  1. Just had a quick look at wiki to update myself with the Pompey squad. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portsmouth_F.C.#First-team_squad It's looking most threadbare. I'd presume that Connolly and Rocha are stayers. But I think any one of the other remaining senior players could go in the next week: Gyepes, Ertl, Russell... And that puts them straight into JP Poortvliet "total football" territory.
  2. Venkys and Appleton are made for one another. You have to assume that Karl Oysten at Blackpool is thinking "This is good. It wasn't working out anyway and now I get paid some cash to lose Appleton in any case."
  3. Well, there you go. Portpin might as well strike NA off their press release distribution list. He'll print anything sent to him by the PDT though.
  4. Oooooh, a web chat with Neil Allen starts at 1pm. They haven't given much notice this time! http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-web-chat-with-neil-allen-1-4661658 Get to it nutjobs!
  5. He turned down Saints for the big "I am" at Man U. I see no reason to give him a second chance.
  6. I have a feeling that January 2013 might yet be the best of all the months that us nutjobs have watched from the sidelines.
  7. Will the intrepid quartet of Dumbaya, Harley, Williamson and Agent Howard actually play on Saturday? Theoretically they're in contract for the game... And it is at Fortress Fratton, after all.
  8. If I needed to carry three suits plus shirts on a plane flight, what's the best way to do it? In the past I have attempted to place one suit in a suitcase along with all my other stuff but there must be a better way if I needed to take three suits. Any ideas on how to do it, so they come out at the other end fine? Or is it just another suitcase?
  9. Makes not a jot of difference. If they had more cash, they'd have blown it.
  10. Can anyone recap the creditor percentages?
  11. I guess the point is that if you have weedy stubble, then any old crap will do the job. If you have an iron brusque that cuts the back of your own hand when you scratch the underside of your chin, something very proper is required... both in terms of the soap and the blade. #clint
  12. The old men and young boys trudged to the front weaponless to face the incoming onslaught as the Fuhrer shouted for more efforts from his ramshackle bunker.
  13. SO postcode does for you on POL. Kinda screws the blues in places like Locksheath.
  14. But it is your business if young cretins are getting neck tattoos etc that condemns them to a life on tax benefits and crime as they can't get jobs afterwards.
  15. Pay the extra and stick with Clinique. There are no substitutes IMO.
  16. Sarah's back on the News. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/whittingham-bemoans-costly-errors-at-the-back-1-4629510 Here's the problem. If Chanrai can show (a) anyone on the planet is willing to offer him more than £2.7m for his charge OR (b) his charge is worth more than £2.7m OR © the Trust and their property developers can't/won't pay £2.7m, this game is over. Most likely, their hapless, amateur bid fails at point A. It's that simple. (On balance, it looks like the Chanrai charge over Fratton and floating charge over all club assets is worth about £5m-£7m). The Trust has failed to explain how either (a) they will reduce severance payments to ex-players by £6m (from the £8m agreed to the £2m in thier business plan) or (b) how the on-running costs of PKF and the players, which have now about emptied any bank balance, alters their plans or © how they have re-adjusted their plans in light of very low revenues (and low-ish attendances) at Fratton or (d) how their plans look different in League 2, with releagtion now a 1/10 certainty according to most betting markets. I'd seriously advise against giving £1K to the Trust in these circumstances. And I'm already considering referring them to the FSA in a personal capacity. You will not be buying a "share" in the sense that people understand, you will be throwing your money into a bucket that might - just might - (with one hell of a following wind) make Colin Farmery a very junior and (IMHO) totally hapless partner to a consortium of property developers. If you have been witless enough to hand over a grand, I suggest you ask for your £997.50 back and put it down to experience. I'm so sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. I wish the Trust bid had been run competently and seriously. I wish The News had shown the wit to back a proper community-run club Sadly, neither has happened. Utterly incompetent journalism and a lunatic bunch of wannabe uber-fans are now killing the club. Pains me to say it. But someone has to. She makes a fair point or two.
  17. As below.
  18. Nice piece Neil, erm, I mean Rallyboy. I'm assuming that at least some of the 11 HNWs are starting to wonder whether their weekly injections are actually worth it at this point now. They're in the drop zone and have 10 points to come off so you'd have to think that the HNWs keeping the club afloat are better off watching the inevitable player exodus, reducing the outgoings and accepting relegation so they can divert wasted player salaries into a bit of extras for any post-court fighting fund. I'd certainly like to be a fly on the wall at their meetings. I bet there's a fair amount of division going on. Lots of egos at work etc.
  19. Well done double agent Howard.
  20. Calm before the January storm.
  21. I'd imagine they are desperate to get the game on, in terms of better the devil you know. Another delayed fixture is bad news in many ways for Pompey. At least they have a semblance of a squad right now and 3 points would be a morale booster for the PST financial cause. Although if Yeovil win, it would be a very bitter blow.
  22. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20828024 Redknapp says QPR players paid too much. Face palm thingy.
  23. Noddy is a fair enough bloke IMO. I'd be interested if anyone could explain or estimate Xmas royalties on their mega supermarket hit though.

    Train travel

I think all those points are very valid. Living in Manchester, I enjoy the pendolino ride to Euston at just over 2 hours when it is not too crowded. I know that some platforms on the route have been lengthened so that longer pendolinos with additional carriages have been introduced which is great. But overall IMO we need more route capacity so fast trains can pass commuter trains and freight trains also. That would be good expenditure.

    Train travel

I love trains. I think they are excellent ways to travel. They had their heyday before cars and motorways arrived because then they got neglected and even shut down by the likes of Dr Beeching in the 1960s. But I think people are fed up with road congestion and turning back to the railways for commuter runs and longer distance travel. Some of the new trains are really quite nice, provided they aren't overcrowded. And reasonable value with rising petrol prices. But I get fed up with how overcrowded and inadequate my local train into Manchester is in the morning. New report on most overcrowded routes at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-20783986 Waterloo is not a surprise. I would happily pay more tax (if I knew it was being spent on railway infrastructure) for more and better trains. I understand about the private franchises, but ultimately the government pays for rail network infrastructure upgrades. Any views elsewhere on how good or crap rail is?
