Nights like the Play Off Semi Final at Pride Park, still remember Crab Lungs and me being bundled under a surge of fans after Rasiaks last minute goal. Even though we lost that team which was pieced together after Billy Davies team had kicked the sh*t out of us in the first leg, had more fight, passion and guts than the team we have now.
-
They only have weeks to come up with something to entertain the crowd at half time and all they can come up with is punting a football at either the cross bar or a coloured zone on the pitch. I think we're all agreed that we'd rather just stare at the people forking the pitch and the sprinklers than the 2 who the club employ to apparently entertain us. They can't even time the Saints Band before the match right, it's cut off midway through every time. Here's an idea, start 5 mins earlier. Not difficult is it.
-
Even the half time entertainment is garbage. The sooner Benali and that bloke are binned off the better. Probably paying them thousands for screaming in a microphone for 15 mins. Good to see Super Ken Monkou. Shame he wasn't playing today. Miles better than any current CB we have. As for the game. Playing 70 minutes in a must win game with no striker Is ridiculous. Selles isn't the solution, he's part of the problem

Turning the whole of St Mary's into the first fan neutral stadium in the English football league. Great stuff. -
Eniola Aluko said she knows Rasmus and he's a great football mind, and I for one believe her
-
He's just another Steve Wigley, Stuart Gray, Gorman/Dodd and he always was going to be. Anyone who thought otherwise clearly knows nothing about football. All this "the players like him" doesn't make him a good manager

I actually enjoy going to the pub before and after. It's the football that gets in the way of having a good time. I know a few season ticket holders who are going to tell their Mrs that they have got season tickets, but instead put the money into a pot for a decent summer holiday next year with their mates. They then still have an excuse to go to the pub every other week, and don't need to have the disappointment of going to the football

Griff was a top bloke, many a funny night out with him and a few others on the board (Crab Lungs, Colin_T, Squibby, Gemmel, Saint Tim) in the mid 2000s. Sadly died in 2007, which I can't believe was 16 years ago now.
-
I recall he would constantly deny he wanted to be the fan on the board, but hadn't he gone on preseason with Michael Wilde as his guest. Such an odd time for the club. Why on earth people thought the answer to our problems was a fan on the board I'll never know. This then takes me to the Ted Bates Trust, and when you'd get people on here saying they'd seen the statue and how amazing it was. Almost showing off. They lost any and all credibility after that. This is why fans should not be left to organise anything of that scale.
-
Wasn't Um Pahars desperate to be the "fan on the board" when that was all the rage back when Michael Wilde took over the club?
-
I recall this rumour well l, didn't he get the most assists in Spain the season we were looking at signing him? What ever happened to the Spanish fan Javi? Seem to recall seeing him in pubs at various away days in the early / mid 2000s. I also recall him being presented with an award for fan of the year or something similar at The Dell.

This stinks of Steve Wigley all over again. Didn't we appoint an experienced coach to work with him Christian Damiano, and we were still dreadful. The club PR machine will be in overdrive over the next few days making out Selles is the greatest coach to walk the earth, when in reality we all know it's pretty nailed on to fail.

Concerning that Lampard and Gerrard were considered. Hopefully it was who is available and that was as far as the consideration went

Jesse Marsch is set to replace Nathan Jones as Southampton’s new manager. Marsch and Southampton held an initial round of talks on Monday, where the length of his potential contract was discussed. The club have considered it crucial to act fast and decisively in their search, and want a new manager installed before their next match against Chelsea on February 18. ADVERTISEMENT Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard were also considered by the club’s hierarchy, but Marsch now looks set to take over at St Mary’s, with the club currently bottom of the Premier League. A final decision is expected to be made soon. Marsch is the leading candidate, but several options are being assessed. The Athletic previously reported that Marsch was being considered for the vacancy at Southampton. The 49-year-old American was sacked by Leeds earlier this month after spending just shy of a year at Elland Road. GO DEEPER Leeds sold Marsch as a natural successor to Bielsa, but his vision never clicked The south coast side’s interest in Marsch predates Sport Republic’s arrival in January 2022. Southampton have tracked Marsch since he was at New York Red Bulls. His experience working in the Red Bull system, like former manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, appeals to Southampton as there are certain similarities in regards to pressing style and system. Marsch has remained in England since being dismissed by Leeds. Southampton have been on the lookout for a new manager since Sunday, with Nathan Jones being sacked after just 14 games in charge. Jones led the club to just one top-flight win during his brief stint in charge at St Mary’s. Matthew Le God on here would regularly say football was exactly like Football Manager and I for one believe him.
-
I can honestly see a Cantona Vs Palace incident happening on Saturday, Jones is that unhinged.
-
Did the club making those attending sign a no comment disclaimer? I'm amazed there has been no leaks on here only twitter about what was said.

Southampton(1) 1-2 (3)Newcastle - League Cup Semi Final - Second Leg

Would love it If Duje Ćaleta-Car scored the winner after serving his suspension yesterday. You can almost hear the whinging now, and would be true karma after they had the game deliberately called off last season. Its a nice dream....... -
Funnily enough my dad calls it the Funeral March as well 😂
-
I'd rather not hear Kenzie Benali and that other useless goon screeching at half time. What's wrong with getting the saints band out at half time.
-
She was. She obviously fancied herself as she had her gut on full display

I think they were all Newcastle, there was another girl with her ejected who was going for it as well. Have emailed the club but still awaiting a reply, which will just say that they ejected xx amount of Newcastle fans, it's impossible to identify them when they're not in colours and brought tickets when already in the database. It's a difficult job to police and stewards act as quickly as they can. I started this thread as 2 Man Utd fans in shirts got all the way to their seats and were even shown where to go by a steward. They were only removed when saints fans pointed them out. The club emailed me and said the 2 fans removed their coats when they sat down, which was absolute rubbish as they didn't even have coats with them!!!
-
They weren't even hiding they were Newcastle fans, talking loudly in a noticeable Geordie accent, taking an age to find their seats like they'd never stepped foot inside St Mary's before. The club literally does nothing to stop this. I am surprised nobody was seriously hurt today. Someone being kicked on the floor. Even two women who were Newcastle fans were throwing punches and kicks at our fans. But I am sure the club stopped 100s of Newcastle fans getting in, this was an isolated incident and they were quickly ejected.
-
Newcastle fans all over the stadium today. Loads in block 36 next to me. Worst fighting between fans I've seen at St Mary's after Newcastle fans celebrated scoring. I await the clubs response by saying they vet all fans who buy tickets, they must be on the data base and as a precaution will be shutting off block 36 for the foreseeable future, until our fans learn to behave.

Paul Doswell said he was faking that injury when he went of against Forest and I for one believe him
