  1. Maybe we’ve bought a load of crap that are worse than what we had or at least that would seem to be the view of selles. We are a real mess at the moment.
  2. Still can’t believe he started with that front four on Thursday night. Has to be one of the weakest attacks we have fielded in living memory. I know we have a very poor squad particularly in the final third but what did he expect playing Adam Armstrong?
  3. Not sure what you see to suggest he will be a good keeper. Doesn’t seem to have great reflexes, agility or positional sense. He’s doesn’t make many absolute howlers ( he doesn’t make many notable saves either) but I don’t see loads of potential. Maybe he needs a few years but I wouldnt want him playing next season
  4. The forward line tonight said it all. What on earth was he expecting from Adam Armstrong ? I think perhaps somewhere in there is a decent team but successive managers have not managed to find it so perhaps not. But I don’t think the team is set up right with such a gap between the front four and the rest, no width and slow dull possession football. It’s awful. I’ve barely been able to watch since West Ham it’s so turgid (Arsenal aside). You can also factor in the decision to play bazanu all season. I don’t know why he was only dropped last night as again he has not been up to it for some time. The recruitment has been dreadful now for 18 months, Lavia aside. Maybe it was just our time the same way it will be time for Brighton, Wolves etc at some point over the next few years. I have no confidence in the current board to make the right footballing decisions and the next manager makes or breaks us really. God knows who it will be.
  5. At least we are down now - something of a relief really. Last couple of seasons have been terrible and we have ended up with a totally shit team. How can he have played Adam Armstrong again ? What was he expecting to be different ?
  6. Great post - sums it up
  7. Has to be one of the worst forward lines we have ever fielded in a first division/premier league game
  8. Surman on Solent sounds like he should be in charge spot on
  9. No again you have misunderstood. As you say ‘’it is irrelevant’’; present tense. At the point he was taken off we were winning and the three points would have taken us to within a point of safety and therefore the substitution was clearly relevant to whether we would get the three points that would have put us back in the mix. It was a baffling decision.
  10. Horse shit and Jesus wept ! We are going down without the win so he should have been kept on anyway and try for the win. Great perspective
  11. I don’t think you understand the statistics. They are not saying he’s the worst because he concedes the most goals he’s the worst in terms of shots saved relative to goals conceded. Take a look at Leno at Fulham. He’s faced far more shots but he’s the top of the chart. Ultimately he’s a poor keeper in a poor team but if we are looking at how we can improve then replacing bazanu seems an obvious starting point.
  12. Oknhebrh Ok I stand corrected; he’s only statistically the worst keeper in the European top leagues and there might be others outside the European top leagues statistically worse.
  13. I accept there might be a keeper somewhere in Europe worse than him at shot stopping (but for the moment at least we play in the Premier League and are comparing him to other keepers in the top European leagues not the Scottish third division or the Albanian conference). That wasn’t really my point. The stats support the general proposition that he doesn’t make enough saves relative to shots faced. He might face more shots than others but if he’s a good keeper that gives him more opportunities to make saves. The stats support what we see week on week. He’s a major reason we are going down and will be a major reason we don’t come back up if we persist next season.
  14. Yes quite a bit. He’s statistically the worst keeper in Europe at shot stopping. The stats were published on here some weeks ago. See below 😉
  15. I don’t see how you can say that and god forbid he’s still our number one next season. He’s the worst keeper in Europe by some distance when it’s comes to shot stopping. It’s not even close. I agree he doesn’t make many absolute howlers but he doesn’t make great saves. He doesn’t deal with crosses well, he flaps and is often found out of position meaning he concedes soft goals. He’s a nothing keeper just a bloke in goal. Objectively in a season of self inflicted disasters then his playing the entire season as our number one is right up there. You put Forster in goal and we would have had several points more.
  16. Agreed he often finds him in the wrong position meaning he’s not able to make the save that should be made. next season we can give ourselves 10 points by getting a decent experienced keeper. That should be the first item on the agenda for whoever is appointed
  17. He doesn’t cope well with high balls, he doesn’t save I don’t know about 10 but certainty 5. He doesn’t cope well with crosses and doesn’t save shots but he doesn’t make many absolute howlers so perhaps that’s why he plays but he is the worst first choice I can recall in 40 years of supporting Saints. It’s difficult to know what his level is really as he doesn’t really exhibit any particular goalkeeping attributes. He’s just a bloke in goal
  18. Same dynamic as the first goal against palace. He is a very big reason we are going down and yet he still plays each game.
  19. May as well get the thread warmed up…..
  20. Bazunu is the pits
  21. The removal of lavia was suicidal really
  22. He doesn’t make many absolute howlers and maybe that’s why he is still picked. It’s more conceding goals like the first against palace, the one against WHU and the one against Leeds where you’d expect a decent keeper to do a lot better. Seems really odd we have persisted all season and had we had an alternative we would be at least a few points better off and still in the mix. I hope we don’t persist next season with this as it been a major reason for our demise and the goals aren’t any smaller in the championship
  23. We have bought and play plenty of rubbish that’s over 21
  24. He should have punched it. Seems clear enough to me. Accept it might have gone straight to an opposition player but you take the option that gets the ball farthest from the danger zone. He’s a poor premiership keeper at the moment and although people say he’s got potential I don’t see what they are basing that on. We don’t score many sp to have the worst keeper in Europe when it’s comes to shot stopping is a recipe for relegation…..
  25. I stand corrected ! Quite an accolade - the only way is up I suppose
