Wouldn’t be easy to get him from albirex. Need to get lavia out of the squad first and secure some funds
-
In the grand scheme of things lee made no material difference to the club and it’s fortunes. players come and go and some are great for the club such as lambert and others sparkle momentarily and score some decent goals but like lee but it doesn’t really make any difference. I couldn’t really care if sulemana stays or goes. It’s a distraction and I’d rather we signed a decent keeper and someone who can score 15 goals a plus a season. At the moment we look the same incoherent club we have for the past few seasons.
-
Who cares hes played a few games and was crap in some and decent sporadically in others. In ten years time no one will remember him he’s like a 2023 tadanari lee
-
I’ve no doubt we would use it wisely - we could blow 10m easy. It’s two thirds of a bazanu or half an onachu.
-
Perhaps you’re right but if so it’s difficult to see us mounting a serious promotion push in the midst of all that churn and with a crap keeper to boot. Equally I’ve got little confidence that the people in charge will bring in good quality replacements. I’d have expected more by now really.
-
So no new keeper, no new CB, no experienced midfielder or central striker. Can’t believe we haven’t at least addressed the latter as it’s been a massive issue for the last two seasons. Some people seem to think Adam Armstrong is the answer forgetting how woeful he’s been. The results in preseason are indicative of where this team is presently at. Guess the terrible January transfer window is hampering efforts now to get people in but we desperately need a new striker ( and Gkp).
-
He’s shit and that’s it about it.
-
So last season we needed a keeper who was competent, a commanding CB, experienced combative DM and a striker who could actually score and a week from KO we still need all the above.
-
Totally agree and it’s a relief no one has come in for bazanu
-
Absolute joke that we haven’t signed a new keeper. We look porous at the back so a decent keeper is vital but people at the club seem too pigheaded to accept bazanu was an expensive mistake
-
It amazes me that there is. We all want saints to win and go up this season and it’s going to be a lot harder to do so whilst he’s in goal. You don’t need to be Alex Ferguson to identify that is a necessary change to make from last season. It’s obvious and the two howlers only confirm that
-
Perhaps he will and perhaps he won’t. None of us can say but hopefully we can all agree he’s currently not a top class keeper and was way off that level last season and in pre season. You can’t have a shit keeper and be successful so if we want to be promoted we need a new and experienced keeper
-
Yes but it’s a keepers job to make saves and statistically he doesn’t make enough of those to offset all the gaffs
-
Well he was really shit last season and has made two howlers in the last two games so I don’t share your optimism
-
Another gaff - it’s obvious he’s not up to it yet still we continue. It’s not his fault he keeps getting picked but we aren’t going to be promoted with him in goal. I can only hope his shit preseason means we now have to address it. There’s no point spending millions on outfield players if your keeper is a liability
-
Strange that no one has been linked with bazanu
-
You must be joking - did you see the goal conceded on Saturday ? I don’t see anything to suggest he’s up to being the number one in a promotion winning team
-
Suspect you’re right. There doesn’t appear to be any signs of bringing in a replacement even after another balls up on Saturday
-
Surely a goalkeeper as well given the ones we have are crap. I don’t see us being promoted with bazanu in goal
-
A good example of his shit positioning is the header conceded away to West Ham. On first glance you think there was nothing he could have done despite the header being so far out but on further analysis he got himself in the wrong position again so leaves himself too much to do. If he was bigger then he’s more chance of recovering and its also perhaps inexperience but he needs shifting and someone else bringing in
-
Looks like he thought he would cross it and forgot to cover his near post. Sort of thing you’d get hammered for in sunday league. It’s a typical bazanu goal to concede from a nothing shot. He’s a real penchant for conceding weird goals because his positioning and decision making are shit so he manages to contrive to concede from innocuous shots or headers. I fear he will be our number 1 next season which I would find incredible given how poor he is and makes promotion very tough. Surely anyone with an ounce of footballing intelligence can see that he’s not up to it
-
He was crap last year. It’s obvious he’s not up to it and never has been since he joined. Not much point spending loads of money on new players if your keeper is shit, yet still we persist with him. God knows why as we seem happy confine other shit signings to the transfer bin but we persist with him in the hope he might come good. His positioning is poor, he doesn’t command his box and he doesn’t prevent goals. He’s a nothing keeper and we can and should be looking for a significant upgrade
-
Yes but he must have known a lot about the players otherwise why recommend we sign them ? Maybe Wilcox is a better judge. Neither of us know but it’s higher risk and so far we have a hit rate of 1 out of 4
-
Possibly but shields had similar access to the squad and that didn’t work out as hoped. It might work but as I said it’s more high risk than the proven route of buying good and experienced players who have done it before and frankly our owners have done nothing to install confidence
-
Would be nice to be linked with experienced proven players who aren’t crap rather than kids. It didn’t work last year so why would it work this year ? High risk again
