  1. The only way is sideways.
  2. If we play to contain teams, to try and haphazardly catch them out with an attack through the middle, then we're not going to get too far in any season. As you say, if we get it right, there's no reason we can't. But that's going to mean an overhaul of our tactics. If the coaching staff can't drive the change, then they will have to be on their way too. Likewise, players who can't recover any kind of flair or drive can also join those that we will lose naturally anyway, as part of the drop down.
  3. I'm reserving judgement until I've seen him receive some passes from anyone else in the team. Brought in to be on the end of Nathan's tactic, and a lot less suited to the previous RalphBall or Selles tactics. I've seen him take up good wider positions, and a steady trot back when it doesn't reach him. I've seen him take up solid central postions, and he shows consistency with that trot back when it doesn't reach him. I'm sure I've seen him pass the ball, and then move into some space. That trot back when it doesn't reach him is a little different, as he has to slow down and turn back as well. Selles likes to contain and launch a direct counter with Alcaraz. That's a couple of times I've seen that not suit Onuachu much. Not sure if he has the mobility to play deep and get on the end of any quick attack. Having him up there by himself is currently wasted as we're not able to get the ball forward quickly enough, choosing slow sideways passing that gives oponents plenty of time to get back.
  4. Knowing you had a target man, and developing a way of taking advantage of his strengths would be a bit like having some sort of attacking plan. Alien to our squad, so they remove it from their thoughts on the pitch. 🙂
  5. Yet another narrow defeat. We can't create. Whether it's when we are dominating possession, trying to use width, with a counterattacking through ball or pretty much anything. We've not got the talent, understanding or plan in place to do it. We concede a soft goal, again. As above, we can't get ourselves back into the game. Our brighter attacking options go off. The replacements offer nothing more agaisnt a team that know they can just sit back, and fend us off with a minimal amount of effort. They get a second chance at the death, when we're all pushing up for a last effort. They score easily. Another massive game where we've not grabbed a chance to dig ourselves out of the relegation mire.
  6. >sigh< well, they made that look easy.
  7. Jannie B showing those leadership qaulities. Protecting Baz, shouting, pointing a lot.
  8. There's just no plan of attack. Alcaraz and KWP going off robbed us of the two most likely outlets. We're left with players who won't or can't drive the game, and lack the skill to get it into dangerous positions.
  9. Big Paul stands in the middle wondering what he has to do to receive a pass.
  10. Admas gets the ball centrally. He looks for that central, direct pass. But we've got Big Paul on now, so Big Paul isn;t zippy enough and is too deep for that. So he passes it out. There's another pass on wide. But we dither, so when it gets out there, there's no space to run into. The ball does come across. But fails to beat the first man. Another game with an endless succession of little errors.
  11. Ta. I'll take another look later.
  12. Football careers are short. Nice that he's got a side line already. 🙂
  13. really? I'm not seeing a red card in that at all.
  14. Gah! pointless sideways passing. Plan A: We have a player the height of a skyscraper. Get the ball into him early, from deep., wide positions. Bree, or a from a bit further forward Perraud. Plan B: Mainly see plan A. But he also offers physical presence and decent skill to bring in others. So far, we've given him nothing like a chance.
  15. oh, did diddums goalie get challenged. Bless.
  16. Commentator finally twigs that the reason Brentford have not had a second half of expansive, attacking football is that they might not want to be risking the lead.
  17. Onuachu on to get on the end of all the Bree passes into the box!

  19. Adams a little fortunate to get that one. But it's JWP range.
