  1. It's all guesswork but I reckon they've gone out and approached managers to join "the project" but they've all turned us down. It's patently obvious to everyone that the current style of play isn't working. As an owner, my plan B would be to direct the manager to change his style. In fact, I would sit him down and make him watch the 9/10+ mistakes that have resulted in goals against because of this style - and then I would show him Real Madrid's goal last night which was a boot up to Bellingham who turns and scores. If direct football is good enough for Real Madrid, it's good enough for us!
  2. I see from the BBC website that the Wolves Board are keeping the faith with O'Neil on the basis that they have the belief the squad are good enough to get out of the danger zone and O'Neil can lead them to do it. Don't get any ideas SR. Russell is not the person to get us out of our mess.
  3. Someone wrote on one of threads that the agents of Potter and Moyes had been contacted and turned us down. Totally believable but talk to the organ grinder. If I was in the SR hierarchy, I would be getting their direct contact numbers and speaking to them direct not their agents. Yes, in our current situation we're a hard sell, but ultimately, if you're a manager wanting a 'turned it around and now look at us' club on your CV, you can make a good case for Southampton FC being that club.
  4. At the Wolves game, I was talking to a member of the Hampshire FA, a group dedicated to developing grassroots football in Hampshire. He said you wouldn't believe how much £100k would help their FA, so I asked him how much the Saints contributed to their cause. The answer was nothing, diddly squat. In fact, they get more support from Bournemouth - which isn't even in Hampshire! I just find it difficult to find any positives about our management.
  5. Given up pushing the refresh button. He's still here. Time for Plan B. The players need to advise him that they are going to ignore his directions, instead play to their strengths and practice doing this on the training pitch. It didn't go unnoticed that one of our few threatening attacks at Villa in the opening minutes started from a hoof/targeted pass by Lumley.
  6. There's a motto something like: If it's broke, fix it. I don't blame the recruitment team. In fact, given the financial pond we're fishing in, I was quite pleased with the summer signings. An England goalkeeper, an England central defender, a player in Downes who was instrumental in getting us promoted, Fernandes and even Archer up front has something about him. I certainly don't blame the players. There seems to be an understanding among them that they're not the strongest squad but they'll give it a good go - unlike the last time we were relegated when there were so many bad apples. What I do blame SR for is the manager. They could see last year that with a strong squad we only just scraped promotion, they could see Burnley in the premiership playing a similar style to us and failing dismally and they can see this failure of a season and are letting it ramble on. Perhaps a Director of Football would help. What I do know is that anyone is better than Russ Martin. This isn't like Ralph's departure when people were warning be careful what you wish for. This is a club and a team that deserves more than RM. Get them fit, get them playing to their strengths, stop this nonsense possession ideology and we'll get a few good results this year. Come on SR - do what you have to do.
  7. Top tip. Thanks Convict.
  8. Streams seem to be harder to find nowadays. Usually go for Soccerstreams.io but despite giving lots of choices, none seem to work. Will try again in 5 minutes unless there's another site someone can recommend...preferably without the cartoons which don't look like Tom and Jerry!
  9. S-Clarke, you're not doing your post match analysis so much nowadays which is a shame because they've always been pretty insightful...and so are your comments on SR. Sadly, the days of a Jack Walker at the helm of a club are long gone. Boards often consist of no-one with a special love for the club and we're no different. To Dragan and his team, we're just a project. If it goes wrong, so what? But what I don't get is why they haven't got rid of RM. Surely they can see he is dragging the club down. I can only assume they've been approaching managers and they've all said no.
  10. I like him. He basically uses youth to engage in the high press and harry the defence. And I don't blame him one bit for our relegation. He inherited a broken squad which needed dismantling and that couldn't be done in February, he gave us a fun day out at Stamford Bridge and he seems to have a down-to-earth demeanour which is very agreeable. But going to Hull? The Humber is the shithole of the UK and Hull is half way up it!
  11. For the light show Jack, for the light show!!!
  12. They made a complete balls up making him captain last year and then he got the shoehorn name because it was felt he had to play. Now is the perfect opportunity to change captains and put him way down the pecking order where he belongs.
  13. Sulemana struts around as if he couldn't be arsed and still gets time on the pitch. Where does that put ABK? His head must be so far up his own arse that he gets a real funny taste! Charlie, I'm not so sure you've got it right with Diaz. I think he's trying, it's just he is so genuinely crap that he looks like he's not putting in the effort.
  14. My pre match prediction came true thanks to Jack Stephens. Couldn't have foreseen that in a month of Sundays. Mind blowingly stupid. I hope they dock his pay for the length of time he's out and yes, drop him from his captaincy. He's not setting an example.
  15. One of my best aways when the team was struggling under Ralph and we went to Villa just before Christmas and beat them 3-1. Remember the 'Can we play you every week? chant and the Christmas ode to Ralph. Great times. We weren't great then but there was always faith in Ralph that somehow we'd turn it around. Who knows, most players back, Shoehorn out, everyone ignores RM's instructions and just maybe....
  16. With all the suspensions and injuries, expectations are at an all time low but we know they will still find a way to let us down.
  17. Yep, it's on Amazon Prime so if you've taken out the free one month promotion to get free postage for the Christmas presents, then this a bonus. Just don't forget to cancel the subscription before the month is up.
  18. There's probably quicker ways out, I find parking in the Bedford Place car parks (multi story is never full) is a relatively quick way out to the M3 either via the Avenue or Hill Lane.
  19. If they're his shooting boots, can you give them back to him!
  20. You can still stay onside and make a nuisance of yourself. This guy is costing us points by being out of his depth in the premier league and not scoring and now by getting legitimate goals cancelled out. I'm sure someone else can take his penalties.
  21. But did you see that showboating 'look away' pass? The bit where he fell over but the ball still came with him? His exaggerated stepovers? To be fair to him, I haven't seen many others in the squad raise the crowd's expectation like he did on Sunday. He's got more about him than a lot of us initially gave him credit for and hopefully he get a run in the side where he can be judged based on a number of performances.
  22. Surely enough of the squad can get together and say we have to change - give us a chance to play the game the way we want to play it. They are not a bunch of nine year olds all wanting to play Centre Forward or Centre Mid, they know their best position and their strengths, so if enough of them say to Russ, we need to change, he will need to listen.
  23. And then he places his fulcrum as centre back...more ridiculousness from RM. It's frustrating watching talented players not being given the licence to show what they can do. Suga doesn't come across as too talented but he does come across as a workhorse who likes to go forward - so if you put him in the team give him that licence.
  24. For Forest I was waving the Japanese national flag for him but must admit, have put it away ever since. He really is quite average. Defending is woeful. Often out of position. But I do like his forward play and he has a reasonable cross. For that reason, I'm keeping the faith.
  25. Yes he's been close and speaking to a couple of lads at work who know much more about football than me, they watched Sunday's game and asked why hasn't he played more for us. Ask RM. Must admit, never really thought TP is the answer but he did look good on Sunday and i'd like to see crosses pumped up to him.
