  1. Tech mid class for me also. Perhaps it is not so small a group.
  2. If the Scots want to go their own way. I have no problem as long as the economic elements are discussed. It makes me wonder why there was so much fight about Ireland though... Oh, religion.
  3. I have to say fair play to Guy. He has made Pompey a competitive team without the help of Michael Appleton's requirement for cash to pay players. It makes Trevor Birch look very silly and one wonders what the CVA victims think about that.
  4. Labour have some good guys waiting such as Andy Burnham or Jim Murphy.
  5. If you're Appy and you know it clap your hands. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21843906
  6. Not a Saint to be seen! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21782595 Same old, same old.
  7. Arrested for assault again!! It seems Newcastle let him go a couple of weeks ago. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-21785150
  8. Let's hope Chinny has a few devious tricks to play still.
  9. Caught driving while disqualified. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-21716343 I like the Manchester City declined to comment line. They'll be fuming!! Possible prison sentence. http://www.drivingban.co.uk/drivingban/drivingonabanwhilstdisqualified.htm
  10. Web chat alert! Porky Penny is taking questions from noon on the News. http://m.portsmouth.co.uk/news/local/join-our-live-webchat-with-penny-mordaunt-mp-1-4877201
  11. I'm amazed I don't feature as it takes up a fair amount of my spare thinking and online time. Anyone on that list must be a true professional at this game. I bow to such dedication.
  12. Totally happy with this. It's not a block to other goalkeepers at all. Good know all and back up for the younger keepers we might have. It's known he wants his kids to stay in their schools locally so he's probably not costing that much to be a guiding light or helping hand.
  13. Wrecking the environment eh? Perhaps we need a human cull also.
  14. Same company as Car craft also.
  15. Hmmm.. With the exception of the above post I'm quite pleased with the advice offered by fellow posters. Plenty to contemplate. Thanks
  16. It's not an impossibility to stay up. They just need to be 10 points and goal difference above the relegation zone by the end of the season as precedents stand. So that probably means they need to end up on 50 points as L1 history shows. They have 24 points and there are 11 games left so if they won them all they would have 57 points. Then they would still get hit with minus 10 but this season thus avoiding a minus 10 next season. Tactics for Guy Whittingham to consider as he plays the unattached player transfer market with his budget.
  17. I have tried without success to get into red wine but it seems to suck all the moisture from my mouth. By contrast I enjoy white wine, the drier the better. Sauvignon Blanc from NZ or Chile suits me fine at about £6 a bottle at a supermarket. I also like Muscadet from the Loire area. I find sweet white wines repugnant though. Any views on what I am doing wrong with red wine and what do other posters recommend for either red or white wine?
  18. Nothing. It's just a bit simplistic. We all benefit from trade and employment and that's no longer just a national issue. I have no issue with a referendum however as I am sure that the silent majority would vote to stay within the EU, even if a few of the terms were altered.
  19. That didn't work too well then. Why complain about leaflets that inform you about what's going on? One might think people want to feel disenfranchised so they can then moan about it to their friends! I can understand some people not wanting leaflets through the letterbox from the local estate agents and takeaways of course.
  20. I understand the sentiment but you couldn't have £1 notes or coins without smaller value coins unless the minimum price for anything was £1.
  21. Early polls showing an LD win but Tories and UKIP scrapping for second. Personally I think it's sad that a formerly proud working town like Eastleigh has abandoned the main parties for a rabble like UKIP who just represent dissention and have no realistic or coherent policies.
  22. Go with this also. No chavs either.
  23. Nope, you're right. The other salient point is that the PPs are there to allow football clubs to pay players they can no longer afford after relegation, not to prop up other aspects of the business. Pompey have not paid their former players as the PPs intend. That needs to be addressed by the football authorities in general IMO. Obviously the football creditors rule is meant to do that but it has been very badly explained to the public in general.
  24. There's another advantage with plastic as I get lumbered with far less 1p and 2p coins in change. I always chuck those in a box when I empty my change and being lazy eventually convert them in a coinstar machine and lose 7% in the process. But that happens far less than even three years ago to me because so many more places accept plastic now. I have also noticed that if you use cash at the self pay machines in supermarkets they never dispense either 2p coins or 50p coins in the change. So you get a load of additional 1p, 10p and 20p coins unnecessarily. Although a few months ago I used a £2 coin in a self pay machine for some small item of about 50p and it completed the sale, gave me a receipt and refused to drop the change. I let the machine supervisor know about it and then had to hang around for about 5 minutes while she went off to check with the CCTV operator that the change hadn't fallen out of the machine and I wasn't fibbing for the sake of £1.50. She was most apologetic when she returned but it was another bad cash experience!! It also made me unpopular with other people using the machines who needed help while she was away checking my transaction. This is an unexpectedly good thread. Congratulations Barry :-)
  25. This totally. Plus most supermarkets have self pay machines now anyway so use one of those to speed up transactions. The only problem I see is the one at the tobacco/lottery kiosk and just make sure you avoid queues on evenings before draws take place. In terms of cash, I really don't want to carry dirty old coins in my pockets either. Cashless society is my way ahead.
