  1. Well, in 2012 the turnover of the Liebherr group was 9bn Euros and the value of its current investments is 853.8 million. So there is some publicly available information out there. I'm sure that someone could analyse the annual accounts of the group and therefore have a reasonable guess as to Markus' personal fortune (but of course, he didn't necessarily derive it all from his business interests). The Mali group is only a small part of the entire Liebherr group which looks to be doing pretty well from figures which are publicly available. The divesting of a small part of a very large corporate group and the resignation of 1 employee out of 38,000 does not tell you anything about the financial state of a group of companies. Cortese was in charge of part of the Liebherr group, in no way was he in charge of 'virtually everything'.
  2. Yes, but most people don't form an opinion without any evidence on which to base it. I am interested to hear your reasoning (if any).
  3. This is exactly the problem. A lot on here are just recycling phrases they've read when reading about the Pompey and Leeds meltdowns without any real understanding of what they actually mean in reality.
  4. Do you have any evidence for your belief that Markus didn't have the cash? Or is that just another opinion?
  5. I thought the that the club was benefiting from a trust fund rather than KL's personal wealth. Where has it ever been stated that KL uses her personal wealth to fund SFC. She could be owner as administrator of the trust which was set up on Markus' death. That was my understanding anyway.
  6. When exactly have you ever heard of any club say that? Manchester United frequently stated that Cristiano Ronaldo would not be sold but they sold him when an offer they couldn't refuse came along, same with Spurs and Gareth Bale. Even if KL had used the words that you quote then it wouldn't be an absolute guarantee of everyone staying..no club can give that assurance to its fans, we are no different.
  7. Why should she have to do that? She has owned the club for a while and from her perspective all that has happened is that one of her employees has resigned and she is now seeking a replacement. She has told us of the resignation and the search for a successor. All this about her wanting to sell is pure speculation. Unless of course, you expect her to update us on her plans on a weekly basis? If you were expecting nothing then a statement that there are no plans to sell any players this window must have come as a nice surprise. Wouldn't you agree?
  8. Well what exactly did you expect her to say?
  9. The statement is as much as we could possibly hope for yet the usual suspects on here disregard it and argue semantics. Typical. Enjoy believing we are in meltdown lads.
  10. This thread was never going to go well when the OP referred to Dailan Wanda as Cortese's good friend and then immediately claimed to know that DW was in fact a company. I can't think of many companies that I'm 'friends' with.... Also, he's clearly just googled "Southampton F.C" and "Sunseeker" - pasted the links and then tried to fit it all into a fabricated story....
  11. i agree, with everything that's gone on I'm looking forward to a reaction. 3-1 Saints.
  12. He means that the same set of players will be playing against Sunderland as against WBA...not that it will be anyone's last game!
  13. Thank god for that. MP you hero. Seemed bullish on suggestions players would leave as well.
  14. I never said he definitely was staying...
  15. He may make a statement in the PC.... I hope he does so we can express our gratitude on Saturday.
  16. I don't think either will go in this window. But, as much as I love RL £7m for a player of his age and with his goals record this season is a fantastic return.
  17. Probably on Twitter or passed on by someone in the know. It clearly isn't the latest from any credible source.
  18. Well said. This thread is 14 pages long and a number of "experts" have assured us that MP is going, all players are going and the club is to be asset stripped. Fact is, nobody knows anything and I could boil down the amount of "fact" in this thread to around 3 lines of text...
  19. Pure speculation.
  20. MP fast on his way to becoming a legend. Can't see many senior players leaving whilst MP is committed. We may still lose a couple but we may have sold shaw and even lambert had NC stayed...
  21. If true, this is absolutely stellar news.
  22. No it wasn't due to Strachan leaving, it was due to poor managerial decisions made subsequently, unlucky results in our relegation season and injuries to key players. I'm confident the repercussions won't repeat themselves. Seriously, the CHAIRMAN has left the football club - this is being blown massively out of proportion. Yes he was important to us, but the whole idea that the club has suddenly/is about to implode is just utter nonsense that the usual trolls on here are absolutely lapping up/revelling in.
  23. I don't understand why everyone suggests that the club are going to flog all the players for peanuts. Clearly those who are suggesting this have next to no business acumen. Does everyone not realise that it is KL's best interest to get the best possible price?
  24. I think MP will stay. There isn't another job for him to walk into at the moment and a lot has changed since last summer when he had only been here 5 minutes. Maybe NC's last act was to convince him to stay. If he were to go though, then I'd at least expect him (and any unsettled players for that matter) to wait until a new CEO is appointed. Who says we can't get someone equally ambitious? Its a real shame NC is gone and much more of a shame that he's gone in a window but he's hardly the only competent CEO out there...
