Good first half. More direct at times, good pressing as a team. Sulemana was really good - skill and awareness. We looked solid. 2nd half not good. Back to slow passing. Less pressing. Didn’t really create anything and kept giving the ball away and putting ourselves under pressure. We do this thing where the defenders hold the ball and invite the press, plays the ball hard to a midfielder who then fires it back even harder at the defender who just passed and is still surrounded by pressing players : requiring that they have an amazing touch to get out of trouble or the ball goes loose. It’s obviously a thing they’ve been told to do - but it’s infuriating. If the midfielder just took a touch and turned we’d be so much better off. Thought aribo looked like he was running through treacle.. so immobile. pleased with three points but lots of work to do.

Gah, I’m feeling so bored and over it. I had a season ticket at the Dell, been supporting since the 80s. been home and away. Season ticket in champ and league 1 during the wotte era. Suffered burley, pellegrino, branfoot, Jones. i couldn’t even be bothered to watch or listen yesterday. Just feel done with it. Shite football - obvious tactical flaws that aren’t addressed. Weakened squad year after year with obvious gaps in quality in the squad that aren’t addressed…. I don’t resent losing. I resent being gaslit with positive comments about how we are playing better and that the fan’s negativity is to blame. The football is objectively bad when taken as a whole 90 mins. The results are even worse. That’s bad enough. Just don’t lie to me. I think I’m gonna take a break for a while. 🙈 Life is alright without this shite ruining my weekends. 😂

why oh why did we loan out onuachu to then spend the entire game slinging in crosses and corners to our players that have no aerial presence? it just makes no sense. made it way too easy for ipswich to defend.

I'm not even sure i want him sacked yet.just that interview really concerns me - just as much as the goals we've conceded (again)

i can't class as "on top" when we've barely created a chance that wasn't a long shot all game. Ryan Fraser chance the exception. also passes and meaningless possession don't mean anything when you're 3-1 down. thats just game management from leicester - be compact and make us play in front of them and hit us on the break. i think they had other chances during that period too, before they scored.

thought id post here too: maybe more appropriate ive just watched RM's after match interview. I think he's just had his own nathan jones moment. utterly delusional. *"much better performance than sunderland" *"that we were on top second half and that we just didn't take our chances" *that hes proud of the players (twice) *If we move the ball like that and play like that then we'll be more thank OK" (is this where were aiming? *that there was no real difference between the teams... absolutely no awareness at all. (very very concerning)

i think that was the *joke* / point

How’s that bookmark looking mate?

A good win. But not a good performance really. I think QPR could be rightly disappointed. Its encouraging that were picking up points despite the obvious areas where we need to improve. The first team needs investment and players to come in and improve it. Thought Fraser, Downes and Arma did really well today.

i bet he posts on here.

we need more of that on this forum. or are you back to being literal? I've gone and confused myself by overthinking

i *think* it was a metaphor... @revolution saint sees dark clouds on the horizon and stormy weather ahead. BUT its august and seems too early for this....

I genuinely feel a bit worried about you. Banging on and on and on with the same negative and pessimistic worry won’t change the situation either way. You come across as unhappy and fixated. Ultimately football is supposed to be fun and enjoyable - and at the end of the day doesn’t actually matter in the big scheme of things. Don’t let it make you unhappy .
-
Cool. thing is the advice is still sound. Your worry and catastrophising has no influence on the situation either way. let’s hope saints have a decent plan and deal with it September if they don’t.

Reported by whom? I think there’s lots of misinformation out there. For clicks. To use as stalking horses. I could write a report and put it online that says we were in for Mbappe. I could even say talks were “advanced” - doesn’t make it true. don’t get me wrong. I’m underwhelmed so far. But the reaction and histrionics on here is just way OTT and importantly, way too premature.
-
Jesus. there’s lots of things being asserted as fact here. Chill out man. how do you actually know we were in for Piroe? All the interviews with RM and Wilcox I’ve seen and they’ve played a straight bat to the rumours. Plus RM (who managed him - said he’s more like Armstrong. Doesn’t sound like a l4l replacement of che to me!) do you actually KNOW che isn’t staying? NO. You just fear it. do you KNOW we don’t have anyone better lined up. NO. chill out man. Get outside. Try not to focus on all the negative noise and anxiety in your head. You’ll be happier. if at the end of the window any of these things come to pass we can deal with it then. But like most worries and worst fears - they probably won’t
-
I think there’s lots of (understandable given SR’s chequered history of under delivering in relation to hype and promises) over reaction in this thread. I share the same pessimism and fear as the majority of you - (saints failing for the third window in getting a proper striker to replace Ings and the whole gakpo fiasco.) and I’m not overwhelmed with the signings so far. BUT we can’t really judge until the window ends. RM promised we’d be stronger at the end of the window than at the start. Let’s hold the panic until the window shuts and see whether that’s proven to be the case or not. If not, let’s hold them accountable.

Absolutely not at our club. Just not the attention or noise we need. Plus too many question marks about his character. I couldn’t in good conscience cheer him. He needs to go abroad somewhere and play where the case wasn’t so high profile - earn a living there. He might have to accept that his days of earning a top wage, at a top club, in the spotlight is over. Unless there is a public airing of the new evidence that demonstrates that the images and audio wasn’t what it appeared to be. I think he’s too “damaged goods” in the public perception to be in the spotlight in this country without loads of discourse.

Really?! Not a distraction we need at our club thanks. Too many question marks about him and his character. I’d prefer if we just steer clear.

Regardless of whether it wanted to be smashed or not. (allegedly)

Adam Armstrong so good today. Charles was good too. Thought we’re lacking bench options and a little bit of quality in the first team but good result and decent performance.
-
Aye, that’s a good response. it’s true. Guess I’m just feeling pessimistic after the last few years of fuckups and shit football. I probably should have more faith in Wilcox and the team and need to remember the last time we went down more. But I’m not gonna lie. No one at Saints have much credit in the good will bank atm.

I’m getting concerned that for all the talk of Piroe and Grimes coming in and being our saviours…. When did buying lots of players from a mid table team, with a manager that finished mid table become the blueprint for success? It didn’t really work for Liverpool when they signed 5 /6 of our players. Took another couple of seasons and a change in manager and different signings to be successful.
-
I’m disappointed he’s chosen to leave. But that his choice. So no farewell, let’s just draw a line under it and he can join the likes of fonte and lallana as “yeah whatever” when talked about in relation to saints. I won’t boo but I won’t cheer either. my main concern like others have said : his leaving leaves the first team weaker whilst not really helping with squad size. Think it might get worse before it gets better. I don’t feel confident we will be buying players of his calibre any time soon. Hopefully we can shift the 8 or so dross players before we lose anyone decent.
