What about looking at League 1 players. We don't need too much individual brilliance as our squad should be good enough to create the chances. We just need someone who doesnt miss the target too often. Charlie Kelman has proved he can do that this season, playing in a not brilliant Orient side, and still getting 21 goals to push them into the play offs...

Both doing nothing with Chelsea this season, so why can't Saints get them on loan? Presume we'd need Chelsea to pay most of their wages tho. They'd be first choice picks for us, would fit in to RM's tippy tappy game plan but have the nous to score/create some goals... That seems to be our problem so far, and one we need to sort out as I can't see us stopping conceding with our style and current defensive personnel.

We need at a 20 goal a season player who, after all our nice passing, will put it in the net. Get Jonson Clarke-Harris. He is a late bloomer (and would prob like a realistic chance of premiership footy before he retires), but has been knocking in lots of goals for a few years now. He looks like he might enjoy adding some bite to our game too. This, for some of the younger players, will be a useful example in the Championship.

My kids now refer to them as "AJ and Kai whose dad played midfield for Southampton". One of my prouder achievements of 2021.
