Straight at Lumley. Foul, but just a reminder of the single goal lead. Hopefully, it will drive us a bit.

Mara did have Alcaraz in a better poisiton. But after his miss, I've no issue with him taking on the effort. SAA nearly got a cut-back. Only the one effort on target still, I think though.
-
Oh. Mara with a golden chance. SAA could have squared it to Smallbone, but did eventually get it to Fraser. Alcaraz seemed to have picked up a little knock. He wasn;t wanting the ball there.
-
Normally a yellow there. I guess the ref thought Mara had hit iit too far ahead of himself anyway. We're doing Bazball with Lumley. A little bit rustier, but we're stickign to our principles. Just as we're sticking to a 1 goal lead with tons of possession. 🙂

I htought that, considering his positions, Smallbone would have at least tried to turn and shoot. Their defence was ina little muddle. Could see what he was trying, with the net ball being across behind him. But he had an opportunity himself. Elsewhere, good defensive header from Holgate. Strength, and awareness to get it up and forward. Both Stephens and THB happy to get forward with the passes, while Charles sits to mop up anything that comes back.

Alcaraz did well in making some space for himself. FInish nto so good. Loads of passing and it probably needed Stephens being the one to start to get it more direct. THB followed shortly after.
-
Alcaraz one footed. We had 3 in the box and he had time to get the ball in, rather than stop, think and cut back.

Nice again from Meghoma. Cross into Mara. Need to get a few more of these on target.
-
Meghoma starting well. Nice link up with him and Fraser there.
-
Lumley channelling his inner Baz there.

Deep, direct pass for the assist.

My dancing is coming along nicely, I think. Nice to be in a place where people just accept you, and you can relax into it. Mentions of awesome things like cats and wheelchair basketball, as well as the usual CoT quality, is making this a top thread.

They are known to pull people's arms out of their sockets, if they get upset. Wait, that's Wookies. Carry on...

Pretty fair assessment of his time with us. A capable player brought into a crashing club to play a tactic that never materialised, with any chance of it departing along with Jones. I do hope he gets on fine wherever he ends up, we get as much back on the fee as we can, and we all move on to better things.

The return of The Nile Ranger! Who was that masked man... committing an offence?

Norwich are going to be a lot happier with that point than we are. One of their two attempts on target went in. They did enough to frustrate us, and had an offside decision. Becuase of the way we set up, their fans could get some excitement as they pushed it onto our full back gaps or tried some counters. On our side, we played 3 at the back, with some mobility in there with Stephens. That really supports KWP. KWP had a load of touches, covered a lot of ground, and got an assist too. Easily our most skilful player. But he, along with everyone else, didn;t make enough use of the possession we had. We did had 755 possession. We dominated the space. But although we created 21 shots form that, we simply weren;t putting their defence under pmassive amounts of pressure with them. Gunn was not the harried keeper he should have been with that level of possession. We looked a little tired (after a lot of games), a bit disjointed in our passing game. Manning's position along with KWP's role and Stpehens in there too, might have trhown us off a bit. But mainly, we looked pretty poor in creating clear cut opportunities. Norwich sitting deep early on frustrated us. But we lacked the cutting edge to take advantage when they stepped up. Martin will look at only 4 efforts on target. Behind that there was the lack of those nearly moments where it's not on target, but could have really worried a defence. Stephens had a good effort off the bar. Far too many deliveries without enough purpose. Far too many wasted passes, and Admas twice having Fraser in better positions and having shots from range didn't help. Our massive unbeaten run continues. we're now in touching distance of Ipswich. But there will be a sense of disapointment from today, which is a good thing that they are all hungry to do better. Lots more to come, and some extra days rest will only help. It's been a very productive festive period, and the focus has to be on claiming that second spot.
