Bloody cheats!

Yes - my family - my great aunt, who was a tory councillor (and her husband and children who were active in her campaigns). Not my parents. Oh and when I was about 8 or 9, I did a lot of leafleting for her. Then I had the benefit of a good education and saw the light!

Dune - I generally have you on ignore but sometimes I have to read your silly diatribes because others quote you. FYI - whilst they voted Conservative, my parents were never 'activists'. My great aunt had been a Tory Councillor however. My father was a bricklayer who built up a very successful business but, in spite of that, I went to a state school and we only ever used the NHS. You'll be pleased to hear, no doubt, that my brother is almost as right-wing as you. So don't start making up stuff about me and my family - OK?

Oh I thought you were referring to 'our' Dune on here.

Lovin' it

Currently? No. Historically? Yes. . Interested peeps might not have seen it on the Sports Forum.

Haven't 'celebrated' for years. Yet another overrated non-event IMO. Anyway, we've got my 2 yo granddaughter staying for a couple of days and I'll probably be awake half the night because she doesn't like 'fineworks' as she calls them. We'll catch up on lots of recorded programmes rather than watch the 'entertainment' on offer on TV tonight and enjoy each other's company - who could want more?

Loving that word! I had to look it up, mind.

I was pleased to read this comment underneath the article: "Another recent report showed that left-wingers and liberals (with a small 'l') achieved slightly higher IQ scores than right-wingers. The report also said that right-wingers tended to be more focussed on issues relating directly to them, their family, locality and national issues; whereas left-leaning individuals were more likely to place emphasis on the needs of others, wider international concerns and the environment. "

I have to wait for Mr TF to dish up tonight's treat

Exactly - so he's as entrenched in his view as is Cable. So maybe he shouldn't be the final arbiter either.

The NHS ALWAYS bills for treatment after a car accident whether you have private medical insurance or not. If you were to have a stroke or heart attack, it would serve no purpose at all to go straight to a private hospital. They don't have the facilities or the expertise to deal with emergency medicine. And they wouldn't want to - it's far too expensive to equip for this and private health premiums would have to rise hugely to cover such a cost. In any event, they send their emergencies (e.g. bodged plastic surgery) to the NHS to correct.

I want the country to be on a stable footing. Of course I do - I don't want more people losing their jobs and homes. If the ONLY way that can happen is for the coalition to succeed, then so be it. I just don't believe their measures will deliver what we all want and, FWIW, I don't think it will last until 2015.

Why do you persist in putting words in my mouth? I don't see any digs. All I see is a blog on opinion polls (as others were debating this issue) and a 'conspiracy theory'. Your arrogance astounds me, quite frankly.

Your wife is, of course, correct as far as the toilet roll situation is concerned. There's a simple logic to her (and my) reasoning. Tug too hard on the TR if the end is at the front and it can unravel faster than you can shake a stick at. If the end is by the wall, there is less chance of this happening. This is based on my experience of what happens when you have puppies / small children in your house.

You're presuming to know what I'm thinking - yet again Once again, I posted some INFORMATION and an idea about the thinking behind the LibDem's leaks for consideration. I'm not so blinkered as to wish for the 'country' to fail. And you should not so arrogantly assume that I am.
