If it was not so pathetically school boy wannabe gangsta shiedt, there would be a strong case for incitement to violence with that... 'cut you with a stanley knife'...jeez, and I thought such arseholes only existed in crap hooli films... again I am amazed that the rest of pompey agreed to lend the few braincells to these ****s so they could string such obcenities together in a single sentance together. I think we should nominate it for an Ivor Novello, or mabe the Mecury music prize. Such talent needs to be shared I think.

...and there was me thinking they had sunk as low as possible in my estimatation - but that just shows how wrong I can be. Sad ...sad... sad...

Fair points - the CB issue is probably the one that causes the biggest worry - I guess they must know this, but suspect NC is more in the Kevin K camp - 'defenderd? we no need no fricken defenders - we attack, pass, attack - they score 9 we score 10 capice?'

MOst are Alps... not sure where its at. confusion reigns ... guess its a classic case of saints agree fee with Bologna..... bologna then say, great but you also need to agree fee with (3rd party ) who owb 30% - which we have to do as Prem league rules mean no 3rd patrty ownership allowed.... saints go, well pay them out of what we just agreed.... bolgna, no thats for us, will be another 30% to do that... oh and we want it up fromt as we need it for replacements.... sorry say saints 3 installments ... and thats not including the agent - suspect a long way to go yet if this is going through.

Surely not possible now - unless you want to end up dribbling, wrapped in a straight jacket and probbaly doubly incontinent to...

Maybe, or the alternative spin is that he is avoiding the classic, 'no comment' which confirms its true. I know some get very worried when managers seem not to know the transfers goings on, but doubt NA would have any issue if we signed quality in that way -= all depends on the players quality IMHO.

Its living in Scotland mate - means I am tight and want best value from the fiver - as many words as poss per pound

nah... I irritate many, just as they irritate me... which is surely part of the reason we keep coming back - a sort of masochistic therapy. Only realy two types of things that really get me wound up - the bigotry of the like sof 'Dune' and the miserable ****ishness of the likes of Fry - and his 'what have the Roman's ever done for us' mentality. A discussion about the transfer of a player and the complexities of the deal/issues with third parties, decending into another critique of NC's 'dictatorship' and how he handles it all wrong... genius. From where I am sitting, we play the Prem champions tomorrow, 3 years after he arrived - I'll take all the parking costs, 'ticket tax', ****ing off the media, ticket price increases and wanting to do business privately if that comes with that success + we have seen and the aspiration that has been shown - (unrealistic) dreams of success are what football is all about afterall.

I thought about putting him on ignore, but he is just so ammusingly irritating or plain fricken wierd that it provides no end of fun. Although slightly disturbing that there are actually people out there that 'think' and behave as he does... comedy gold on every post

Comparing me to an old Tory ***t - now that is at least a worthy insult... shocking... funny, you mention 'debate', did not see any of that, just your usual whinging drivel
-
Its the Swiss way of business - you TRY and keep it confidential, and its IMHO the way it should be - no disspointment when it does not work out, no chance of teh deal being scuppered by other new parties who smell an opportunity... Not sure why this is such a big deal for some - or that there is concern about being more secretive in these operations - too much bull**** and egocentric arseholes mouthing off in the media in football for years, to makes a bit of chanmge that we at least try and play things a little closer to home. And Fry, Just what is your fricken problem with NC? NO he is not above criticism, and yes he will get things wrong, but so will anyone. Just dont get the constant need to gripe about every little thing, when if looking at the bigger picture we cant complain - you come across like a fecking blue rince mary whitehousesque curtain twitcher who complains about a 2 second glimpse of a nipple before 9pm as 'filth' and 'depravity'.... jeez

Question for th legal ods out there: OK so administration is designed to get the best deal for all creditors - now once the administrator has had a look at the books, he has several choices - try and keep the buisness running as a going concern (restructuring, making huge savings through redundancies etc, and agreeing a CVA with creditors that will allow the business to continue and thus potentially offer creditors more at a later date if the business is turned around... or he can sell the business to someone willing to agree a CVA with creditors ...or if he sees no new owner or no way of stopping the losses (afterall are not administrators liable for debts accumulated during their tenure) he is forced to liquidate and distribute the cash from selling any asset value to creditors after his fees have been taken off. Now, we know football is an odd case here in that the PPs represented a major cash injection - however, during the time it takes for the parachutes to arrive, pompey would have been getting into bigger net debt with their previous player contracts than would be covered by the PPs... and as the nono-footballing and non-secured creditors will in no way benefit from the PPs, the only way for all secured creditors to get the best deal is to keep the sad excuse for a club going until that money comes in and footballing and secured creditors get their hands on it... the non-secured can feck off... am I right so far? So what we have is a situation that is being manipulated - deferred payments to footballing creditors meant that the rate of accumulated debt (high wages) would no longer in theory be greater than the total remaining PPs - thus from a legal perspective, the administrator is covered? So if the debt was all to non-secured, and did not include football debt - the creditors would now be better off demanding liquidation NOW to get something back, as waiting for the next PPs would be pointless as likely to be spent on keeping the thing going? So chinney who was hoping the players would all leave and say goodbye to what they are owed so he could use the PPs for his own debt resolution - pulls out because TB says that cash is in effect all gone as its to cover the deffered wages/compromise - the Trust say they can only take over if those compromises are renegotiated to abaout 25p in the £.... ...hang in there... I know its complicated.... feck I am struggling here and need help So, as I understand the current situation, they have signed 10 players on a non contract basis to help them limp into the season - this means that some of teh exosting cash will be used to pay these players a months salary and by in effect getting into the season, the hope is they will get ennough revenue to keep them afloat until the next PP is due, which then meand they can pay their footballing debt agreed in the compromise deals... but what is the point of then liquidating as the only reason to pay teh footballing debt is to keep the golden share - so why not liquidate now? As I see it, there is no advantage to anyone/creditors other than the footballing creditors in keeping the thing going until next August when the final PP is made... but we have Appy wanting to spend 4.5 mil and being unhappy that he does not have that sort of budget - surely the administrator should should be puckering up tighter than a camels a rse in the proverbial sandstorm so that the maximum cash is available to pay all creditors NOW? As no CVA has been agreed yet, as that 2p in pound offer from Chinney is in effect now withdrawn... Just do not get how an Administrator sees keeping them alive as the best way to get the best deal for all creditors, not just servicing the footballing debt.... Feels like have missed something... Guess if teh intention is to liquidate AFTER the last PP , you could argue that as footballers lose any secured status on liquidation, the non secured woudl get more hanging in there and demanding liquidation next August?

In a nutshell, the bane of all internet warriors

Is on BBC iplayer for next 6 days
-
This - 7 years in the prem + the 150mil of borrowed (not paid back cash) means pompey spunked approximately £600mil on the last 8 years!! - even 10% of that say 60mil on a new 20k seater would have made a huge difference to their saleability. The sad thing is there still appear to be many of their fans you beive 600mil including 150mil of other peoples money was worth it for an FA cup win, and having Thierry Henry saying they were great fans because their cheered him after he spanked them.... lets say that agin £600mil and at the end of it they are where they are now...
-
Sums it up really - Only time managers complain about board room signings is when they are chheap shiedt - if quality deals are done the only really insecure old school managers would be complaining - its the way its done on the continent all the time.

Had a watch after your recommendation - really good. Quite moving as well and the sort of thing teh BBC does really well. Still on IPayer for next 6 days

Is It The Southampton Way or the highway For Nigel Adkins?
Frank's cousin replied to BILLY's topic in The Saints
You say it embarrassing Turkish, but I think many have misinterpreted what is meant by 'Saints being a Barcelona' - Lets put this into some sort of perspective. NC is not saying we will be as BIG as Barcelona or Man City, that would indeed be laughable as we simply do not have the national, let alone global brand that is required for that and will never do so. I belive the implication of those grand statements is to follow the philosophy of thsoe clubs that have achieved their success on teh back of quality youth development and a continuum between each level of the academy - now even with tier one status we will be competing with bigger more attractive clubs for quality kids, but our 'history' not necessarily in numbers but in 'hype' and profile of recent academy graduates, will help on that front. The only reason for doing it that way is precisly beacsue we dont have the money to buy the finished article.... but the model has worked at clubs liek Barca and perhaps even more at Ajax. Clubs in other leagues have seen success through it - Beyer Leverkusen, is the one that springs most to mind with a CL final on a 20K gate (before the stadium upgrade for WC2006) - having a crop come through that was able to challenge domestically and in Europe - yes, many got sold afterwards as the players looked to cash in on tehir new profiles and status, but its such cyclic success that smaller clubs can have if the set up is right that NC is talking about. My concern is not with the principle or worrying about being laughed at by those too daft to see what NC is really about, but whether the success seen by these smaller continental clubs based on the youth model can actually be sustained in the EPL - because culturally our players seem more driven by agents and possibly greed to leave at a 15/16 if a big club comes calling rather than 21-23 (at the end of their first pro contracts) that we see more of in Germany etc. That for me is the biggest issue - how do you create an environment/culture that keeps the talent at the club to a point when we have at least gotten sometthing out of them and not just cash. If NC is serious about the model, he msut surely realise it does not happen overnight - He must also recognise that continuity is key to such a strategy - yes he may react emotionally from time to time, comes with passion and determination, but the key is resolution to any toys out pram moments and so far NA is still here despite the gossip - I think if NC gets rid of Adkins due to a poor start or even relegation, it will be a mistake, but I am not sure how much of my opinion is swayed by my like for Adkins and bias as I believe he CAN become a top top manager - the challenge is whether he can get there within NCs timeframe.... and liek all these things, how we react will be almost entirley based on who was brought in and what record they had... big name experienced EU manager, who attracted players and got us off to a fyer and the fickle nature of fans is such that 'Nige, thanks for all you have done..goodbye' - if he did a Lowe and replaced with the groundsman's sister's boyfriend form Div 3 and we know the reaction. -

How about a nice 4-2-3-1 like the Germans? Just to confuse things even further;) -
Is It The Southampton Way or the highway For Nigel Adkins?

I think we need to take a reality check to, but not in a negative way - Its been made clear that the way the club wants to build is through a youth conveyorbelt - like most clubs that take such a route, it doen not mean you get year on year success - but have cyclic success as and when a crp come through of high enough calibre to make an impact - Akjax probably teh best example, have a couple of good seaosn and tehn the best are bought and they have a mini slump again. Now for us we are proabbly still 4-5 years away from being in a position where in theory, we might be able to do something with the kids - we have some good uns now, but very green and we are entering a league where many clubs culture is that of 'we must stay up whatever cost' and that fear drives style, tactics and transfers. We have stated we dont want to do that - either because we are naive about what we are upgainst ( which is the veiw of some in the media, and also some of our fans), or because we are on a plan and if there are blips and we dont survive, then we try again until we succeed. Personnally, I am in teh second bucket - we do it our way and see what happens knowing full well at times its not going to be pretty. I suspect for Nige the fact we gained back to back promotions, so quickly and are 2 years ahead of the 5 year plan probably, adds huge pressure - if we had had 2 extra seasons bedding in some younger players, we might be a bit closer to playing our way well when up against top quality. Will he still be here if we are bottom at Christmas? Guess we cant have it both ways - if we admire the investment, drive and aspiration /ambition of NC, do we take it all, except when sentiment is not enough to give Nige a chance to learn and devlop as well? Interesting conundrum. Personnaly i hope NIge gets a couple of seaons from now and then we see where we are - I think he has demonstrated he has the potential to be excellent and deserves a chnace o see what he can do when teh likes of Shaw, Ward prouse etc start to make the grade consistently. The only other issue, is whether he is considered a big enough draw to attract some of the targets we are after, to convince that we are serious about the ambition...which when we keep buying younger players, suggests we might not be as the investment is longer term... and most want big wages and success today, not tomorrow. Pr-season is the opportinity to try new things and bed in new players - have we got the combination right yet? NO, and yes we will need to get it right soon, but I odnt think we have seen the best of this side yet by a long way and that is why I am still pretty optimistic that we will surprise a few peopleonce teh serious games get going. COYRs -
...difference is clubs that have the confidence and bottle to give them a chance rather than sticking with 'Delaps' et al - fear is what seems to drive most of ther lower half's selection and transfer policy and it manifests itself in their style of play - sure it works, but it hardly means fans are entertained. If football for you is all tribalism, smart 'gear' and attitude and results and status amongst other fans means the most, then fine, enjoy survival and PL status. I prefer to see it as a sport in which we strive to play attrcative, entertaining football and if the compromise is we lose, so be it - aspiration is a good thing in my book, but patience is necessary and most owners, fans dont afford their clubs that luxury.... I hope we do.

Blackpool report Saints over Phillips approach
Frank's cousin replied to SuperMikey's topic in The Saints
Had to LOL whan I read that .. OLLY in pimping his players for sale - 'I work hard with my polayers to make them sellable assests' - just what any fan wants to hear! guy's lost the fricken plot. As far as I am awre and Olly as well, contacting an agent about players is not quite teh same as directly secretly meeting with players - afterall how many clubs talk to agents to see who is 'avaiable'? either Olly is fecking naive or just being a tosser ... or frankly both. -
Yes I am rong when talking about spending - but taht is not what I am talking about a you well know - its about long term investment in promising youth and building something rather than buying older pos that may give you that mid table security if that is what a side is happy with - unless you spend 150mil you will not get into the top six... unless you spot talent, develop your own and build a side of 'you win nothing with kids' kids... Turks you are not that dim not to know exactly the point I was making, but if it makes you feel good to point out whatt is 'wrong' with everyone elses post, feel free, but FFS it must be miserable being you if thats what you need to give yourself an ego boost

aye and being dull

Uhm... guess it depends on how we want the club progress. We could afterall do what Stoke and Bolton did, buy older experienced pros and be happy with survival with never any real ambition beyond being part of the prem, or we could look at younger players less experience and try and buld something for the long term - but yes get hammered a few times and hope we have enough to stay up. Guess its all about what sort of philosophy we as fans have about the game, success at any cost or be entertained , ook to develop players and a playing style we enjoy... even if it takes longer and the consequences are possible yo yo ing for a few seasons... 3-1 citeh but a good game and an some signs of prog ress and I will be happy...ish
