So not a straight answer then just whataboutery waffle about Ralph.
-
In the interests of fairness - How long would you give him? And what would be your minimum requirements for him to keep the job? eg, 10 games 3 wins and a draw? Genuinely I’m interested.

You’re right that Forest game was the epitome of free flowing, progressive exciting football. It wasn’t 9-0 sure but it was 0 shots on target against an appalling team with an even more appalling away record that was preceded by 2 identically bad performances where the players looked tactically lost, with a manager that was obviously floundering having had the equivalent of a preseason to implement at least a semblance of a style of play and an identity. I was underwhelmed at NJs appointment - I don’t understand the thinking that got him the job as nothing in his history seems to fit with the ethos of the way the club said they wanted to play football. But nothing I’ve seen (or heard) from NJ himself has even remotely made me question this belief. Ultimately it doesn’t matter what any of us think. We can only react to the football as it happens. ”Nathan Jones: your football is shit”

He has changed it. It’s worse. Way worse. The fact that the vast majority of Fans are saying the same thing should be a clue. There’s no point even arguing. Let’s just meet back here after Everton and see how much longer you want to give him after two more losses and awful football.

What exactly is YHGTI? Sorry I keep seeing it a but not quite sure of the meaning. My guess: YOung Hungry Going to Improve?

Rumours on twitter (I know, I know) that Tino has injured ligaments in his other knee. I’d take it with a pinch of salt but just thought I’d share. bad news if true. source @mikejudges1 (no idea about ITK status)

So it’s the fans’ fault then??
-
No, he’s not the messiah he’s a very naughty boy.

I agree that he sometimes seemed to shy from asking the tough questions of Ralph - but I was of the impression that was to preserve his access within the club. interesting to hear that he doesn’t seem to have this access now - been waiting for an interview with SR about their plan for the last year: so seems like the gloves are off a bit. thought doswell’s opinions of Nathan Jones being not a premier league level manager in terms of ability and tactic was interesting. Especially as he’s within the game and so is probably much more aware than many ‘normal’ fans. It was Refreshing to hear a fellow manager be so candid. What did you think of his opinion about Jones?

interesting listen. validating to our concerns. Ive never heard adam blackmore be so openly critical.

Can we make this a sticky please mods so that everyone can see the poll and vote (if they want to)
-
See I was thinking that was actually a good presentation. but to use RA’s own words NJ is failing (amongst other things) on Mindset and might be a “good talent” but not the “right talent” for us. This should’ve been obvious to anyone with a knowledge of actually watching football.

I think it’s Nathan, his Agent, his father in law. (X2 logins) his wife, Rasmus, and both the Pompey fans

What’s the threshold for you?(Genuinely asked with no snark)

Interested in “the data” - you know, for our owners.
-
Hahaha that’s almost brilliant trolling by NJ there. The stoke and Luton fans all said that he NEVER takes any responsibility. im not surprised. SR have to sack this idiot.
-
I’m looking forward to the NJ supporting posters coming on here now to justify that performance and why we should stick with him…
-
But but but what’s our xG? The data…. the data…
-
Nathan Jones - what a wanker chant? Forest or saints fans?
-
Have we had a shot on target yet?

Where are the “we’ve got to get behind NJ and support him” “he’s a good manager” fans right now? That was objectively very poor. Who plays goofball likes that in the prem and succeeds? We are shit, toothless, lacking passion. So much of that comes down to the manager and the board. Can’t wait for the excuses at full time from NJ
-
I understand that NJ is undoubtedly SR's man and they wanted him because of "stat based reasoning". But my issue with the appointment is judging by the type of football being played (very long, very direct, little possession and 3 at the back) it just doesn't seem to fit with the "playbook" established over the last 4 years and therefore the attributes of the expensively (for us) assembled squad in the summer. I know ralph started to go more direct and moved away from 4222 but I think perhaps that was being dictated to him from above. I just haven't seen anything at the moment which seems to suggest that NJ will get us playing in a way which will work in the Prem. (or which won't just condemn us to being a poor Burnley knockoff) No love-in from me for a Dyche appointment. I wanted a progressive manager that would carry on the work done by Ralph and move us forward where we had stagnated. I don't think NJ is that guy.
-
How come you’re warming to him OldNick?
-
Sure that’s one interpretation - I think if they had invested in a striker or two that were actually decent and could finish then we wouldn’t be in this situation. but regardless. You don’t have any concerns about the new approach? About it’s ability to work with the squad we have? No concerns that the successful youth teams might be affected?
-
Exactly this really. tried to take a step back to reflect on the performance and the situation. Feel a little shocked at how much leeway NJ is getting for that performance. It was dire longball football, awful on the eye and not even effective. Especially that first half. if it is indicative of the way SR and NJ want saints to play then it’s going to be a tough watch. The passing in the first half particularly was woeful. Hit and hope. The tactics don’t seem to suit our current squad. But it also rips up all of the work done in getting the same playing system through the age groups and youth setup. Which is currently being successful… It’s up to them if they want to change I guess, but I think they will struggle to get these tactics working with youngsters in the first team. Which questions about how the NJ approach fits with the supposed philosophy of training technical youngsters and selling them for a profit. Will we even attract them in the first place? All feels so muddled. Very worrying. and if you go this route why not get a manager with more clout and experience ? im at a loss really - feel pretty despondent
