  1. Are we sure he's a skate? Every man for himself and giving nothing to charity is the Pompey way I know, but highlighting this is the duty of Saints fans isn't it? Oppppssss, that'll be a fine then. More working capital to be reduced, thus more kiddies pocket money needs to be begged for! Gusty? WTF is a gusty performance? Yeah right, we know it was the team they were booing.

  3. Have no fear, they will dabble in the 'loan' market and pay the wages / mortgage of some washed up has been that wasn't able to be sold during the transfer window because he is no good.
  4. She didn't die at the scene. TO be fair the article contains a lot of compelling evidence that will never be proven either way - unless one of the people involved came forward and admitted what they did, but then, who would believe them and how long would they last if the did? Personally I've always believed she didn't die at all and is living with Dodi on some remote island somewhere with Harry and Wills's brother/sister, but I can't prove that little conspiracy theory either
  5. From the terms and conditions : Also it states that you must be over 18 to use the service, so I guess the type of 'marketing messages' that they will send may not be suitable for children - was looking to do this for my 8 year old daughter but def not going ahead after reading that!
  6. Ever considered being a super geek and putting Linux on there instead? http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/install_linux_your_mac
  7. Why? And, why are you worried? This is good news! After years and years of financial mismanagement, Pompey have finally paid back a loan. Isn't this what we all wanted? Pompey to pay their way? Admittedly it needs the parachute payments from the Premier League to pay back a League 2 debt, but surely it shows some sore of responsibility? If there is anything that doesn't add up with this statement - and that will be a first! - it will be apparent in the financial statement when published. [/nobhead neil mode]
  8. I think the answer here is quite simple. Let them carry on with the disciplinary process. If they are taking the first meeting on Tuesday as the 'investigatory' and have decided to follow this up with a 'disciplinary' then they have not followed the required procedures for the whole disciplinary process as you were not given 24 hours notice to attend, nor were you offered the chance to have a witness present = grounds for appeal (personally I wouldn't mention this to them until after the process when you have the right to appeal as it is up to them to make sure they are aware of the process). Secondly, if they then give a disciplinary judgement stating you were AWOL, you can then appeal and argue that technically you were late rather than absent for the day! Finally, the good news is that this will not lead to a dismissal - at worst I would imagine a verbal / written warning, which while not great will ensure you keep your income! If it was me in that position I would be taking the route of 'coaching' to ensure that the rules of lateness / sickness reporting were fully understood [by you] and would be recording this as a note on your file - not a disciplinary warning, merely a warning that could then be produced at subsequent disciplinary hearings should the process not be followed again. I agree with you that they have been a little harsh in not even asking how your niece is, but looking at things from their point of view, your niece is not your dependent, so whilst it is very unfortunate that this has happened - I hope she is better by the way - they will take the stance that it is not your responsibility [harsh, but fair I guess from a legal standpoint]. I wouldn't take this personally as you seem to be doing as this will create a pretty bad working environment, however I would bide my time and wait to see what they do next then make a judgement from there as to what steps to take next - who knows, it may end up with no further action and they are just following the process for the sake of following the process!
  9. A couple of points here - my two penneth worth! 1. You haven't followed the company procedure which is to report the absence by telephone 1 hour before or after the start of your shift - this is a very common term / condition of employment. 2. You reported the absence by email. Why? Is there no-one available to take telephone messages at 04:00? If there isn't and if there is no answer facility, then I would argue that you have acted reasonably by reporting your absence via email - who did you send it to? 3. You went to work! Technically this is lateness rather than absenteeism, however I can see why they would want to call it AWOL, since you arrived after the 1 hour cutoff time for reporting absenteeism. I assume that they will be paying you for hours that you worked and that you did indeed stay and work once you arrived? If this is the case then it could be argued that they have accepted your lateness and it cannot be classed as AWOL. I would also guess that for it to be AWOL, then they would have 'covered' your shift after the 1 hour cutoff time, which again would be stated in your terms and conditions. When you phoned at 10:00 to say you would be getting ready and coming in, they should have informed you that your shift had been covered and that your presence was not required if they were treating this as AWOL! 4. How many missed calls, voicemails and emails did you receive regarding this issue? My advice would be to hang on to these and take a screenshot as evidence. It may sound petty, however if they did take this further, receiving lots of calls, voicemails and emails after you had reported your lateness could be construed as harassment. 5. The devil is in the detail! What exactly have you been invited to attend? You mention a disciplinary hearing, which would suggest a full blown disciplinary which could result in you losing your job. The process to be followed should be that you are invited to an 'investigatory meeting' in the first instance to discover all the facts and then to decide if a disciplinary is appropriate. You mention that you were pulled in to a meeting when you arrived at work. What was discussed during this meeting? Were you given the opportunity to have a witness present with you during this meeting? Were any notes taken during this meeting and if so were you given the opportunity to review these notes and sign them for accuracy? For the record if this meeting is to be classed as the 'investigatory' meeting, there should have been the meeting holder present, plus a witness / note taker accompanying him/her, plus you, plus your witness - or at least the offer of a witness - AND you should have been given no less than 24 hours notice to attend the meeting! 6. A fair bit of information is required in order to give any further advice. 7. Viking, as a registered user, Bowers is unable to PM you!
  10. I agree with you, twice However, it would appear the Government doesn't, calling it vehicle excise duty rather than road tax! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-23694438 What annoys me is these bloody Wiggo wannabes on a Friday evening at rush hour! Normally, my commute home takes me south on the M5. Sadly, during the summer the Southbound M5 around Portishead / Clevedon is gridlocked around rush hour due to the thousands of Brummies - other Northerners also available - who head South to Devon / Cornwall and plan their routes to be passing Bristol at about 17:00! This means I take the 'back route' through the 'head to pick up the motorway at Clevedon. This is the annoying time of the week where every bloody wiggo wannabe is out on their bike, riding on the country road and causing serious congestion for the CARS. Why do they have to do it at rush hour? Why not go out an hour or two earlier / later and avoid holding up all the rush hour traffic! Oh, and most Fridays the wiggo wannabes are joined by bloody horse riders in the middle of the road! Horses live in fields, so horses should be ridden in fields, simple really. I don't drive my car through the field that you keep your stupid fecking horse in, so don't ride your stupid fecking horse on the roads that my car lives on!
  11. Budgie smugglers are the answer. Wearing budgie smugglers = absolutely no chance whatsoever of sitting / damaging the nut sack. HTH.
  12. Jim appears to have conveniently forgotten that the prem money has already filtered down to the lowest tier and if it wasn't for the fact that they owed so much money to so many people it would be putting the other teams at a disadvantage! Convenient how they forget their recent history in the rush to blame everyone but themselves
  13. Lol. I thought that nobhead neil had been quiet on the subject, but it appears they are still training at Jurassic Park. I'm stunned that no-one else will give them the chance to train somewhere else, but I guess their credit terms are unacceptable.
  14. I assume you have a link to this information that you are happy to share with the group? Perhaps it is al there in black and white in biznezz plan v9.076?
  15. I agree. I find it deliciously entertaining when nobhead neil does things like that. It just shows how small time and pathetic he is - just like the twitter argument yesterday! - and goes to show why he is the perfect journalist[sic] for the small time and pathetic club.
  16. Lol. Is this another example of the communication company not being able to communicate effectively with their customers, as no-one knows what is available to whom! Ditched BT a number of years ago in favour of Sky which uses all of BT's hardware but charges at least a third less. Is it worth getting in touch with BT to point out their restrictive practices by offering this service free for Virgin? I cannot get cable as it hasn't been laid so surely this is a restriction of trade?
  17. I suspect he's been watching England matches through his 'special' Pompey watching glasses if he thinks that England have an international standing! What exactly have England done in the last 47 years apart from consistently fail to deliver anything! I do love the irony of all those skate fans advocating using the yoof!
  18. WTF? I have no idea what phil has posted, no clue at all. Phil, you don't make sense at the best of times, but that post is just inane rambling in your usual I don't know feck all way!
  19. So 10k season tickets sold. Council reduced capacity to 18k. 6k tickets left. Means only 2k - including away fans for their FA cup final - have bought tickets. Did anyone mention that selling the season tickets so cheaply would mean the numbers just don't add up?
  20. Next month? As in September? The parachute payments, ever since this saga began, have always been in February and August. Still it wouldn't be the first time the skates have promised to pay back a debt from money they know doesn't exist.
  21. Don't be so silly. ALL of the money for local schools and charities was paid back in FULL! There was a tremendous effort from local people[sic] and businesses that raised the money from their own hard earned wages[sic]. There is of course absolutely no factual evidence for this, but some random on the snooze website stated this as fact once and so the pompey myth was born.
  22. To be fair, not even the nuttiest nutjob predicted that it would only take two games before they started making the demands. I think September was the earliest prediction Credit where it's due, they have proved once again that this particular leopard will never change its spots! What happened to the 'I'm just glad we have a team to support' brigade? I'm sure Corpse was a staunch member of that team for a while...
  23. Whitless wants a squad of '20'. Do they still have a limit imposed by the FL - I thought this was finished once they finally exited admin? IF so, why all of a sudden do they want to limit the squad to 20? They've spent the last four seasons in admin moaning about the 20 player limit and how it was 'unfair', 'noncompetitive' and stifling their ability to cover injuries.
  24. Lol. I wasn't aware that nobhead neil understood irony
  25. Lol, I thought that said 'CLOCK' to make up for the missing one that they can't afford
