  1. Gazza in goal therefore we have lost. Only chance we have is if they don't have a shot on target. One of the things I am most looking forward to about the close season is replacing the worst keeper in the league as our no.2. Serious question, would Morgan in goal actually be worse? I don't think so.
  2. Because it's a multi-format game...don't let facts get in your way Pap.
  3. Hi all, I'm moving out to Hong Kong tomorrow for 6 months with work. I would be keen to meet to watch games/talk Saints over a few beers.
  4. Ridiculously patronising article. I On the same note for one hope that our club is never managed or run in the same way as theirs. Their fans are some of the most arrogant/genuinely spiteful in the Prem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. This thread is a shining example of why Alpine still posts on here. He posts some absolute rubbish and then gets two pages of posts calling him a troll. If people didn't react he'd just stop posting. As for his original post it is, as others have said, quite frankly ridiculous. We aren't fighting for our lives, we are on course for our best ever finish and have a team that is playing some of the most exciting stuff I've ever seen when watching Saints. Add to that the number of youngsters we have coming through and I think you have to say that this season could prove one of our most significant. Oh and Alps, yes there are two sides to every argument, but don't be surprised that people disagree with you when things you say are inaccurate. Nobody could cogently argue that sitting with 39 points in the top half of the table is 'fighting to keep our head above water in the PL'. Nobody knows what will happen in the future, but your post is written in the present and we are not fighting for survival at the moment. I don't know what will happen next season but neither do you and I personally feel more positive than negative.
  6. So we sacrificed the cup for that shambles? Thanks MP. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Exactly - clear penalty which happened 6 yards from him. Our 'best referee' doesn't give it yet we've got to put it down to 'human error', more like human incompetence. Standard of reffing this year has been as bad as I can remember.

  10. It would have been madness to sell him. The guy is a club legend and deserves to finish his career here. I truly hope that he does. He was back to his brilliant best against Fulham and I'm so pleased for him. That's the thing about SRL, just as everyone starts to write him off he comes back with a bang. Pure class. 11. Quite.
  12. Hilarious that it has been suggested that player value does not impact on the value of the club. That is completely incorrect.
  13. Nobody is saying that but you can't deny that he hasn't had relatively frequent knocks, has looked uninterested of late and doesn't score many goals from open play at all...
  14. Very disappointed. People say we aren't any weaker, but we are. Osvaldo may well be a nutter but he is a class above an 18 year old with 60 minutes of premier league experience. I know we will probably finish around 9th/10th and will probably get knocked out of the cup spectacularly by Sunderland but this is a season where I had hoped we would push on/show some ambition. To me, loaning out our record signing and relying on an 18 year old with no prem goals to his name and only 60 minutes of football in the league does not seem a statement of intent. We should and probably could have signed a stop gap on loan to cover rickie and the fact we haven't tells me we've given up on the season and are happy to attempt to consolidate. If Rickie were out for the rest of the season from tomorrow we'd have either SG or Guly as our main striker for the rest of the season....JRod cannot play through the middle only from the left. I hope SG comes good and I eat my words but that 60 minutes against arsenal doesn't mean I'd potentially entrust half a season to the lad, that wouldn't be fair to him or us in terms of his development. I wonder whether this is what MP actually wanted or what KL told him he had to work with. I hope the former or it'll be an awfully long summer.
  15. Had we had a quality striker?
  16. We had a thread about this literally yesterday....
  17. That's the thing though. Surely there was someone we could have brought in (even on loan) who would score more regularly than an 18 year old with an hour's Premier League experience. Relying on SG is a big gamble.
  18. Well said. SG played well in the first half but I barely noticed him in the second and he came off very early. And as regards that chance, yes better strikers have missed but a team with aspirations of progressing in the PL needs to have a striker that converts those...
  19. Everyone saying JRod can play up front on his own can't have watched him for a while. He is awful there. Love him playing from the left but not up front as the lone striker.
  20. I've just googled him - he doesn't appear to exist...
  21. I agree with this.
  22. Does seem like January is a cost saving exercise. A bit worried that our squad looks so thin now and I'm not as convinced as others seem to be that players like Gallagher are ready. Appreciate we won't go down but a shame to give up on what could have been a truly excellent season.
  23. Everyone saying we'll be ok but if we had another Sunderland and (god forbid) Adam and Luke got injured long term we would be really struggling.
  24. I will be sorely disappointed if we don't sign anyone and Osvaldo goes. Even with Fox going our squad now looks very very thin.
