Sadly, I suspect some of the 'ironic' posts have escaped you.

Perhaps you need to think a little more critically about 'linked' statements. The quote was : The phrase 'could be' is linked to 'unless', implying that if the Gov't did not act immediately by putting more restrictions in place (I believe the same 'experts' were calling for another lockdown), then 'could' will become 'would'. For the record, WFH is not compulsory.
-
Why? He asked for a link, I gave him one. Other than that I have made no other observations, apart from a dig at Ainclever who told us we should 'trust the experts' and that if another lockdown was needed based on what they were saying then it should be accepted, no questions asked. As it turns out, my 'critical thinking' and criticism of the media who reported these sensationalist headlines was actually correct. You might also discover that the 'experts' have modelled best, middle and worst case scenarios, but they are also 'guided' by the politicians in terms of the output needed. I guess no one mentions the 'best case' scenarios as they don't sell papers / entice people to click on the headlines.

Link Weren't we told to 'trust experts'?

Can someone rename this thread as it has become the "BorrierSaint posts other people's opinions from his Twitter feed" thread recently.
-
Do they even have a forum now? I thought theirs imploded as the guy running it became so paranoid that any new poster was a 'scummer' that he b-anned pretty much everyone.

Any team calling themselves 'the toffees' can't be taken seriously.
-
Man Utd - purely because of their sense of self entitlement. Liverpool - they're scousers, surely no other reason is needed.

Must be something else then.... Like it's a load of made up bullshit.

Has anyone looked into the environmental impact of covid testing yet? Yesterday there was just short of 1.5 million tests carried out (presumably the official figures only count PCR figures and not LFTs???) and who knows how many LFT tests used up and down the country. All of those tests have an incredible amount of single use plastics, none of which can be re-used or recycled, and that's just in the UK. Across the globe the amount of plastic that is being used just for testing must be atronomical. I'm guessing that all the environmental 'saves' that were recorded when almost the entire aviation network was grounded have already been wiped out by the plastics used in the testing kits.....

You told FTF's wife you'll be ready for a shag in a week's time?

And go on expensive holidays between Xmas and New Year
-
Just one question.... If this takeover is expected to be done and dusted before the end of December, does that mean that somewhere there is a group of lawyers, financiers, management teams etc etc all working away furiously in the background in the week between Xmas and New Year where traditionally the output of most workers is the square root of fuck all (those that aren't already on holiday!). Timeline sounds dubious to me....

Tonked in 2nd Ashes test ..2-0 down
Weston Super Saint replied to Chris cooper's topic in The Lounge
I'm not convinced you have 'got it'. Those sportsmen you refer to had to isolate for 10 days in an hotel when they got to Australia to significantly reduce the risk. That's a lot of inconvenience and expense. Most people taking holidays can't afford to do that (in terms of both time and money). -
To be fair, the EU right to work system is currently working pretty well...

I'm not sure you truly appreciate what my comment was in response to. Aintclever made the rather ludicrous statement that the number of available beds has never been the problem, it's always been the lack of staff, particularly in ICU, whilst providing absolutely zero evidence to back up his claim. I understand exactly why the Nightingales were built and appreciate that at that time, given the situation we were facing, it was most definitely the correct course of action to take. My response was sarcastically pointing out how incorrect his statement was. (but thanks for the mansplaining )

Good job they spent all that money on the Nightingale hospitals then if the number of beds has never been a problem....
-
Because they can't get an appointment with their GP because they've cancelled them all in order to give booster jabs?

This'll be the reason why MLG got his booster... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-59774795

I remember there being a similar stat with the first wave about the number of people that had died with covid had actually been infected whilst in hospital. Seems criminal that these are reported as 'covid' deaths.

The newest way to keep the figures and scaremongering up : https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-59768366 If you have a cold, it's probably covid! I guess the best way to get rid of cold and 'flu season is to call them all covid If I've got all the symptoms of a cold, guess what, I've got a cold.

Recognition, finally. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-59738542

Is long covid still an issue for those that have been vaccinated, after all, the vaccines are supposed to significantly reduce the risk of serious illness / hospitalisations, or does it mainly affect those who were infected pre-vaccines?
-
Cheers, interesting reading, still lacking a little context as mentioned in the footnote : Also, when it comes to 'deaths' themselves, the stats show for anyone under the age of 50 it is considerably less than 50% of patients dying with / of Covid.
