If 'forensic examination' is anything like audit then I can tell you that Terms of Reference are agreed for the work to be carried out. I'm an auditor and I wouldn't go outside my remit unless I'd got the agreement of the entity I was auditing (unless I thought that something criminal was going on). It appears that Grant Thornton did exceed their remit.

Here's an alternative: We (the state) don't borrow any money. Then we won't have to pay anywhere near so much in taxes. The outcome of this will be: 1. Businesses will fail because there's no money to borrow / no guarantees in place to enable them to borrow. 2. Unemployment will grow very quickly to a very high level because the businesses have failed. 3. There will be a huge increase in the amount paid out in benefits. 4. Because unemployment becomes rife, people don't spend. A reduction in revenue from VAT will ensue together with even more business failure / unemployment. 4. Failing businesses will mean an end to revenues from income tax / corporation tax So we'll end up with loads of unemployment and business failures and we will (as a state) pay for that how exactly? It may be unpalatable, but the cost of not borrowing would be even more damaging to all of us than the cost of borrowing. This is the conclusion that the majority of large economies in the world have come to, not just us.

That would be my take on it. I would assume that a new owner would take on the mortgage and pay it off over however many years there are remaining. Unless someone else buys the stadium and rents it back to the new owners. I'm not sure of my ground here but I don't think this mortgage is a 'football related debt'. I think the FRD is players wages etc. Can someone confirm or otherwise?

Whoever buys us doesn't have to pay off the £32m! It's a mortgage.

I wonder who, exactly, sought clarification from the FL, before SLH filed for administration, that SFC WOULDN'T suffer the -10 point penalty? And I wonder who, at the FL, gave them that assurance?

Whilst it is a bit of a worry that there is nothing concrete out there, I'm not surprised there are no BIDS on the table ATM. Due diligence has to be undertaken first. Once that's done, then the bid(s) will follow, I would have thought. One step at a time.
