It is suggested that ALL Dorset pubs will have to stock a locally produced Dorset Real Ale. Now I can see where they're coming from with the idea of keeping local businesses going, but I have two issues... 1. Not all pubs are aimed at the kind of market that attracts real ale drinkers. 2. Not all landlords are able to look after real ale, which requires a lot more work and effort than fizzy euro pop beer does. If the ale does get ****ed up by a landlord that hasn't got a clue what they're doing, the customers may think it is the beer that is no good, and thus have a detrimental effect on the local brewers...

I don't think I can be arsed to wrap it.

If the government - present, future or even the less likely to get in power - were to sort out it's own inefficiencies the financial savings would probably pay for a 10p reduction in VAT.

For anyone running a pub it's bad news - as if we needed more bad news Who's going to pay for this cut in VAT, oh that's right, the duty on tobacco and alcohol is going to be increased, which WILL be passed on to the consumer, who WILL decide to spend even less of their money in the pub and even more of their money in the local supermarket. Then, just to top it all off, once the customers have all gone, NI contributions will be increased. I can't wait.

This is excellent news. We got rid of one manager and looks like we're replacing him with not just two but three other managers / coaches. At least we've still got our morals in tact by not hiring in cheaper foreign labour
