Re the penalty incident we've had them given against us when our player has clearly tried to keep his arms behind his back. Hojbjerg made an instinctive move towards the ball with his arm. He tried to pull it away but was too late. Penalty all day for me.
-
Funny because he always seems to manage to talk some sense when Spurs win 🙂
-
Just a comment on the hypocrite that is Antonio Conte. To best demonstrate the point I think it's fair to say those clips of him complaining that we were claiming Broja was fouled could easily have been clips of him remonstrating had the exact same thing happened to Harry Kane
-
Do we start this one as favourites? 🙂
-
Might have missed it but has there been any official explanation on why we were denied a blatant penalty when Hojbjerg handled in our area? I mean come on, the guilty look on his face said it all, he knew he was guilty bang to rights and looked like a kid who'd been caught with his hand in the biscuit jar. Transfer the same incident to the other end with one of our players moving his arm towards the ball and we all know what would have happened.

I think he linked up really well with Perraud last night. If they can maintain that kind of partnership they'll be formidable down our left side.
-
I would get it if there had been a change in phase but the 'foul' won them the ball and from that moment they worked it up the pitch, into the box and scored so no change in phase.
-
Who are you with out of interest?
-
Foul all day long and quite a violent and reckless one.

Nihal Arthanayake, Tom Holland, Adele, Jude Law, Kenneth Branagh, Michael McIntyre, Paul Whitehouse, Antonio Conte, Daniel Levy, Lord Alan Sugar, Osvaldo Ardilles, Jurgen Klinsmann, Chas and Dave......your boys took a hell of a beating tonight.

We are developing some really strong partnerships all over the pitch. On the left Perraud is getting better with every game and tonight he brought out the best of Elyounoussi who deserved his goal - those two could be fantastic for us down that side. On the other flank we have KWP and Stuart Armstrong who were both brilliant today and Stu is so important to the momentum of the team with his driving runs now he is getting fitter. In the middle of the park JWP and Romeu keep things calm and measured and provide the link play from back to front. Two wonderful assists from Prowsey today and we all know about his free kick skills. Romeu breaks up play, intercepts and is always available. Up front Che and Broja are a handful for any defence and they weighed in tonight with two quality goals - I was so pleased to see Che get the winner. In the centre of defence Salisu is supreme ably supported by Bednarek with big Fraser behind them making vital saves when called upon. Not every game will see us play as well as we did tonight but these partnerships are the key to building a very good side.

Hopefully the Spurs fans will think of this game every time they sing our song. It might stick in their throats a bit now.

Conte can't bring himself to admit we outplayed his side. That performance by us hurt him so much - you could see it in his eyes. He's asking himself how a team like Southampton can come to his ground and wipe the floor with his players. His demeanour spoke volumes and it was a joy to watch him stumbling through that interview with about as many answers as his team had for us on the field.

Isn't it fantastic when justice is done. We thoroughly deserved that win having outplayed them for large chunks of the game. How we don't get a free kick for the assault on Broja leading to their second goal needs to be explained by the referee's union. To come back from that and score two superb headed goals is karma at its best. The whole team played superbly but a special word for Stuart Armstrong - now he is getting his fitness back he gives us another dimension. Brilliant Saints and so deserved on that performance.
-
Disgraceful. We've been cheated out of this as usual against these twats.
-
f**king cheats. That is a foul all day long. Typical big club gets the decision.
-
Don't think he did - it looked as though he was just telling the thrower to go back a bit.
-
We've absolutely murdered them. If it was a boxing match the referee would have stopped it. Should be 3 or 4-1 up. Would have liked to see us shout more for the Hojbjerg handball - where was VAR on that as it looked like a pen. Still, we know what happens now don't we.
-
Is Redmond injured? Not even on the bench.
-
Broja starts.
-
He's improved but needs to cut out the sloppy back passes where he seems to just assume there is no forward lurking without even bothering to check.
-
I wonder if we should set up very defensively for this game because Spurs are a counter attacking side. If we deny them the chance to break on us they might struggle to create many openings - we managed it with 10 men for a long period in the home game. If we press too much it might play into their hands. This feels like a game where we need to get our tactics spot on. Like others would be delighted with a draw.
-
Hats off to Valery for the superb assist though 🙂
-
Tough game against a side we rarely do well against. But with Hojbjerg playing for them there is always a chance. The key is to keep Kane and Son quiet but that is easier said than done. A draw would be a very good result.

Romeu has been a superb player for us and would start regularly at many other premier League clubs.
