for doing their jobs properly (or not, in some instances) and some of them get paid handsomely for leaving. Jeez!
  22. Even a bank boss thinks bankers get paid too much! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-12209241
  23. I think he's saying this rule applies to the word 'it', not to any normal noun that is possessive TBF.
  24. Maybe, just maybe, my friend (and also her sister who's a flight attendant for a NZ airline) finds the term offensive. SHE calls HERSELF a flight attendant, so I'm basing my comments on HER experience. You got any other nits you want to pick?
